Pokémon Court-Chapter 511: Fallarbor Woods Bug-type Pokémon Scenic Area Project
Chapter 511 - Fallarbor Woods Bug-type Pokémon Scenic Area Project
League Calendar, End of Year 217 – Fallarbor Town
Since the establishment of the Pokémon Contest Hall, the Fallarbor Contest has been held regularly, and now the Fallarbor Ribbon has gained recognition and is being collected by Coordinators.
In less than a year, the Fallarbor Contest has achieved a certain level of influence, all thanks to the emergence of a talented Top Coordinator from Fallarbor Town.
"What is that? Is it an Altaria?!!" A tourist in Fallarbor Town noticed a shadow passing overhead and curiously looked up.
No matter which human settlement it is, they all have strict no-fly zone regulations.
Except for special circumstances, only authorized local personnel are permitted to ride Flying-type Pokémon or allow them to fly at high altitudes without a valid reason.
"That's the Gym Leader of Fallarbor Gym," someone recognized Altaria—or more precisely, the person riding it.
"Mr. Terrance?" Upon hearing this, a passing tourist showed a surprised expression. He was a traveling Coordinator, and having heard days earlier that Terrance, who holds the title of Top Coordinator, would be a special guest at the Fallarbor Contest, he had excitedly rushed over to Fallarbor Town to participate in the contest.
The panel of judges for this Fallarbor Contest consisted of three people: a special Pokémon Contest examiner, Fallarbor Town's Nurse Joy, and Fallarbor Gym's Gym Leader Terrance.
As for Mr. Sukizo and Mr. Raoul Contesta, they were currently conducting evaluations in other regions.
"That's right, it's that Terrance. You must have just arrived in Fallarbor Town. These past few days, he's been frequently traveling between Fallarbor Woods and Fallarbor Town. I heard it's related to some kind of 'Fallarbor Woods Bug-type Pokémon Scenic Area' project. Apparently, he's currently investigating the Pokémon species and ecological environment of the forest." The person speaking seemed deep in thought as they took out a notebook and started jotting things down.
"Uh... what are you writing?"
"Big news."
...
...
It had been a few days since Terrance returned to Fallarbor Town from Sinnoh, and although it hadn't been, he had indeed been quite busy—
First, there was the issue of Gym construction. The breeding ground for Bug-type Pokémon eggs coincided with his vision for the Monarch of Wings project, prompting him to set his sights on Fallarbor Woods.
This forest was where Terrance had trained with Beautifly since childhood. He was extremely familiar with the Pokémon species, natural resources, and other aspects of Fallarbor Woods. Since he couldn't find a professional to conduct a systematic assessment of the forest in a short period, he had no choice but to do it himself.
Terrance had a general direction for his assessment, but as for the finer details, he wasn't capable of handling them alone and would have to consider them later.
He hadn't expected his scenic area proposal to have such an impact. As soon as he, the Gym Leader, submitted the proposal, it immediately sparked controversy.
On the surface, the idea sounded wonderful. But once the ecological issues of Fallarbor Woods were considered, things became far more complicated.
If Fallarbor Woods were turned into an exclusive Bug-type Pokémon scenic area, what would happen to the bird Pokémon? Where would the other Pokémon be relocated?
If the entire forest's Pokémon population were forced to migrate, how could he ensure that other ecosystems wouldn't be affected?
And if only Bug-type Pokémon remained in the forest, how could he guarantee that the ecosystem would continue functioning properly?
These were all critical questions. If they weren't resolved properly, it wouldn't just be a minor financial loss for Terrance. In the worst-case scenario, the entire forest's ecology—and even ecosystems in other areas—could be negatively impacted.
"The idea sounds great, but the pressure is immense." Terrance walked through Fallarbor Woods, feeling mentally exhausted from the past few days.
This was precisely why he had been reluctant to return too soon. Terrance knew that resolving the issues surrounding Fallarbor Gym, no matter the method, would ultimately put the greatest burden on him as the Gym Leader.
"This is the ninth Bug-type Pokémon habitat..." After surveying an area, Terrance quickly recorded his findings and then followed the map to the next area, making sure not to overlook even the smallest details.
Either he wouldn't do it at all, or if he did, he had to do it perfectly!
That was Terrance's philosophy. If there were flaws in the scenic area plan, losing his position as Gym Leader would be the least of his worries—he would undoubtedly face public condemnation as well.
Originally, having just become a Gym Leader, he shouldn't have created such a big commotion, but Terrance had his own plan, which was to "prioritize stability."
A towering building starts from the ground up. By planning ahead and setting clear goals, he intended to push the Fallarbor Woods scenic area project over the course of several years.
Although his plan might seem rushed, he had no intention of prioritizing speed or seeking quick results!
As long as this project could take shape within a few years and show some progress each year, it would remain within Terrance's expectations.
Moreover, despite enjoying many benefits as a Gym Leader, he had only just taken on the role. The idea of establishing such a large-scale scenic area was nothing short of a fantasy... He absolutely did not have the financial resources to sustain it.
Spreading out the modifications to Fallarbor Woods over time was partly due to this financial constraint.
Another reason Terrance was pushing forward with such urgency was that he couldn't oversee the project at all times.
He had to determine the personnel responsible for this project within this period, recruit professionals, and set everything in motion. In the long run, he wouldn't be able to manage every detail personally—he could only act as the overall commander.
And for such a massive project, Terrance alone could never handle it. He needed to leverage everything he could—his Top Coordinator title, his Gym Leader status—whatever was available to secure sponsorships!
Although external funding was an outside force, it was an essential component of this project.
None of this could move forward without Terrance first gathering detailed information on Fallarbor Woods.
Time passed slowly...
Terrance had spent a long time in Fallarbor Woods.
But he didn't have much time to spare—he couldn't let the scenic area project delay him too much. After all, it was just a side endeavor; his primary focus was still the research in Alola.
"It's getting late." Terrance glanced at the sky and shook his head.
Up next, he had a special role as a Pokémon Contest judge. And in the days following that, he needed to visit major universities, job markets, and online platforms to search for the right person in charge for this project.
Fortunately, even though Terrance wasn't particularly experienced in this field, there was someone among his acquaintances who could help him.
...
Even though the promotion had been relatively simple, this year's Fallarbor Contest was particularly lively.
Finally... the day before the contest!
As the registration period reached its final stage, the training grounds outside the Fallarbor Contest Hall also became bustling with activity!
"Brother Terrance, it looks like there are a lot of participants this time." On the second floor, Chisana was together with Terrance, secretly observing the Coordinators below.
"I don't get you. You already earned the Fallarbor Ribbon—what's the point of participating again?"
