Rabbit Must Die-Chapter 634 - 233 Power Pitfall_1
"Patriarch, you must take care of this matter; the enemy is too cruel. The eleventh elder was merely out for a walk when suddenly a great hand descended from Heaven and grabbed him by the neck, snatching him away... sob, sob..." It was still the earliest disciple who spoke, the one who initially served the twelfth elder.
After the twelfth elder disappeared, he had been transferred to serve the eleventh elder, and in just one day, the eleventh elder followed in the twelfth elder’s footsteps.
Everyone’s faces were extremely ugly, and they looked at the young man with a strange gaze, as if seeing a harbinger of plague.
The Phoenix Nest Patriarch, Hongran Daoist, had an equally grim expression. She had just promised to personally guard the Phoenix Nest and protect everyone, but in the blink of an eye, another elder was gone! The slap to her face couldn’t have been any quicker!
However, even the heart of Hongran Patriarch grew cold. The enemy was kidnapping people right under her eyes, especially the second time, when it happened despite her being prepared. The enemy completely avoided her detection, which meant their strength was somewhat terrifying. At least not below hers!
"Patriarch, the enemy has repeatedly targeted our Phoenix Clan. It seems they’re specifically after us. In my opinion, why don’t we close off the mountain for a while? Let’s figure out who the enemy is before making further plans," suggested the tenth elder, crying out with a sobbing voice.
Initially, the great elder wanted to lash out upon hearing someone showing weakness but fell silent upon realizing it was the tenth elder speaking.
The others also looked at the tenth elder with worry and sympathy, particularly the ninth elder, who added, "Tenth elder, don’t inflate the enemy’s arrogance while deflating our own prestige." After saying this, the ninth elder’s tone changed as he continued: "Closing the mountain is a bit much, but it would still be best for everyone to stay within the Phoenix Nest. Tenth elder, your peak is too remote; why don’t you move here where we can all live together?"
The tenth elder nodded hastily, "Let’s settle on that."
Upon seeing this, Hongran Daoist slammed the table, "Enough! Look at yourselves, scared like this? Zhao Yufan is right, what our Phoenix Clan lacks the most now is not something else, but courage!"
The tenth elder looked at Hongran Daoist with a pained expression.
After glancing at the tenth elder, Hongran Daoist sighed and said, "The enemy is undoubtedly strong, but we are not without a chance to fight back. That they dare not show themselves, only sneak attacks, has already revealed their limits. Even if they are stronger than us, it’s only to a certain degree. Tenth elder, I must ask you to take on some discomfort and frequently venture out these next few days... I want to see who it is that dares to be so rampant!"
Upon hearing this, the tenth elder’s legs turned to jelly, but thinking about how this was a trap set by Hongran Daoist, he felt somewhat more at ease. After all, even though he was just bait, he was not cannon fodder. If the enemy appeared, there would naturally be people lying in ambush ready to attack from all sides.
With this in mind, the tenth elder said, "I will heed the Patriarch’s commands!"
Hongran Daoist instructed the other elders, "Go set up the Space Locking Array. Once the enemy shows up, I want to ensure there’s no return for them!"
Everyone complied!
The great elder, filled with concern, said, "Patriarch, what if the enemy delays their appearance?"
Hongran Daoist responded without hesitation, "We wait, I refuse to believe they won’t come!"
Meanwhile, at Fang’s mansion!
"You’re really not going to eat it?" Fang Ya asked, looking at the rabbit in front of her.
Qin Shou patted his round belly, "Sister, that chicken was too fatty. Truth be told, it’s fine as an occasional meal, but after having it for two meals in a row, it’s starting to be a bit much."
Fang Ya nodded, "Alright then, what would you like to eat?"
Qin Shou tilted his head, pondering, "How about we get some seafood?"
Fang Ya subconsciously asked, "Then which of the Four Seas Dragon Kings do you think would taste better?"
Upon hearing this, Qin Shou was immediately dumbfounded. His talk of seafood was actually about the most ordinary, unenchanted crabs and the like. He had never imagined that the moment his sister opened her mouth, she would toss the Four Seas Dragon Kings into the pot for him to choose from.
However, after giving it some thought, Qin Shou realized that the Four Seas Dragon Kings were only at the level of Earthly Immortals. If one disregarded the connection with the Heavenly Court, the fact that they had not ended up in a pot for so many years was quite miraculous in itself.
Although Qin Shou didn’t have much of a relationship with the Four Seas Dragon Kings, he also didn’t bear them any significant grudges. So, Qin Shou shook his head and said, "Let’s just get something ordinary. I think Yangcheng Lake’s hairy crabs are quite good."
Fang Ya clearly understood Qin Shou. After he suggested this, she didn’t insist anymore.
Over the next two days, Qin Shou stayed in Fang’s mansion without going out. Fang Ya actually got him Yangcheng Lake hairy crabs, all uniform nineth of a pound in size! Qin Shou ate them with oil dripping from his mouth, proudly muttering to himself, "I bet the crab farmers in Yangcheng Lake never imagined there were such big fellows hidden at the bottom of the lake..."
On the third day, as soon as dawn broke, Fang Ya took Qin Shou and left Fang’s mansion.
Meanwhile, on the Xuanhuang Continent, in the main hall at the very center of several grand palaces, a group of people stood with extremely gloomy expressions on their faces.
The State Preceptor sat on his throne with an equally ugly expression, clutching two white bone beads so hard in his hand that they made creaking noises.
Outside the grand hall, a few soldiers of the Demon Clan dragged four people slowly forward. These people were none other than Qin Shou’s old acquaintances: Feidan, Mountain Spider, Guiche, and Golden Toad.
The four of them had ashen faces, each of them cursing under their breath with clenched teeth.
"Damn rabbit, don’t let me find you, or I’ll skin you alive!" Feidan hissed through clenched teeth.
Golden Toad nodded in agreement, "Yeah, skin him sooner or later!"
Guiche said with a dark face, "I want to fry him in oil and eat him! If I can’t, I’ll write my name backward forever!"
Mountain Spider nodded along, grinding his teeth as he said, "That rabbit is just too much. Stealing Lord Feidan’s medicine is one thing, but to actually steal the hope of our Demon Clan’s rise, the Pill Furnace, is another. Worse still, he just took off, but he left us with a trap!"
Golden Toad added, "Damn it, if I had known that the hole led to the national teacher’s wife’s bathroom, I would’ve died before I went in there. I’m so wronged!"
Mountain Spider, Guiche, and the others also had a look of utter frustration...
It turned out the tunnel dug by Qin Shou ultimately led to the national teacher’s wife’s bathroom! The group had been chasing the rabbit all the way down, and the result was predictable... To make matters worse, just as they got in, the national teacher’s wife was about to undress. They ended up gawking at each other for a long while until they were directly imprisoned by the outraged State Preceptor.
In the State Preceptor’s words, "If the Demon Clan weren’t so short on manpower in the Heavenly Court, I would have executed them on the spot!"
Even so, at this morning’s court, they were sentenced to death by the State Preceptor.
Nevertheless, they had no idea that the hole was dug by the rabbit, but the one who had set them up was none other than the excessively protective sister of the same rabbit...
PS: Today I’ve been tormented by vomiting and diarrhea, squatting in who-knows-how-many restrooms. Dizzy and feeling awful to death, so the update is late. My apologies. After posting this Chapter, I’m going back to squatting in the restroom.
