Chapter 618: Chapter 616: Thunder Operation

At noon, the man known as H threw some bread to them, and the two of them ate to stave off hunger.

After eating the bread, Wan Chu’er and Ming Wan took the opportunity to rest and gather their strength. She contacted the Crown Prince again to inform him of their current situation. However, the Crown Prince told them to stay in this small building for now. It seemed this place was safe, and these people would not harm them.

Wan Chu’er was puzzled. Temporary safety did not equate to actual safety. Who knew when these people would make a move, or which other forces might find this place? Anything unexpected could happen then.

The Crown Prince, however, said she was being paranoid and instructed her and Ming Wan to stay put, waiting for him to send the five-letter team to pick them up, forbidding her from making any independent decisions before they arrived.

The Crown Prince’s attitude was very firm, and Wan Chu’er did not argue further with him. After hanging up, her expression was solemn. She felt there was something wrong with the Crown Prince, yet she couldn’t decipher his true intentions.

Should I call Grandpa to ask? Grandpa had mentioned before that the Crown Prince’s motives might not be pure; perhaps the old man knew what was really going on.

Her hand hovered over the phone, then she withdrew it. When she left, Grandpa had said to treat this as an exercise, not to trouble him with every problem, but to first try to find a solution herself.

She rubbed the ring on her finger and thought to herself that the ring was her last resort. Since she had a fallback, she should rely on herself; thus, she quelled the urge to call Jiang Kechu.

The argument between Wan Chu’er and the Crown Prince reached Ming Wan’s ears. She bit her lip, pondering without expressing her own opinion or comforting or advising Wan Chu’er to listen to her brother’s advice.

As time ticked by, the light in the room gradually dimmed.

Dinner finally arrived, with H throwing in the bread once again. This time, Wan Chu’er did not eat; instead, she stood by the window, lost in the scenery outside.

Only the area near this small building was bare; twenty meters away, there were only large trees and bushes.

Night finally fell completely. Wan Chu’er pressed her ear to the door for a long time; the television downstairs blared loudly. Green Eyes and H were drinking, shouting obscene jokes, while Green Eyes occasionally cursed.

Wan Chu’er resumed a serious expression and said to Ming Wan, "I’ll be back soon. Wait for me here; I’ll come to get you later."

She did not plan to follow the Crown Prince’s advice to sit and wait. The outcome of this waiting was unknown, and she hated uncertainty.

Ming Wan was a bit nervous, "Can you handle it alone? Do you need me to do something?" She made no mention of her brother’s previous objections.

"No need, just stay here calmly."

"Okay, be careful." Ming Wan worriedly cautioned.

Wan Chu’er went to the window, fiddled with it briefly to open it, then slowly leaned out. After climbing outside, she had Ming Wan close the window, and then she agilely climbed down the wall, landing softly, and moved quickly through the darkness.

In the first-floor living room, Green Eyes was drinking beer while watching a boxing match on TV. Suddenly, his ears twitched, and he frowned, looking at the two men on the other end of the sofa. He barked, "Shut up!"

The scar-faced man was stunned, then glared at Green Eyes, "Fuck you!"

H was much more cautious than the scar-faced man. He clearly noticed that Green Eyes’ expression was off, so he said nothing, only looking at Green Eyes without stopping the scar-faced man from erupting.

Green Eyes abruptly pulled out a gun, pointing it at the scar-faced man’s head. The scarred man immediately wilted, begrudgingly turning to grab a bottle of beer and guzzling it.

At that moment, a not-so-loud "thud" sounded from outside, and the three of them clearly heard it. Green Eyes remained expressionless, while the scar-faced man and H cautiously grabbed their guns and stood on guard.

"What’s outside?" asked the scar-faced man.

Green Eyes replied, "I don’t know."

H thought for a moment and cautiously asked, "Did you hear something outside earlier?"

Green Eyes glanced at him without speaking, but seeing his earlier actions, the scar-faced man and H realized he must have heard something earlier, which prompted him to silence them.

They waited longer, but no sound came. The scar-faced man couldn’t resist mocking, "It’s probably just wild birds in the forest, or a cat in heat. Stop scaring yourself!"

Green Eyes frowned and said, "You two, go outside and take a look."

The scar-faced man wanted to go out and relax. Here, he felt stifled by Green Eyes, so he immediately stood up and moved outside without another word.

Unexpectedly, H stood up, not to go out, but instead headed up the stairs, grinning, "I’ll go check upstairs to see if they’re alright. After all, they’re the most important."

"I’m going!" the scar-faced man immediately said, thinking he needed to find a woman to vent his pent-up frustration. It was already dark and time to sleep.

Green Eyes again raised his gun and aimed at him, "You go outside!"

The scar-faced man glared viciously at Green Eyes, then stormed off outside angrily, while H ingratiatingly smiled and went upstairs.

Wan Chu’er was hiding in a lush tree, her figure completely concealed by the thick foliage. Her sharp eyes glinted in the dark, and she held a few stones in her hand.

She had already thrown three stones, each hitting different places and making different sounds. She pondered where to throw the next stone. What if no one came out, or if all three came out together?

Just then, the scarred man swaggered out of the house, with a gun in one hand, swearing as he headed toward the car.

After waiting for a while and not seeing anyone else come out, it seemed the scarred man was alone!

Wan Chu’er was delighted. She decisively took out her small handgun, aimed at the scarred man, and pulled the trigger.

"Bang!"

A bloody hole appeared in the scarred man’s forehead, and he fell straight down.

Meanwhile, Wan Chu’er kicked off with her feet and, using the elasticity of the tree trunk, leaped to another nearby tree, jumping from tree to tree.

When the small building’s door opened again, she silently clung to a tree trunk and stopped.

Green Eyes stood cautiously at the door with his gun, surveying the surroundings for a long moment before spotting the scarred man lying beside the car. He immediately rushed over, gasping upon seeing the scarred man’s dead face, once more raising his gun and inspecting his surroundings vigilantly.

All he saw was darkness, with nothing else in sight!

"Fuck! What bastard son of a bitch did this? Show yourself!" Green Eyes shouted angrily.

Nothing but the endless darkness answered him.

Wan Chu’er quietly lifted her gun, hesitating whether to take down this man as well, when suddenly someone else stumbled out of the room, revealing himself to be H.
