Chapter 30: A Year After

In the Hall of the Dragon Palace

"Zephyr, Stryx, can’t you behave more like your sister?" A young child of two years with black hair and golden eyes could be seen chasing two children the same age as him. The children had purple-gold hair and eyes, laughing as they saw the young black-haired child chasing them.

All of them were extremely cute and were going to be handsome, but the one with golden eyes looked enchanting—so cute that every lady would feel their heart melt at his smile.

It had been a year since the incident of the baby rabbit who had almost died but survived and became part of the clan. Not long after their awakening, they had transformed into their human baby forms, which struck Drake’s heart. When Drake was still on Earth, he was a lover of children—wherever children were, he would be there.

Like they say, old habits never change.

He took them as his siblings, taking care of them, but he didn’t forget to teach and show them the brutality of this world.

"If you two dare run off from training, you won’t eat for a whole day," Drake said in a threatening voice, looking at the two children he had caught.

These were Zephyr and Stryx, the two thunder dragons. As for their third sibling, who was the death dragon...

"See your sister training? Look at you both. Do you want her to be stronger than you and able to eat multiple delicious foods?" Drake said to both Zephyr and Stryx. When the children heard this, they calmed down, their playful expressions fading.

Not far from them was a young man fighting a grey-haired, grey-eyed young girl of two years who held a wooden sword. This young girl was the third of the rabbits, the Death Dragon. It turned out she wasn’t a boy but a girl.

"Noctheria, you’re doing great," Drake said, as both the young man and Noctheria noticed his presence and the children.

"Big brother Drake!" Noctheria rushed over, dropping her wooden sword and hugging Drake’s body. Zephyr and Stryx also hugged Drake.

Drake chuckled as he ruffled their hair when he saw them hugging him.

"Thank you for taking care of her, Kaidros," Drake said to the young man before him. He had silver hair that looked like a sword, eyebrows sharp like blades, silver eyes that shone like moonlight, and he wore a silver shirt with black trousers.

Kaidros bowed. "It should be I thanking you, Master, for giving me a new life."

"I told you to stop saying that," Drake sighed.

This young man was also a member of the Dragon Clan. He was a human before, who had been transmuted into a dragon—but the dragon bloodline wasn’t that of thunder or death, it was...

[Flashback]

One fateful night at the edge of the Bestial Forest,

"Drek, where are you running? You better drop that thing, or else. You’ve been hiding for such a long time—did you think we wouldn’t find you?"

A slightly old man holding a sword was running inside the Bestial Forest. Behind him was a group of people chasing after him. One surprising thing was the strong aura they all emitted.

But one thing one would notice was that the old man was injured—blood was running out of his body. If he didn’t take care of himself, he would die.

"I found this thing, but you guys are trying to take it for yourselves," the old man said. One could feel the anger in his words.

"We aren’t trying to take it for ourselves. We’re saying you should share this treasure," one of those chasing the old man shouted.

"You know those tricks can’t work on me. You’ll silence me after getting your hands on it. It’s the way of the world," the old man being chased said. Those following him snorted, frustrated by this.

The chase continued, but little by little, the old man’s speed decreased due to his injuries.

"Hahaha! Let’s see how long you can last with your injury," they shouted when they noticed his reduced speed.

The chase continued, and the group of people entered the inner circle of the Bestial Forest. fгeewebnovёl.com

Suddenly, the old man felt a sharp pain strike his body, causing him to pause slightly. He knew his body couldn’t hold on much longer. The old man stopped in the forest, and the people chasing him used the opportunity to surround him as they stood in an open space.

"If not for the fact that we were chasing after the clues of the dragon roar we heard, we wouldn’t have found you," one of them said.

They were five in number—four old men and a middle-aged woman. The old man being chased had black hair and eyes but looked sharp despite his age. He held a silver sword that emitted a powerful aura.

Of the four old men, two had black hair, one had brown, and the last had white hair—same for their eyes. One of the black-haired old men was short. The middle-aged woman had black-red hair and eyes. They all wore robes.

"You even abandoned your sect because of it," one of the old men said.

The old man called Drek looked at them. "It was all for reaching a higher realm so our lifespans could increase—but it seems I was going the wrong way before."

The old man brought out a sword-shaped leaf, looking at it bitterly. He had been trying to comprehend it for ages, but there was no way forward.

"Now hand it over, Drek. Since you can’t make use of it, we will," the middle-aged woman said.

"I’m not leaving it without a clash," Drek snorted.

"Then we would gladly give you a fight," the short black-haired old man said, as they struck toward him.

CLANG! SWOOSH!

The five of them moved as they struck toward the old man, who defended with his sword. The beasts around them had all run away, and the surrounding trees had been cut down.

Only flashes of their figures and the sounds of their clashes could be heard.

Their battle continued until it reached a critical moment.

CLANG!

The sound of a sword hitting the ground was heard. The old man called Drek had already been pierced through by two swords that rapidly destroyed his body.

"You should have given it to us," they snorted.

Drek felt his life slipping away. Then suddenly, his eyes turned determined as he swallowed the sword-shaped leaf.

"Noooo!" the five of them roared when they saw this.

"Spit it out, Drek!" They tried all means to make him vomit it back, but it had entered his stomach.

"Such a waste of treasure on a dead person," the white-haired old man snorted. He took the silver sword once again, piercing Drek.

He turned to the others. "Let’s go, the treasure has been wasted."

As Drek swallowed the sword-shaped leaf, he felt it dissolve into his body. Then suddenly, a huge amount of sword energy burst out from the dissolved leaf, cutting all forms of life within him.

"So this is how to use it," Drek muttered as he fell to the ground. He had spent years researching it, but it turned out it needed to be swallowed to gain its power.

Maybe heaven was sad—or happy—about his death, for rain started falling from the sky, soaking everything.

He looked toward the sky with a sigh. He never expected that the way to live was the one that sped up his death. His eyes began to turn blurry.

THUD! THUD!

Drek heard the sound of footsteps beside him. He thought it was one of the five who had returned, but when he looked toward the source of the sound—

What he saw was a small figure. Due to his poor eyesight, he couldn’t make out the features of the person. The small figure was covered with a coat, and he recognized that it was a child.

"What’s a child doing out here?" Drek thought when he saw the small figure.

As the small figure got close to him, what he saw was a golden eye that didn’t look entirely human but was domineering.

He watched as the small figure approached, bending down toward him. He felt an intense aura that wasn’t supposed to exist in such a child.

"Old man, would you shake hands with a dragon or die?" he heard a domineering male voice from the small figure that made his body shook and shiver.

A dragon?

A/N: Sorry, my dear readers, I made a big mistake. Drake’s Experience Points and Devouring Points have a 15X multiplier which I forgot to add. So I’ve made some changes to it—you can check the former Chapters to get updated on his stats.
