Raised From The Wild-Chapter 378: Reminds Her Of Someone
"Yes, I have, Princess. But Athena should also have access, and ExZee could tap into Athena." Leon replied. His voice was deep, but it carried a hint of gentleness in it.
"ExZee, can you check how many persons are already affected by the virus?"
The watch on Princess Amaya’s wrist illuminated, and a cute, chubby girl appeared as a holographic projection in front of Princess Amaya.
"I am sorry, Princess. My level of authority is not enough to access highly classified information. This is what I got. The virus has a name. It is called the Octa Virus and originated in the northern part of Ra-Iya. It was named after Leanne Octavio, the first person who died from the virus five years ago. She was one of the scientists who did an expedition to discover unknown species in the forests of Ra-Iya." The way that ExZee narrated was like she was telling a story.
"The virus then was not as contagious as it is now." ExZee continued.
Princess Amaya tapped her watch, and ExZee disappeared.
Leon’s fingers danced across the sleek, black keyboard of his laptop as he furrowed his brow in concentration. He momentarily tore his gaze away from the screen and turned to look at Princess Amaya, seated beside him on the plush couch.
The situation seems concerning. Usturia has reported over a hundred cases within two hours of the governor’s son disembarking from the plane. Everyone aboard the plane has already displayed symptoms of the virus. Furthermore, his mother and two siblings have also been admitted to the hospital.
Vasquez rushed to catch up with him, his face displaying disbelief as he absorbed the data. "Wait, Chaneya has accumulated over 300 cases, and there have been ten recorded deaths?" The situation was more serious than he thought.
Princess Amaya gracefully stood up from the black couch, her determined gaze fixed on her guards. "Leon, Vasquez, we urgently require the ampules delivered to this location without delay. The Nower research institute is better equipped to mass-produce them than our team back in Lireya."
"I’ll contact Dave to have it delivered. He can transport it using Skylar Technologies’ experimental rocket-powered research aircraft, the Apollo-X99," Leon blurted out without thinking much. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
Princess Amaya looked at him, surprised. "You... how did you know Dave? How come I never saw you before, and he never mentioned you as well?"
Leon stiffened, but only for a split second. He placed the laptop on the coffee table and casually crossed his right leg over his left. His action was elegant. It reminded Princess Amaya of someone.
"Dave is doing a lot of research for the previous company I worked for, and we crossed paths several times," Leon said matter-of-factly.
Princess Amaya threw him a side glance. She had taken a few steps as she went to the mini ref to get some cut fruits. When she looked back, she saw a profile of a person that she missed for a long time.
Clang.
The cut fruit on a plastic tray fell on the vinyl tile.
Leon hurriedly stood from the couch and, in two strides, was beside Princess Amaya. "What’s wrong, Princess? Are you alright?" he asked worriedly.
Vasquez had also approached them. He picked up the small plastic tray with the fruit. It was good that the cling wrap that covered the fruit had not been removed yet.
"I’m doing okay. I was thinking about someone," she said, her voice tinged with sadness. She scolded herself. When she first saw Charles Gray, she associated him with Marx. She even felt comfortable in his company. Now, she was doing the same with her guard.
’Wake up, Amaya. Are you longing for him so deeply that you find glimpses of him in those who bear resemblances to him?’ Her smile was tinged with self-deprecation.
Leon tenderly lifted his hand and hesitated before placing it on her head. His fingers hovered as if contemplating running through her hair, but he held back. His lips parted as if preparing to speak, but he decided against it at the last moment, swallowing his unspoken words.
Vasquez, known for his reconnaissance skills, witnessed every one of Leon’s subtle movements. Despite this, he made the conscious decision to avert his gaze. He felt a deep sense of pity for Princess Amaya. It was evident to him that she was still nursing a broken heart, unable to move on from the incident that had transpired two years prior.
Princess Amaya took the plastic tray from Vasquez. She removed the thin film that covered the fruits and relished the sweet aroma of the fresh fruits. After a deep breath to calm her nerves, she settled back onto the plush couch and delicately speared a piece of fruit with a small fork, savoring each bite as she enjoyed the refreshing flavors. It helped her forget the loneliness that she felt earlier.
Leon sat beside her. His body was tensed as he continued typing on his laptop. From time to time, he cast a furtive glance at the Princess. His tensed muscles relaxed when he noticed the Princess was no longer sad.
"Princess, Dave will arrange to deliver the pre-processed milagrosa herbs, and we should receive them in four hours," Leon said before closing his laptop and focusing on the Princess.
Princess Amaya’s expression became complex as she gazed at Leon. How could he be aware of the milagrosa? It seemed evident that he had a strong connection with Dave.
Princess Amaya was hesitant as she expressed her concern, "But we haven’t discussed this with Doctor Wallace and the management of the institute."
"Don’t worry," Leon reassured her, "I’ve already taken care of everything."
Princess Amaya noticed that Leon seemed accustomed to being in control. His demeanor was more reminiscent of a CEO than a typical guard.
In the end, the Princess took out her cell phone and sent a message to Dave.
’How well do you know Leon Guerrero?’
Dave: ’Leon Guerrero? Who the hell is he?’
