Rebirth of the Super Battleship-Chapter 561: The Most Impregnable Defense
While Xiao Yu was rushing about searching for traces of Level 5 Civilizations, far from there, in a newborn stellar system still filled with abundant interstellar dust, countless warships were busily shuttling to and fro. Among these ships, one colossal vessel was the most eye-catching. This ship was precisely the Pegasus Civilization’s flagship that had escaped from the Pegasus Civilization’s capital star system, the Galloping Pegasus spaceship.
Throughout this vast stellar system, innumerable ships moved frequently under the lead of the Galloping Pegasus spaceship, carrying out task after task.
There were very many ships here. Besides those clearly residential ships gathered within the system, as well as massive transport ships and industrial vessels, there were more than two hundred million warships of various models. This was an enormous and despair-inducing number. No single Level 5 Civilization could support so many ships. With such numbers, the resources on a planet could be completely consumed in a very short time.
But this stellar system did not contain only one planet. In fact, at this time, this stellar system already possessed at least twenty planets. These planets, on different orbits, revolved in an orderly fashion around the central star. Their orbits varied in distance. The nearest planet was only forty million kilometers from the star, while the farthest reached several billion kilometers.
According to planetary evolution theory, it would be impossible for such massive rocky planets to form so far from the star. Most importantly, this stellar system was still in its infancy. Vast quantities of interstellar dust had not yet had time to coalesce into planets. Theoretically, this stellar system should not have so many planets at all.
That was only one of the oddities. Another was the orbits of these planets. Their orbits were extremely peculiar, because most of them did not lie in the ecliptic plane of this stellar system. The most outrageous planet actually orbited along the star’s north-south poles.
Such a situation could never occur in natural evolution. Yet it had occurred. Only one explanation remained. This scene had been created artificially.
Perhaps the cause of this phenomenon was precisely these ships continually shuttling through the system. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
These ships were also peculiar, for they possessed entirely different construction styles. Generally speaking, each civilization has its own unique style. This style manifests across construction tasks, such as spaceship building or base construction. A unified civilization is unlikely to display two styles. As with Xiao Yu, whether the ships he built or things like planetary engines, one could find the imprint of the Earth era’s construction style.
Yet within this stellar system there were as many as twenty distinct styles, each strongly different from the others.
There were many oddities in this stellar system, but they were perfectly fused into a whole, operating with impeccable order under the command of the Galloping Pegasus spaceship.
Inside the Galloping Pegasus spaceship, a tall figure stood before a porthole, staring blankly at the scene outside. This person was none other than the former leader of the Pegasus Civilization, the one who led the entire Pegasus Civilization to contend with Xiao Yu for nearly a century and inflicted tremendous losses on him.
An aide quietly approached his side and reported in a low voice, “Our deterrent measures have achieved complete effect. After we destroyed the Gemini Civilization’s mothership, the remaining civilizations have fully agreed to form a Level 5 Civilization Alliance, with our Pegasus Civilization at the head, to jointly resist the Divine Ark Civilization.
“At the same time, the last civilization, the Cepheus Civilization, has also relocated all intelligent beings of its civilization to the Death Flower Star System. Up to now, all the populace, all the military and industrial strength of the twenty civilizations have gathered here. The number of our Alliance’s warships has increased to more than two hundred million. Among them, there are over seventy Continent-Class flagships, and more than five thousand Nation-Class ships. At present, under our Pegasus Civilization’s leadership, training is underway to coordinate and integrate the military forces of all civilizations. Also, the Central Research Academy of Science reports that they have fully obtained the detailed technological data of all Level 5 Civilizations. They have already absorbed more than three million reliable foreign scientific researchers and are conducting research on technological integration. I believe that the day when the technologies of the twenty Level 5 Civilizations are fully integrated will be the day our Pegasus Civilization enters the scope of a Level 6 Civilization.”
“I hope the Divine Ark Civilization will give us that time. I hope the Divine Ark Civilization finds us later rather than sooner.” the Pegasus Civilization leader sighed.
