Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law-Chapter 620 Regret (2)_1
A small private plane, part of Noah Reyes’s luxurious fleet, landed at the villa’s entrance.
After leaving the villa, Noah Reyes boarded the plane and ordered in a deep voice, "T City! Activate the defense system!"
He couldn’t seek her out, yet he couldn’t help wanting to roam around that city. After all, his Black Emperor Group was already in preparation. His presence would suggest he greatly valued the establishment of the Black Emperor Group. No one would suspect that what he actually yearned for was to bump into her again, just like on their second encounter!
「T City.」
At the Valence Group, only two days remained until the full moon celebration. All the senior management personnel of the Valence Group had received invitations to attend the full moon celebration for Ivan Horne and Jimmy Horne. However, with plenty of tasks still needing attention at the company, the managers felt somewhat overwhelmed. Attending the event meant being occupied for an entire day, which would lead to a mountain of accumulated work.
The two highest-ranking figures had not returned to the company for a long time.
Just as the managers were internally grumbling, the highest-ranking figure, CEO Glades Horne, finally appeared at the Valence Group.
During the month of Julia Bluen’s postpartum confinement, Glades Horne had barely set foot in the Valence Group office. Although the company operated under his directives, the employees below him were the ones swamped with work. Even though everyone was accustomed to his style of handling things, during their busiest moments, they couldn’t help but complain internally.
In the enormous CEO’s Office, a mountainous pile of important documents awaited Glades Horne’s personal attention.
Glades Horne calmly settled at his desk, his steady gaze scanning the documents. When he focused on his work, rapidly signing his name, he seemed almost superhuman.
Silvia Baxter had been secretly monitoring Glades Horne’s every move. As soon as Glades left the Horne Family residence, she immediately drove towards the property. With Glades away, she might be able to see Julia Bluen. She was eager to see what Julia looked like after giving birth—whether she had become more delicate or even more charming. Silvia had heard it said that women are most feminine after motherhood.
Her black Audi was stopped by the villa’s imposing gate, prompting Silvia Baxter to get out and ring the doorbell.
Hearing the doorbell, Uncle Ying came out. Upon seeing her, he asked indifferently, "Mr. Baxter, may I help you?" Surprisingly, Uncle Ying hadn’t recognized Silvia was a woman.
Her name clearly sounded feminine, but Silvia Baxter’s appearance was so masculine that Uncle Ying assumed she had simply chosen a feminine-sounding name.
"Uncle, I’m a friend of Julia’s. I’ve visited before. May I come in?" Silvia Baxter asked with a polite, faint smile.
Another request to see the Young Mistress!
Uncle Ying replied coolly, "Mr. Baxter, I’m sorry, but our Young Mistress is still in postpartum confinement and isn’t seeing visitors, especially male guests. My apologies, I have other matters to attend to." With that, Uncle Ying turned and left, not even bothering to open the gate or ask Julia if she wished to see her.
"Hey, Uncle..." Silvia Baxter couldn’t help but stomp her foot—a decidedly feminine gesture.
Without Glades Horne at home, she couldn’t get in!
RING, RING, RING...
Silvia Baxter’s phone rang. She pulled it out without looking at the number, pressed the answer button, and asked with a hint of anger, "Who’s this? What do you want? What? The Young Master is..." Silvia Baxter immediately fell silent, her furious expression instantly replaced by one of utmost deference. She nodded repeatedly, a trace of fear and awe in her voice.
After the call, Silvia Baxter cast one last, deep look at the Horne Family villa before climbing back into her car and driving away.
As the day of the little young masters’ full moon celebration drew near, Pheobe Rogers’s temper grew increasingly irritable and violent. She plotted how to evade everyone’s watchful eyes and sneak into the Emperor Hotel on the day of the celebration, and how to get close enough to Julia to kidnap her son. She knew of Glades Horne’s considerable influence and that Julia always had four bodyguards protecting her. Even if she could get near Julia and actually kidnap her son, she wouldn’t be able to escape.
She didn’t want to run away. She was resolved to throw that little brat from an upper floor and kill him with the fall!
These thoughts transformed Pheobe Rogers into a savage demon; hatred had completely consumed her sanity.
Her life was miserable, so she was determined to make Mila Anderson and her son miserable too, condemning them to a lifetime of pain!
Even if it cost her life, she considered it worth it. After all, she had lived nearly sixty years; the Horne Family’s grandson was but a newborn!
To fund this plot, this revenge, she had sold all her assets, including her apartment in the Coastal District. She was out of money, and she desperately needed funds to carry out her revenge, specifically to infiltrate the Emperor Hotel on the day of the full moon celebration.
On that day, the Emperor Hotel was entirely booked by the Horne Family and closed to outside business. All guests would be invitees of the Horne Family. Pheobe Rogers no longer dressed as glamorously as she once had. Among the guests invited by such a prominent family, none would be dressed as plainly as she currently was; she would need a complete makeover.
Because she had sold her property and rented a place elsewhere, when James Horne returned and went to the Coastal District, he couldn’t find her. He called her mobile. When she picked up and realized James was back, a flicker of excitement almost made her abandon her thoughts of revenge. However, when James met her in person, he continuously urged her to let go of her love for Gian Horne and her resentment toward Mila Anderson and her son, claiming that she was the one who was initially wrong. Everything he said took Mila’s side.
Pheobe Rogers was very angry. Very angry indeed.
In the end, her son still did not forgive her.
Wasn’t everything she did for her son?
She simply couldn’t stand living forever beneath Mila Anderson and her son, forever having to walk on eggshells around them.
Mother and son parted on unfriendly terms due to their disagreement.
James Horne’s further persuasion didn’t bring Pheobe to her senses. In reality, if she would just let everything go, James would undoubtedly take good care of her. She could still lead a life of luxury befitting Upper Class Society, as James had the means to provide that. But she was too greedy. She felt that after loyally following Gian Horne for thirty years without name or status, and having borne him a son, James, the Horne Family should let James inherit some of the family businesses, instead of letting everything stay in Glades’s hands.
