Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster-Chapter 224: Diederich And Rael
Chapter 224: Diederich And Rael
[Rael’s POV]
Well well well…
The fucker really did have a backup plan, didn’t he? Rael scoffed, staring at the giant cocoon in front of him. But Celestara has a lot of powerful people present. Zafira, Evelyn, and even Linlin.
He really wanted to simply go in and break Diederich, but he realized it wouldn’t be so simple.
Sure, he could affect the mind, but there was this strange power resisting Rael, and from what little he could feel, it was extremely dangerous.
But… Rael focused on Diederich’s cocoon and used Premium Overdrive.
He thought it would be the Pride skill, but it seemed like he might’ve watched one too many cartoons in the past.
It’s still an interesting skill. It’s pretty high-ranked too.
But there was one problem.
•—Balance: 3,442,002,183 Trell—•
He was nowhere near being able to afford it.
But despite that, he stopped wasting time and finally entered Diederich’s body.
He was only given two seconds, but that was enough for Rael to reach his body and send over all the money Diederich had.
And yet, what he saw was absolutely disappointing.
Only? You rule a giant fucking country, and you don’t have money? How does that even work? Rael thought in disbelief as not even a moment later, his vision shifted back into his own body.
“What did you do to me!” Diederich yelled, alarmed as he checked his body all over. Then, he shot Rael one more glare.
Yet Rael didn’t react much at all. Instead, he prepared to fight.
The aura that was coming off Diederich was intense, it even distorted the surroundings.
He hadn’t known what level Diederich was before today, and frankly, he was pretty shocked.
<(x1) ??? Human [Level 2,552] has been Threaded!>
That meant he already had the option to Ascend into Grade 1.
No wonder players were never allowed to go near this guy… he’s a powerhouse, Rael thought with a sigh and snapped his fingers.
But that wasn’t the only thing he snapped.
[MTP -150M 5,834B/5,984B (+1,137B Excess) (x1 Neural Collapse)]
-57,849,166,436 [57.85B]! Critical Hit! (x1 Neural Collapse)
Despite the massive damage number, Diederich only furrowed his brows as a trickle of blood ran down his ears.
A moment of silence ensued as the two stared at one another warily.
Diederich let out a sigh as he tightened the grip on his halberd. “You really shouldn’t be kept alive. No wonder my son died… It was a blunder on my part.”
“It was more than a blunder, I’m afraid,” Rael said flatly. “You convinced him I kidnapped your children. Why would I do that? Do you think I need some hostages to conquer your kingdom?”
Of course, Diederich stared at him as if he were an idiot.
“Young man, you think this war is black and white,” Diederich commented with a frown, his muscles bulging further. “You think just because you can overpower most soldiers, you’ll win?”
He chuckled. “I suppose it makes sense considering neither you nor your wife have any experience in this field. You’re just two headless monkeys who are about to learn the reality of the world we all live in.”
With those words, Diederich kicked the ground.
The sand gradually parted, flying all into the sky and revealing a black cobblestone platform beneath them.
It had intricate symbols carved into it, ones Rael couldn’t understand.
Diederich coughed, getting Rael’s attention.
“Before you were born, Aztera was a country ruled by sovereigns who respected strength first, political knowledge second. Most altercations were solved through combat. Even elections were conducted the same way.”
Diederich stepped forward, his halberd dragging across the black cobblestone.
“I became a ruler through combat,” Diederich added slowly as his golden hair began to float, emitting a powerful aura that caused the remaining sand particles to float. They suddenly turned to glass and fell to the ground, shattering.
“What do you think the outcome will be, Rael Sutekh?” Diederich asked coldly. “Who would win? A ruler who came into power by marrying a woman or a man who rose up and took everything with just his capabilities alone?”
Rael stared at Diederich for a few moments, then shrugged.
“Be that as it may, if I can kill you here, a big weight will be off my shoulders. All I’ll have to do after that is deal with the people,” Rael replied flatly.
As optimistic and naïve as it might’ve come off, that was just a simple plan he had come up with.
But now that he stood in front of Diederich, he was really starting to doubt himself.
Using another Neural Collapse was possible, but a third was not. Even two was pushing it, since he’d experience serious mental fatigue from casting something of that caliber.
But since he only had the choice of retreating or fighting, Rael chose the latter.
After all, he had a few aces up his sleeve, one of which was this effect:
[Ultimate Skill – Premium Rebalance]
Effect: Redistributes the target’s stats, nerfing their strongest attributes and boosting their weakest.
Limit: Can only be used once per enemy.
Per-Target Cooldown: 5 minutes.
This is definitely not going to be easy… Rael thought with a sigh, pulling out the Violin Blade.
He glanced at Diederich, who confidently had his halberd slung across his shoulder, looking at Rael as if he were a bug.
Then he raised the halberd into the air, and it began to emit a bright golden light.
Yet all Rael could feel was danger, and even his 1-second Foresight was flickering.
Rael’s brows furrowed.
Something big is coming…
