Book 3, Chapter 167: Cutting Down The Physical Form

By this point, Aunt Yu’s bracelet had turned completely black, and she was forced to retreat outside Meng Huang’s range of attack.

When she looked at the commencing fight, her heart raced in alarm.

Chen Chuan remained a certain distance from Meng Huang and showed no intention of retreating.

Dozens of huge limbs chased after him, but he was able to avoid them at a hair’s breadth. Loud crashes echoed nonstop in the underground space.

The limbs were tough and contained great power. Each hit caused the floor and walls to shatter, and pits formed. Even a Third Limit martial artist would end up heavily injured the moment one of those limbs touched them.

Most urgently, Aunt Yu noticed that Chen Chuan’s bracelet and accessory weren’t going to last much longer, and she got worried. If this continued, it would be difficult for them to stop this creature from heading further inside.

Mr. Meng has a backup plan, but...

While she was thinking, she sensed a powerful biofield expanding outward, as if it was brewing up something. In shock, she whipped her head upward. “What’s this?”

Chen Chuan no longer dodged the attacks. Instead, he stood still as wisps of white steam rose from his body. It was as if his entire body was burning up.

As he watched the huge limb coming down at him, he didn’t move to dodge it. He clenched his fists tight, activated his refined force, and threw a punch upward.

Boom!

A loud, thunder-like rumble rang out, and Chen Chuan punched the limb. Wave-like ripples spread out on the limb, and it fell on the ground, as if it had lost all its strength.

Another limb charged at Chen Chuan, and he struck it from the side. It was sent crashing on the ground so hard that it trembled nonstop.

That limb was larger than Chen Chuan, but he had managed to send it flying with just a smack. The disparity between expectation and reality was astonishing.

Aunt Yu’s heart trembled in shock. But no matter what, she was a Third Limit martial artist, and based on Chen Chuan’s stance and rhythm of his attacks, she knew what he was doing.

It was an advanced form of refined force usage.

While the limb had come charging at full strength, it wasn’t able to use refined force. As long as a martial artist could blast refined force into it before it could release its full power, they could destroy it.

Yet even if Aunt Yu knew about it, she couldn’t do it. Technique wasn’t even the deciding factor for this. She could do it through observing the limb’s movement rhythm, and she believed that Chen Chuan had been avoiding all the attacks just now for this moment. The deciding factor was the incredible amount of power required to destroy the limb.

She might be able to do it once or twice if she used the secret power-boosting technique passed down through generations, but she wouldn’t be able to do it as easily as Chen Chuan did.

Aunt Yu stared at Chen Chuan. Great power was contained within his body. It was no wonder why the Resolution Department had sent only one officer over. Suddenly, she felt that they might be able to stop Meng Huang even with just the two of them.

She made up her mind and took a few steps back to swallow a red pill she carried with her at all times. Then, she sat down in a meditative position. After a few rhythmic breaths, the color of the flower and vine patterns on her skin turned darker. The skin around her eyes also turned dark purple, as if she had put on eyeshadow.

She intended to release all her blood essence and activate the foundation of her mind, then throw herself into battle again.

In just two breaths, Chen Chuan had managed to disable more than ten limbs. They all fell to the ground. But at that moment, the first limb he struck down started squirming.

Chen Chuan didn’t give it a chance and swung the fully charged Frost King Saber at it. A crescent-shaped saber flash moved past the limbs before retreating to Chen Chuan’s side. Then, another crescent-shaped saber flash shot in another direction. After a few slashes, the saber dimmed.

In just a moment, all the limbs on the ground had been cut into several sections.

Chen Chuan could sense the saber trembling faintly in his hands. The thing inside it had become much more active.

He looked up and tightened his grip over the saber. Then, he walked past the plumes of black smoke coming out of the cut wounds toward Meng Huang.

A shadow slithered silently on the ground behind Chen Chuan. Suddenly, it shot up, turned into a limb, and tried to bind him, but was cut several times and reduced to pieces before falling on the ground.

Chen Chuan didn’t stop walking. He continued onward and soon arrived near Meng Huang’s large body. An eyeball appeared on the part that should have been the back of Meng Huang’s head and stared at Chen Chuan for a bit before the smoke drifting about retreated.

This allowed Chen Chuan to see the creature in its full glory. It was almost seven meters tall, and two extra arms had grown from Meng Huang’s shoulders, and another two from his waist. His body remained in the shape of a human, but he was stuck to the door like a spider.

Once Chen Chuan got closer, Meng Huang detached himself from the door. With a spin, he landed on the ground, and his body started rapidly changing again. More eyeballs appeared all over him, along with thick, keratin shells. The eyeballs were in the gaps between the keratin shells. They stared unblinkingly, but occasionally flickered. It was a bizarre sight.

