"You found a way to do what?" Ren Nora frowned. "Do you even understand what you’re talking about?"

Major Kai scoffed. "You think that crazy unproven explanation of yours is somehow able to trap a C Rank Ascended?"

The stranger was already getting on his nerves.

Leon didn’t react to the words of the 2 D Rank NetRunners, instead he smiled at them and said. "Fortunately, the both of you are D Rank NetRunners meaning I have test subjects to experiment with and see if my plan is feasible". 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

"The both of you can be my test subjects to test the efficacy of the trap yourselves and see if it’s capable of trapping a C Rank NetRunner".

Ren Nora’s frown deepened. ’Is this guy crazy or he’s just delusional?’

’What he says somehow makes sense but I can’t help but feel like he’s crazy’.

In the end, he took a deep breath to calm down as he coldly looked at the stranger. "You’ve still not explained what the trap is".

"I know," Leon’s face turned serious as he looked at the digital board again. "I’ve been observing all of you fight for 4 days, and in this time I already got more than enough experimental data for my NetRunner research".

"In this time, I learned that NetRunner powers are not one-dimensional".

"The psionic-related powers of a NetRunner like I said is similar to a simple Google search process, but NetRunners have other abilities like Ghost Line which is similar to surfing the internet on incognito mode".

"NetRunners also have abilities like Data Lash, Psionic Assault, Mind Distortion and Neural Burn whose effects are similar to an information overload".

"People are liable to experience an information overload when they spend too much time on the internet or on an online game".

"NetRunners also have abilities like Firewall Bypass and Neural Hack, and even your Ghost-in-the-Machine ability whose effects are similar to computer viruses and malware from where I come from".

"Where did you come from?" Ren Nora finally asked.

"You wouldn’t know even if I told you". Leon responded with a smile that made Ren Nora’s eyelids twitch.

He continued. "By taking my time to study all of the abilities of NetRunners that I know, including their real-world similarities, I managed to create a trap that I believe can trap a C Rank NetRunner".

"I call it the DDoS God Killer".

Leon smiled. "From where I come from, there’s a type of malicious software attack that’s called a DDoS attack, a Distributed Denial-of-Service attack".

"A DDoS attack works by instructing a botnet comprising a network of compromised, infected devices, often IOT devices, computers, or servers to overwhelm a target server, service, or network with a massive, high-volume flood of internet traffic".

"The goal is to render the target inoperable, slow, or inaccessible to legitimate users".

"It uses many compromised sources to send traffic, making it much harder to block than a single-source attack which is called a DoS attack".

"The aim is to saturate a target’s bandwidth, consume server resources and network equipment, and to exhaust resources," Leon grinned. "Like ADE".

Ren Nora frowned.

He felt like he understood where the stranger was driving at, but he wasn’t really sure because of the bunch of unfamiliar terms that the stranger used.

"Is this your plan to trap a C Rank NetRunner?" His frown deepened. "What makes you think any software attack that we can create can affect him?"

"If it was so easy to trap a C Rank NetRunner, I’d have done it long ago".

Leon maintained his smile. "That’s the thing, you’re not the one who’s going to attack him, neither am I or any of your Lieutenants".

"None of us are worthy".

"Individually, none of us have the power to stop a C Rank NetRunner, but what if an entire city becomes the power source?"

Ren Nora’s frown deepened.

"Actually I got part of my inspiration from your Purgatory," Leon grinned. "Overlapping the psionic network with reality? Honestly, that’s genius!"

Leon took a deep breath. "I already explained the process of a simple Google search to you and it’s similarity to NetRunner powers".

"If a NetRunner can truly be likened to a server, a DDoS attack powered by an entire city should be able to if not outrightly kill a C Rank NetRunner, but at least heavily affect him and leave him incapacitated".

"Once we can get him where I want him, no matter how strong he is, the high-volume flood of traffic with Purgatory active should be able to at least render a C Rank NetRunner slow and incapacitated, even heavily injured".

"For direct comparison, it’s like tying a stone to an E Rank NetRunner and dropping him deep in the sea".

"No matter their vitality and tenacity, they would still drown".

Leon clicked his tongue. "In the past few days, I’ve also been secretly observing and studying Iron Reef’s hardware warehouses. I know how much electronic and ADE capacity this city is equipped to carry".

"For my plan to work, I need your help". He looked straight at Ren Nora.

"I intend to turn a part of Iron Reef’s high-capacity hardware centers into a large-scale trap that integrates a NetRunner-enhanced DDoS attack, this way I can trap General Sylvari Charr in a loop like a google query stuck in a loop".

"It doesn’t matter how powerful he is, the flood of traffic from the psionic network powered by the city’s hardware and Purgatory will overwhelm him".

"All his attempts at entering the psionic network will be intercepted by the fake traffic from the DDoS. He won’t be able to hop through the psionic network, he won’t be able to move, he’ll be trapped by the DDoS capacity of an entire city".

"He’ll be like a frog trapped in a well".

Leon’s eyes gleamed. "He’ll be stuck in a loop that lasts long enough either till he dies, or till you complete your Trial and become a C Rank NetRunner".

"I’ve been thinking for days and I believe this is the only way to theoretically trap a C Rank NetRunner".

Leon looked Ren Nora in the eyes. "Alongside my A.I with some assistance from you, I believe I can make this work".

"I believe that I’m equipped to create a DDoS trap of this scale, and I believe I can supervise the trap, ensuring that the General remains trapped for as long as the hardware centers can last".

"Hopefully, long enough for you to complete your C Rank Trial".
