Chapter 831: Chapter 831: It’s Good to Have a Wife

The dishes at today’s wedding feast received endless praise from the guests, and Luo Qiao even specifically instructed to increase the portion sizes, giving a special favor to the groom’s family, haha.

Now, only those close to her knew that Yipin Fruits and Vegetables was a partnership with Luo Qiao and someone else, but as for Jinyuan Garden, Luo Qiao didn’t mention a word, nor did anyone associate Luo Qiao with Jinyuan Garden. The Gu family only found out that Luo Qiao knew their boss when they were booking the banquet, and they even got the best price.

Lu Yichen and Luo Qiao started toasting from the main table. Luo Qiao had arranged in advance to have her and Lu Yichen’s drinks switched out with watered-down liquor. She placed his childhood buddies, former military comrades, and current colleagues from the Public Security Bureau at the end of the toasting lineup.

Throughout the toasting, there were frequent exclamations about how beautiful the bride’s wedding dress was, how charmingly her hair was done up, and how stunning she looked.

Sun Maolin, sitting in the distance, lamented Lu Yichen’s good fortune while Luo Jinwen beside him clenched her fists under the table, her nails almost digging into her palms.

Watching Luo Qiao’s radiant smile, she wished she could tear off that face and stand by Lu Yichen’s side herself. The fierceness in her eyes startled Sun Maolin when he turned to look at her.

Knowing her reaction was inappropriate, she quickly smiled at Sun Maolin, and said against her will, "It reminds me of our own wedding."

After she finished speaking, she lowered her head, feigning shyness, causing those at the same table who knew Luo Jinwen’s true colors to feel disgusted.

They first toasted relatives and friends, then moved to colleagues. Due to their positions, the colleagues from the Public Security Bureau had prepared performances but didn’t dare to go overboard.

But it was different with the comrades-in-arms; their banter was non-stop and their acts grew bolder, accompanied by bursts of laughter, until they finally finished toasting those tables.

Last came the childhood friends—who were accustomed to not holding back—they put on increasingly audacious performances until they thoroughly enjoyed themselves as the wedding feast drew to a close.

Protected by Lu Yichen, Luo Qiao didn’t drink much, but looking at Lu Yichen, he clearly had too much, despite Luo Qiao diluting the liquor with water. If she hadn’t tampered with the drinks, he would have probably been down long ago—his friends really could drink a lot.

When they returned to their bridal suite, those childhood friends, comrades, and colleagues followed them and put on more performances, giving the newlyweds a hard time before finally letting them be. Luo Qiao lighted cigarettes for everyone, acknowledged the crowd, and after receiving their blessings, everyone left.

Finally, it was quiet. Lu Yichen’s face was alarmingly red as he lay on the bed, staring at Luo Qiao, and patted the bed beside him, "Qiaoqiao, you must be tired after the whole day, come rest a bit."

Luo Qiao poured him a glass of honey water, "Get up and drink this, it’ll help you sober up."

Lu Yichen smiled, got up, and took the glass, "Having a wife is wonderful."

He gulped down the honey water and placed the cup on the bedside table, then wrapped his arms around Luo Qiao, "Wife, it’s great. We’re finally married, finally able to be together."

Luo Qiao leaned into his embrace, "Do you have a headache? Your childhood friends, comrades, and colleagues really can drink."

Lu Yichen’s mouth curved into a slight smile, "I feel a bit dizzy, stay with me while I lie down for a bit."

Luo Qiao turned her head and saw the smile at the corner of his mouth, "You bad man, trying to trick someone again."

Lu Yichen laughed and held her close, "I’m not tricking you. I really am a bit dizzy. I keep thinking it’s not a dream—that I truly married the woman I love, and now we don’t have to hold back anymore. I can hug you whenever I want, kiss you whenever I want."

Teasingly, Luo Qiao retorted, "Right now, we are still not legal though. We haven’t even registered our marriage yet."

Lu Yichen slapped his forehead, "I knew there was something I couldn’t remember." He kissed her on the face, "Let’s get ready and go get our marriage certificate."

Luo Qiao pointed out, "It’s almost three o’clock now."

Lu Yichen laughed, "You were always busy before, and then we couldn’t see each other a few days before the wedding. Don’t worry, I’ve already made arrangements; you almost made me forget."

So the two of them got ready, told the people in the front yard, and Xiao Zhang, who worked for Old Master Gu, drove them to the civil affairs office. As soon as they walked in, someone greeted them with a smile, "Brother Lu, sister-in-law, congratulations on your wedding."