Chen Chuan looked up at Meng Huang’s tall body. His legs were planted firmly on the ground while the squirming small tentacles moved about slowly beyond the range of his saber.

After the dozens of eyes had their fill staring at Chen Chuan, Meng Huang bent down. The two arms on his shoulders rose up, spread out, and came swinging down.

Chen Chuan leapt backwards. The two hands slammed together not far from him and let out a loud clap. The shockwave caused his hair and clothes to dance.

Shadows suddenly fell above his head, and Chen Chuan continued moving back. The two arms on Meng Huang’s shoulders came swinging down, and the fists created two huge pits.

When Chen Chuan avoided the attacks, Meng Huang stomped on the ground, and with the help of the arms on his waist, he charged forward. His huge body filled up the room, and his feet caused the ground to tremble.

Chen Chuan shifted rapidly and dodged to the side. At the same time, he dragged the saber past the keratin shell on Meng Huang’s elbow. A gash appeared, and smoke leaked out.

With the waist arms as support, Meng Huang turned around rapidly to face him. All the eyes in the front of his body stared at Chen Chuan maliciously.

Chen Chuan cast his second self a glance. He was blurring out even worse and starting to flicker, as if he was about to evaporate. Clearly, there was a meaning behind why Meng Huang kept those eyes trained on him.

Chen Chuan turned back to Meng Huang. Based on his actions just now, while his appearance was very much not human, his movement rhythm and usage of limbs were from this world.

The existence from the other world had attached itself to a human, so this was not surprising. It needed to think and move through a human’s perspective. Perhaps Meng Huang’s consciousness was still the dominant one in the body.

This was a necessary concession. If Meng Huang had completely handed over control to the existence from the other world, his brain may not function normally anymore, and his actions wouldn’t follow the realms of logic.

Despite that, they had gained great power after merging.

Still, having great power didn’t necessarily mean that they knew how to use it.

While these thoughts were running in Chen Chuan’s mind, Meng Huang charged at him. A punch came swinging down from above. It was so large that it practically enveloped his entire body.

As Chen Chuan watched the fist coming down at him, he lowered his center of gravity, planted one foot in front of him and the other behind, shoved a hand upward, and, with a bang, stopped the fist’s charge.

He was able to hold his own in the clash.

Chen Chuan kept his eyes trained on Meng Huang. White fog surrounded the hand he had shoved up, and his eyes were calm. Martial arts fights were a battle of wits and technique. Even though Meng Huang had a huge body, he was only able to use a small part of his strength.

Just then, Chen Chuan looked to the side and saw another arm coming at him. He pulled back a little of his strength, summoned his refined force, and yanked the arm from above to the side.

Meng Huang lost his balance, and his large, heavy body stumbled to the side. The waist arms propped him up so that he wouldn’t fall. Meanwhile, the other shoulder arm refused to give up and still tried to grab its target.

Chen Chuan used the force he generated when he yanked Meng Huang to the side to shift outward. Then, he quickly and naturally turned around and moved toward Meng Huang’s torso.

At that moment, Meng Huang’s sides were completely exposed. With a stomp on the ground, Chen Chuan stopped. He gripped his saber tightly with both hands and thrust forward. The long blade pierced Meng Huang’s neck from below.

But the attack wasn’t fatal. One of Meng Huang’s waist arms immediately came charging over. Chen Chuan pulled back the saber and retreated. At the same time, he lifted his arms up and brought them down.

Shing!

Half of an arm was severed.

Before Meng Huang could attack again, Chen Chuan quickly moved back once more to avoid Meng Huang trying to squash him after he flipped around and started chasing him.

His bracelet and accessory turned completely black and shattered before falling to the ground. The clear clattering sound was a warning as a wave of tentacles immediately surrounded him to bind him.

But Chen Chuan didn’t care. He swung his saber first to the left, then to the right, and opened up a path for himself. His eyes were trained on Meng Huang. The huge thing was still crawling rapidly toward him, though it hadn’t managed to get all its arms planted properly on the ground and stabilized itself.

Just then, someone suddenly jumped over from the side. Aunt Yu moved quickly, and she charged in from a difficult angle. She also had impeccable timing. Even if the eyes on Meng Huang’s side saw her, with his current posture, he wasn’t able to do anything to stop her.

She extended a thin hand and pushed against one of his legs. A wave of yielding force seeped into him, causing his knee to buckle, and he tilted to the side.

Chen Chuan refused to miss this chance. He jumped forward and instantly traveled more than ten meters. Then, he rammed his shoulder into Meng Huang’s, causing the creature to stumble further back.

Upon landing, Chen Chuan jumped again and took the saber with both hands before swinging it down. The saber flash came swinging down at Meng Huang’s neck, and he cut his head off.

The huge body stumbled backward a few steps before falling on its back with a loud crash. Sand-like particles poured out from the cut along with black smoke.

After a moment, they were followed by a blinding light.
