Chapter 431: Scheme 10: Conclusion

Nicholas wasn’t just losing control over the venture, he was losing control over his own company.

"You’re asking me to give my head to you to slaughter, do I look like a sheep?"

I felt a bit of pain at the insulting reference toward the creature which provided the world with comfortable wool, but focusing on the issue at hand, I slowly shook my head, giving ground.

"You’re getting it wrong Nik. No one is slaughtering anyone here," I sighed. "We’re just reaching an agreement on who is better to lead in the years to come.

You have to remember the current situation is not permanent, if you get better, you can make things swing your way."

Once again, what I was saying made sense on paper, but in reality, if my plan was to pan out, Nicholas’s thinking of toppling me in the venture was a pipe dream.

By estimates, to take out 37% of shares from him, I needed to funnel more than 1 billion into the company, where was he going to see so much cash if he wanted to reverse things?

"You’re telling me you’re the better man to lead," Nicholas snorted. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

"Yeah. As you know, I got transferred 20 billion dollars, but what you might not know is that I earned that money in a single day’s work.

Swear to God."

I raised my right palm to show my sincerity, but then gasps came from the side, and I looked at Takken and Schonfield who appeared flabbergasted.

"You didn’t tell them."

Resting like a king, the old man snorted again, and I narrowed my eyes at the two men opposite me.

"Do we agree that information will never leave this room?"

I didn’t need to stress it much clearly the information that I got a transfer of 20 billion dollars was having the effect that it normally should.

Takken and Schonfield didn’t trust their mouths, so they eagerly nodded their heads, fear present in their gaze.

"You would expect more spine from such businessmen," I thought, understanding further why a power like Nicholas had failed to transcend the times.

As I turned to Nicholas, I cried internally at his lack of caution toward my accomplishments, I mean, it’s not like he knew I got paid for escaping the most certain of deaths.

"I’m leaving the venture."

Silence descended after Nicholas said those words, the decisiveness piercing.

"No, you’re not."

"Why?" he chuckled, deciding to have a drink.

"Because you don’t have the money to pay for a breakout. Remember the terms of the venture."

"That’s an interesting assumption, Mr. Lawson."

"I’m not assuming.

You need me more than I need you."

Nicholas was not in a position to leave the venture, but I had more than made my strong desire to get him as a client for my hedge fund clear.

He might not be able to know why, but he could smell the desperation coming from me.

"How so?" the old man laughed, interested in what I had to say.

"You mentioned investing 200 million dollars in Kirsch Motors but let’s be honest, that’s a lie.

It’s close to 500 million channelled in the past 3 years, and you two shouldn’t feel too guilty for what you’ve done.

Nicholas is currently in about $800 million in debt as he took out a loan to purchase a sizable number of shares in Jeep."

"How do you know that?" Nicholas immediately erupted.

"I own shares in Ford, remember. I’m not exactly blind to the happenings in the automobile industry.

You can’t hide the numbers. There was literally a board meeting about a week ago concerning new investors in the Jeep company."

Nicholas’s fist tightened, and I nodded.

"You are deep in debt. You dare not leave the venture."

For a member who wanted to leave the venture before its running contract was over, for the next 5 months, they would have to cut down the number of barrels produced by their oil field by half.

For someone like Nicholas that needed every bit of money he could scrounge up, this was suicide.

The man gripped his fists tight, his arms trembling, then he let out a heavy breath and closed his eyes.

It was clear what had just happened, but I wasn’t done.

"Will you also be investing in my hedge fund?"

"No," Nicholas growled.

He drawled his words, turning his head as he opened his eyes to look straight at me, an aura of death actually projecting from him.

My eyes widened in surprise as I had never experienced such an aura from an ordinary individual.

From a businessman like Nicholas I expected authority and dominance, but clearly I had pushed him to the edge, enough to be entered into his book of death.

"That is not up for negotiation."

"And we’re not discussing it. I’m not giving you any more power over him than you already have."

"I’ll pay for the 37% but take only 17."

Nicholas didn’t say a word.

"I’m trying to do business here Nik, talk to me."

A vein popped on Nicholas’s head probably from the nickname I’d given him and he stood to his feet.

"You can return to your boat, this meeting is over."

The old man walked away, clearly suffocated by the pressure, and I tried to see if I could give him a heart attack.

"If you don’t invest, I’ll run the venture to the ground. I’ll dig through the books and make sure our oil fields work only at 30% capacity."

Nicholas paused and then turned to me with a questioning expression.

"Look man," I said raising my hands, "I don’t want your money, it will always be yours I just want you to trust me to manage it."

"You want word to spread that Nicholas Sawut had trusted over 20% of his wealth into the hands of Marcys Lawson.

With your trading knowledge you trust you’ll flip that money by several times.

You’ll spoil me rotten with the profits you make, and when others see me making it big, from all parts of the world they’ll rush to you my name a guarantor of your legitimacy.....

I also know about you Marcus"
