Primordial World: Big shots are all my friends-Chapter 990 - 907: Tathagata’s Campaign Against Mile
"Next time you lie, wipe your mouth first."
Gu Liang quickly raised her hand to wipe her mouth, leaving it covered in juice. Her little tuft of hair drooped, and she chuckled, "Senior brother, your orchard has so many new fruit trees. They’re delicious, and many I don’t even recognize."
"They’re all planted by Shi Ji. By the way, if you’ve eaten my stuff, you’ll have to help me with a task—clean the swimming pool for me."
Gu Liang immediately exclaimed, "Yes, I will follow the Emperor’s Dharma Decree."
Bai Jin chuckled. After all these years, Gu Liang hasn’t changed a bit. How wonderful!
"Hu E~"
With a rumble, a plump Hu E ran out from the backyard, its whole body jiggling with fat. Once a menacing Chaotic Beast, it had been raised into a chubby pet that survives by being adorable.
Hu E ran to Bai Jin’s side, nudging Bai Jin’s thigh with its fierce-looking head and let out a couple of low growls.
Bai Jin patted Hu E’s head and said with a hint of exasperation, "While I was away, you’ve turned into a fatty. How am I supposed to ride you out now? It’s quite embarrassing!"
"Roar~ Roar~" Hu E growled again, trying to please.
"Alright, let’s just treat it as a way to help you lose weight. Let’s go! We need to visit the Dao sites of the Masters and pay our respects."
Hu E immediately crouched down.
Bai Jin lightly floated up and landed on Hu E.
Hu E stood up and ran towards the outside, bursting through the gate and entering the river of time and space. Traveling through space is an absolute taboo in Primordial Time, and even Bai Jin wouldn’t dare do it recklessly, lest he get beaten up.
...
On the other side, atop the Great Snow Mountain of the Western Plateau, grand palaces stood tall, filled with Buddha Light and incessant chanting.
Maitreya Buddha returned to the Buddha Hall on the Plateau and sat down on the main Lotus Platform.
Sitting below, Randeng Buddha opened his eyes and asked, "Buddha, is Emperor Gouchen willing to extend a helping hand?"
Maitreya nodded with a smile and said, "Emperor Gouchen gave me a Magic Treasure, saying it could restrain Duo Bao Tathagata."
Randeng Buddha’s expression shifted, and he asked, "Is it a Saint’s Treasure?"
"It’s not a Saint’s Treasure! It’s just a scroll." Maitreya Buddha stretched out his hand, and a scroll appeared in his palm.
Randeng Ancient Buddha skeptically said, "Buddha, could it be that Bai Jin has tricked you? How could a mere scroll withstand the Tathagata?"
Maitreya pondered for a moment and then said with a smile, "If he didn’t want to help, he would have directly refused. Since he agreed, he shouldn’t mean me harm."
"Buddha, have you opened it to see?"
Maitreya shook his head and said, "No! Emperor Gouchen said not to open it unless faced with the Tathagata."
Randeng stared at the scroll in Maitreya’s hand and suddenly said, "Why does this scroll seem somewhat similar to your previous loan scrolls, Buddha?"
Maitreya chuckled and said, "Perhaps it’s from the same batch of crafted items! Duo Bao Tathagata doesn’t lack money and wouldn’t be foolish enough to seek loans from Bai Jin; that would only bring trouble upon himself."
"What if he’s really tricked you? Bai Jin is not to be trusted," Randeng Buddha frowned and asked. Relying on a scroll against the strongest sounds entirely unbelievable.
Maitreya’s smile disappeared, and with a deep sigh, he said, "If we truly can’t resist the Tathagata, our only retreat is in the Heavenly Court. Although Tang Sanzang has sought refuge with the Heavenly Court, he retains autonomy, which could be a viable retreat."
"Tang Sanzang can rely on the Heavenly Court because he’s of little consequence, merely a bug that cannot cause harm.
