Chapter 125: Competition and Rewards

Inside His Inner World.

Under the open Sky.

Boom!

A delicate yet powerful punch struck the earth, sending a tremor rippling across the lush expanse of the Dimensional Space.

Dust rose in its wake, and nearby stones cracked under the force.

"What has gotten into you, Second Master?" Malthius asked cautiously. "Are you feeling fine?"

Evernight straightened her posture with composed elegance.

"Nothing. I was merely relieving some stress." she answered. Her voice was calm, though a faint quiver betrayed something deeper.

"Ooh, could this be that thing humans call jealousy?" chimed Alpha, her skeletal frame draped in shadowy cloth and equipped with curved bows across her spine. Mischief twinkled in the empty sockets of her skull.

Evernight shot her a cold glance. "Do not be absurd, Alpha. Why would I ever be jealous over the sight of those two embracing?"

Despite her cold response, her expression tightened. She walked away with graceful strides, each step resonating with the quiet authority of her growing power.

Alpha and the others exchanged skeptical glances. Because, they had seen it. The fury that flared in her crimson eyes when Master Igaris embraced that human girl. It was jealousy, plain as day. But none dared speak further. To provoke her now would be unwise.

Evernight sighed and took her seat upon a wooden chair carved from enchanted ash. She sat with the poise of a queen, yet her restlessness was palpable.

"I am growing bored," she muttered. "When will I be allowed to go out again?"

Thousand undeads and beastly subordinates sighed in unison following her. They had grown restless in these idle days.

"We have been idle for far too long, lady Evernight," said Serynthia, the semi-dragon, her deep voice low and respectful. "My lady, do you know when we shall see battle again? When will our Master begin the true war?"

Evernight’s jaw clenched. Her fingers curled slightly, nails pressing into the wood.

"How would I know?" she muttered bitterly. "He hardly speaks to me anymore. He has a new companion now, does he not?"

Her voice was cold, but the pain behind it could not be hidden from those who had long followed her.

On the other hand, Igaris had been summoned by the Sect Master to the Meeting Hall.

Only two figures were present within that grand chamber: Sect Master Fang Tianhai and Igaris himself.

The hall was quiet, its silence broken only by the faint rustle of spiritual wind flowing through the open stone-latticed windows. Sect Master Fang sat upon a carved jade chair, hands clasped, gaze steady.

"Yuhan, were you able to learn any of the techniques stored within the Scripture Hall?" he asked, his tone calm yet filled with expectation.

Igaris stood respectfully, his expression composed. "Yes, I did, Sect Master."

"Oh? Truly? Then tell me, what was the name of the technique you mastered?"

But Igaris merely shook his head.

"I cannot say, Sect Master. It is a secret."

Fang’s brows knit together slightly in confusion. His aura stirred faintly, but before he could ask further, Igaris continued.

"Please do not misunderstand. I do not say this out of arrogance. The truth is, if I were to reveal the name of the technique, the sect might risk the wrath of the Heavens themselves. It is a Taboo Technique."

Fang Tianhai froze. His breath caught for a moment, and his fingers curled slightly against the armrest.

"A Taboo Technique...?" he muttered under his breath.

His mind raced, trying to recall which ancient forbidden concepts were stored in that place. There were several—each sealed away by the Founders for good reason. Yet none were believed truly comprehensible. Until now.

Realizing the gravity of the matter, Fang exhaled slowly and spoke with care. "Very well. If that is the case, there is no need to speak further of it, Dao Child."

He paused for a moment, studying the young man before him.

"But there is another matter. The Imperial Grand Tournament will be held in just a few months’ time. It is a sacred competition where the strongest youths from across the empire gather to prove their strength. We are allotted limited slots to send our disciples, and most will need to qualify through the internal selection trials."

Then he leaned slightly forward, his gaze sharpened.

"However, we are considering sending you directly. As the newly acknowledged Dao Child of the Soaring Dragon Sect, you are not bound by the same rules as the others."

Fang’s voice softened.

"Still, you have only recently stepped onto the Martial Path. We understand this. You are not obligated to participate. Take your time if you need it. The choice is yours."

Igaris stood still for a moment, absorbing the Sect Master’s words. Then he asked calmly, "What is the reward for the Champion?"

Sect Master Fang blinked in surprise at the question, then waved his hand hurriedly.

"Dao Child, you misunderstand. We are not expecting you to become the Champion. If you manage to enter the top one hundred, that alone would bring great honor to our sect. That would be more than enough."

"I understand your concern," Igaris replied with a slight nod. "Still, I would like to know what the Champion receives."

Fang Tianhai sighed, then leaned back slightly in his chair before answering, "For the Champion, His Majesty the Emperor will personally bestow a Heaven Grade Martial Art, along with one million beast cores."

Igaris’s eyes widened, and his calm expression briefly flickered with astonishment. "One million beast cores?"

"Yes," the Sect Master confirmed. "Even our entire sect combined does not possess such a quantity. It is an unimaginable fortune. And that is not all. Depending on the overall ranking of our disciples, the sect itself will be rewarded with additional resources and greater prestige."

"I see," Igaris murmured, lowering his gaze thoughtfully.

A moment of silence passed before he looked up and declared,

"Then I will join. That is my final decision."

His voice was firm and resolute.

Fang Tianhai stared at him for a moment, reading the unshakable confidence in his tone.

"Very well," he said with a slow nod. "I shall begin the necessary preparations."
