Rebirth: Love in the Apocalypse-Chapter 163: Stocking and Moving
The world dried faster than either Mo Chenxuan or Qin Wu anticipated.
By the evening of the third day of July, the building walls were no longer damp, and the land was dry to the point that cracks had begun to appear.
Qin Wu sighed when she saw this.
"It seems it’s going to be an unprecedentedly hot summer." She said, and Mo Chenxuan nodded with a thoughtful expression.
"The zombies won’t stay still for long." He said.
"They have been starving for the last six months. We should expect an attack soon." Qin Wu added.
After dinner, the two returned to their room and spent half the night rearranging their supplies.
When morning came, they showered, had breakfast and drove to the territory.
After confirming that all the buildings were completely dry, they began stocking the shops.
First was the supermarket.
The supermarket had three floors, and each had a usable space of about six hundred square metres.
At the moment, the place was filled with rows of empty shelves that were just waiting to be filled.
The first floor was for food items.
Without delay, Mo Chenxuan and Qin Wu filled the shelves with noodles, flours, grains, sugar, salt, spices, juices, biscuits, pastas, long-life milk, snacks, and other foods.
As for the meats, vegetables, and fruits segments, they offered canned and freeze-dried options but no fresh goods.
Looking at the shelves of freeze-dried foods, Qin Wu sighed with a thoughtful expression.
"Chenxuan, it’s not sustainable to keep freeze-drying foods in the space." She said, and Mo Chenxuan nodded.
Several months ago, they set up freeze-drying machines in both spaces and began preserving vegetables, fruits, seafood, and meats.
However, this was not a practice they could sustain for the long term.
After all, the demand for such goods would increase as the territory grew.
"We have enough reserves to last three or four months. We will find a solution before the reserves run out." He said.
"I am afraid the solution will have to involve other people." Qin Wu said and quickly continued.
"We will need people to slaughter, process, and dry the livestock and seafood. This is not a good thing for us." She said, and Mo Chenxuan sighed before speaking.
"At worst, I will use my spiritual ability to implant suggestions in the workers’ minds. This way, the people can work without really comprehending the strangeness of the situation. However, this method is not infallible." He said.
"It’s better than nothing." Qin Wu said, and Mo Chenxuan nodded.
After stocking the first floor, the two went to the second and third floors.
The second floor was for kitchenware, electronic equipment, and such, while the third floor had clothes, shoes, bags, and beddings.
"All done." Qin Wu said, looking at the shelves with a satisfied expression.
"We should begin collecting more supplies when things settle down." Mo Chenxuan said, and Qin Wu nodded in agreement.
Although they had many supplies, it was only relative to others.
Over time, the supplies would be consumed, and their shops would become empty shells.
After leaving the supermarket, the two went to the next shop.
This shop was for weapons, protective gear, and such.
However, since they didn’t have many crystal weapons, the shop was mostly stocked with thermal weapons, including guns and grenades.
"Let’s hope Luo Zhan and the others will develop a crystal weapon soon." Qin Wu said.
"Luo Zhan is very talented. I believe it won’t be long before his team successfully produces a prototype crystal weapon." Mo Chenxuan said, and Qin Wu nodded.
In this way, the two moved around the territory and by the end of the day, all the relevant places were furnished and stocked.
After that, they drove back to Villa Eight, had a shower, and rested on the sitting room sofa.
"I am tired." Qin Wu complained.
"Do you want a massage?" Mo Chenxuan asked, but Qin Wu shook her head.
In fact, she did want a massage.
However, she knew Mo Chenxuan was also tired and didn’t want to disturb his rest.
"I will just drink more space water." She said, but Mo Chenxuan smiled and gently pushed her to lie down with her legs on his lap.
"Our people can begin moving tomorrow." He said, and Qin Wu hummed with a distracted expression.
"The researchers and one-third of the army can move first." The man continued, but Qin Wu didn’t pay attention.
Instead, she closed her eyes and enjoyed the massage.
Time passed and before they knew it, it was dawn of the next day.
Since they had already made all the arrangements, Mo Chenxuan and Qin Wu didn’t personally coordinate the resettling. Rather, they left the base and began investigating the surroundings.
"Chenxuan, do you see anything?" Qin Wu asked.
"Just some scattered zombies running around." Mo Chenxuan said, and Qin Wu sighed in relief.
"At least they have yet to begin gathering." She said.
"It won’t be long though."
"I know."
After investigating the surroundings, the two returned to the base and soon met Uncle Zhang.
"Did everything go well?" Qin Wu asked, and Uncle Zhang nodded.
"Six thousand survivors have already moved to the territory." The man said, but soon frowned.
"What’s the matter?" Mo Chenxuan questioned.
"We need more testing kits." Uncle Zhang said, and Mo Chenxuan nodded.
Their territory had just been established, and its research institute was not capable of producing zombie virus testing kits.
Considering this, they could only trade with the base’s research institute for the time being.
"Let Xu Fei and Lin Rongrong handle this." Qin Wu said.
After all, Xu Fei was in charge of the territory’s finances, and Lin Rongrong was the chief of health and education.
"I know what to do." Uncle Zhang said and continued reporting.
Half an hour later, he left the sitting room and the two settled down to relax.
Two days passed in the blink of an eye, and before they knew it, it was the morning of the seventh day of July.
This was also the day scheduled for the base meeting.