But for us to seek refuge in the Heavenly Court, the Tathagata would certainly not allow it, and the Heavenly Court may not dare to accept."
The two Buddhas suddenly fell silent, turning their heads sharply to face the West, as a vast aura, like the Heavenly Dao, emerged from the West.
Randeng Buddha solemnly said, "The Tathagata is here!"
Maitreya’s face also lost its typical smile, and a wave of trepidation arose in his heart. Now all hope rested on Bai Jin. Please don’t let me down! If you help me through this ordeal, I surely will erect a plaque for you and offer incense three times daily.
Randeng Buddha gravely said, "Let’s go! We must stop him outside the Plateau. Otherwise, if a battle begins, even if we can repel the Tathagata, the Plateau will suffer a devastating blow.
Whether the Laba Sect can establish itself succeeds or fails here."
"The Future Buddha speaks the truth!"
Maitreya Buddha and Randeng Buddha vanished from the Lotus Platform.
Outside the Plateau, a golden cloud slowly floated forth. Sitting atop the golden cloud was the Tathagata, with Guanyin Bodhisattva and Manjusri Bodhisattva standing behind.
The group gently drifted towards the Plateau, making no attempt to hide themselves, unconcerned with any preparations Maitreya might make. In their tranquility lay an indescribable dominance; the greatest disdain was in their disregard.
As the Tathagata appeared upon the Plateau, the entire Laba Sect was thrown into an uproar. All Buddhas and Bodhisattvas trembled, and although they knew that betraying Buddhism meant facing the Tathagata, they had prepared themselves for this, yet standing before the Buddha, an uncontrollable terror rose in their hearts.
For millions of years, Buddhist Disciples held the Buddha in their hearts as omniscient and omnipotent, the highest being in the Three Realms. Now, to oppose the Buddha, they lacked even the courage to make a move.
Their only option was to hold firm to their beliefs, trusting that since Maitreya Buddha dared to betray the Tathagata, he surely had a means to deal with him.
Buzz~
Ahead of the golden cloud, golden light shone brilliantly, condensing into two Golden Lotuses. Two Buddha figures transformed from illusion to reality atop the Golden Lotuses, blocking the golden cloud’s path.
The Tathagata gazed calmly at Maitreya and Randeng, a vast voice echoing between Heaven and Earth: "Why so?"
Randeng said indifferently, "If I do not leave, I shall fall in the Calamity."
"This is nonsense!"
"I long had a premonition!"
Maitreya Buddha also said, "Since you show no regard, we choose to leave."
The Tathagata glanced again at Maitreya, his mighty voice reverberating between Heaven and Earth: "The origin is the same, but there are many gates to salvation.
This seat acknowledges the Buddha Sect you’ve established, allowing you autonomy, but Buddhism cannot be divided."
Maitreya Buddha and Randeng Buddha’s expressions both shifted slightly, momentarily swayed.
Then Maitreya Buddha firmed his resolve, a mighty voice resounded: "Recognizing the body as illusory is the Buddha’s insight, seeing the mind as a mirage is the Buddha’s understanding. Realizing the emptiness of both body and heart, what difference is there between this person and a Buddha.
I am already a Buddha, why do I need your acknowledgement? I observe your Buddha Sect indulges in greed, murder, anger, and lust—a great evil in the Three Realms. Why not leave it behind, worship atop the Snow Mountain, purifying your three poisons of the heart with the Snow Mountain’s pure waters."
The Tathagata’s face darkened, "How dare you!" A mighty aura of majesty suddenly arose.
Randeng and Maitreya couldn’t help but sway a couple of times.
The Tathagata spoke with authority, "Randeng, Maitreya, out of pity for you being misled by demons, I have advised you repeatedly. If you stubbornly refuse to change, this seat shall use great power to subdue the demon."
This voice was both authoritative and domineering; the entire Plateau’s inhabitants trembled in fear, a great terror rising in their hearts. Many cultivators and mortals had already knelt down.