The aide asked doubtfully, “Is the Divine Ark Civilization truly so fearsome? You must know that we have gathered here more than two hundred million warships. There are over seventy Continent-Class ships alone, and we possess twenty-three planets. With strength this great, is it still not a match for the Divine Ark Civilization?”
The leader said lightly, “Before we advance to a Level 6 Civilization, any accident can occur. Pass down the order, require each civilization to strengthen coordination, and continue transporting planets from outer stellar systems. Within one thousand years, we must transport at least one hundred more planets here.”
“This time I will shape these one hundred plus planets into the most solid interstellar stronghold. With the cooperation of more than two hundred million warships, I will turn the Death Flower Star System into the Divine Ark Civilization’s final burial place.”
Within ten light years around the Death Flower Star System there were more than thirty stellar systems. These systems generally possessed several planets apiece, with a total of roughly over one hundred sixty. Nearly half of these were gas giants, and clearly gas giants cannot be fitted with planetary engines and cannot be transported. But giant gas planets usually have many moons. Some of those moons are larger than certain smaller planets. For example, in the Solar System, Jupiter’s moon Ganymede is larger than Mercury. These massive moons undoubtedly also have utilizable value.
Thus, under the lead of the Pegasus Civilization, the Level 5 Civilization Alliance launched into busy labor. They dispatched large numbers of industrial ships and transported planets in vast quantities from the surrounding stellar systems. They had no way to enable a planet to enter curvature flight, so they adopted conventional flight and forcibly drove these massive bodies across distances measured in light years, moving them from other systems into the Death Flower Star System.
Up to now, this project had continued for nearly a thousand years. Twenty-three planets had already been successfully transported to the Death Flower Star System and assigned different orbits according to the overall plan of the star system’s defense system. At least fifty planets were still on their way here, and more than forty planets were in the stage of installing and constructing planetary engines. Once the planetary engines were completed, these planets would also arrive at the Death Flower Star System under the push of planetary engines.
Every planet that reached the Death Flower Star System would undergo an even greater construction project. The Level 5 Civilization Alliance would install sufficiently powerful weapons on these planets, install a planetary shield system with sufficiently formidable defensive strength, build various mining bases and resource bases, and construct large dockyards in geosynchronous orbit.
It was foreseeable how rigorous the defensive strength of this stellar system would become once all transported planets had arrived and all had undergone the Alliance’s transformation.
“One hundred twenty plus planetary fortresses, more than two hundred million warships, several million colossal interstellar fortresses, and an uncountable number of interstellar mines and interstellar bomb clusters. I would like to know, Divine Ark Civilization, what you plan to use to break our defenses.”
Standing in the spacious conference room of the ship, the Pegasus Civilization leader murmured to himself.
“I know you will certainly come. Relying solely on the Pegasus Civilization’s technology is insufficient for you to advance to a Level 6 Civilization. To reach the scope of a Level 6 Civilization, you will inevitably need to exchange for or plunder the technologies of other Level 5 Civilizations. Now that I have gathered all Level 5 Civilizations here, how could you possibly resist such temptation?
“You must know, our Pegasus Civilization has already begun the process of technological integration. When integration is fully complete, we will certainly enter the scope of a Level 6 Civilization. For this matter, I must thank you. If not for your Divine Ark Civilization, the Level 5 Civilization Alliance would never have been formed. After we enter the scope of a Level 6 Civilization, the first we will exterminate will be your Divine Ark Civilization. If you want to stop us, come and break the defenses of this stellar system. If you cannot stop us, we will exterminate you.”
“The hateful Arboreal Race Alien Beast destroyed the capital planet of our civilization. Fortunately, a portion of our civilization ultimately escaped. Those people must hate me now, but it does not matter. When we enter the scope of a Level 6 Civilization, you will understand my pains. For now, I worry about you. I do not know where you have gone. I do not know what situation you are in. I truly care about you.”
As his thoughts drifted, the eyes of the Pegasus Civilization leader grew distant and inscrutable.
