Pokémon Court-Chapter 510: Four Secret Techniques and Vulpix’s Ability
Chapter 510 - Four Secret Techniques and Vulpix's Ability
It shouldn't be described as rain; rather, Castform's Hydro Pump was simply too powerful. The recoil created a brief scene of rainfall.
"Hmm..." The power was indeed much greater than when using Mystic Water.
Terrance looked at Castform, called out to it, and retrieved the Water Gem.
"As expected, the energy is gone." Terrance examined the Water Gem. After unleashing that Hydro Pump, Castform had completely absorbed all of its energy. Now, only an empty shell remained, lacking its previous luster. It seemed like it would take a long time to gather energy again.
"When you touched the Water Gem, you could clearly sense that surge of water energy, right?" Terrance asked.
Castform nodded.
"Good. That means your control over water energy is quite commendable. You didn't fail on your first attempt—well done."
"Speaking of our plan... we might not need it anymore, or rather, we may have already found the answer." Terrance lifted his head and looked at Castform, showing an expression of 'You're quite lucky.'
"A month ago, among the congratulatory gifts sent by Professor Lucci from the Weather Institute, I thoroughly studied those four weather-type moves. I must say, the Weather Institute's understanding of these weather conditions is truly ingenious." Terrance's eyes gleamed.
"Apart from top-tier Trainers... I doubt any Trainer has such profound mastery of these moves." Terrance sighed. "But even for a top-tier Trainer, it wouldn't be practical to spend so much time researching four specific moves. Rather than fixating on individual moves, overall combat ability should be the real pursuit—that's the true measure of strength."
"The Weather Institute has dedicated years to weather research. These secret techniques may just be a byproduct, but it's still an invaluable treasure. Although the training methods outlined don't entirely suit you, I've extracted many techniques from them that you can use. With these, I'm confident that I can elevate your Rain Dance, Hail, Sunny Day, and other moves beyond their previous limits!!"
Thanks to verifying it with Water Gem—and more importantly, the summary of the overtime work from the past few days—Terrance had finally derived a training method suitable for upgrading Castform's "Rain Dance" move, which is based on the secret technique provided by the Weather Institute.
The key items required for this included Mystic Water, Damp Rock, and Water Gem!
"The difficulty in refining the Rain Dance move lies in the need to absorb a large amount of water energy. My initial plan was to rely on the external environment, but finding such an environment is not easy. Mismagius was already incredibly lucky to have encountered such a location—there's no point in having unrealistic expectations."
"But with an item like the Water Gem, one major obstacle has been completely resolved." Terrance weighed the Water Gem in his hand, feeling overwhelming joy in his heart.
He began to envision the possibilities. Rain Dance had always been Castform's most powerful signature move. If this move could be honed, refined, and elevated to an extraordinary level—if it could fully become Castform's own, as natural and fluid as breathing—then Terrance could be certain that Castform would have a growth direction no less promising than that of Mega Altaria and Mismagius.
That was why Terrance believed Castform was incredibly lucky. Arcanine and Beautifly had never come across such a great opportunity.
"Castformmm~~~" Understanding Terrance's intentions, Castform's eyes sparkled.
Even though it didn't fully grasp how to become stronger, since Terrance was confident, Castform chose to believe in him unconditionally.
It might not understand the principles, but it knew—Terrance did!
"Vulpix~~" Little Vulpix, who had been sitting upright, flopped onto its stomach, watching the interaction between Castform and Terrance with a look of utter resignation.
"Next, it's your turn." Terrance picked up Little Vulpix.
"You think this has nothing to do with you?"
"The four moves' secret technique—I've just spent a month figuring out a training method suitable for Castform's Rain Dance."
"But that doesn't mean Hail and Sunny Day will become useless. Sooner or later, I'll fully research the other three moves as well and develop training methods suitable for you all."
Terrance looked at Ice Vulpix. If his understanding was correct, Ice Vulpix possessed either the Snow Cloak or Snow Warning Ability.
Since it was still very young, Ice Vulpix couldn't even control some of its signature moves yet, let alone make use of its Ability.
For Vulpix to awaken its Ability, it needed a deeper understanding of itself. Although its Ability was inherently a part of it, without proper training, it would never truly become something it could call its own.
Regardless of whether it was the Snow Cloak or Snow Warning Ability, if Vulpix could master the "Snowy Weather" move, which Terrance had derived from the Weather Institute's research findings as the most suitable for it, its enhancement would be more than just a little.
Whether on the Performance Stage or in Contest Battles, this move could very well become the defining core technique for its future as an Ice Ninetales.
"You've been through quite a few battles in the Fight Area these past few days..." Terrance said to Little Vulpix. "As a reward, I'll personally prepare some food for you."
"I'll go to the market to buy ingredients after training is over."
...
...
In the blink of an eye, nine days had passed since Terrance arrived at the Fight Area.
During these nine days, the four students gradually completed 100 battles.
With occasional guidance from Terrance, none of them ended up with a win rate below 50%.
In these 100 battles, each student faced opponents of similar strength. Maintaining a win rate above half, in Terrance's estimation, meant they had likely gained a wealth of valuable experience.
At their current stage, this experience would be incredibly beneficial for their future growth.
As for Terrance himself, these past few days in the Fight Area allowed him to focus on continuing the foundational training for Little Vulpix, and after obtaining the Water and Fire Gem, formulating a future plan for Castform.
Terrance didn't know how long it would take for Little Vulpix to awaken its Ability and master it, but he did know one thing—until Vulpix could wield its Ability as naturally as its own limbs, he absolutely could not let it evolve using an Ice Stone.
Only by doing this could he greatly unearth Vulpix's potential.
"Senior Terrance, aren't you going back to the academy?"
"I won't be returning."
Terrance looked at the four students, preparing to part ways.
Back at the academy, Teacher Teresa had already found the information he wanted.
Two days ago, Terrance had learned the material composition of the dream device. That was his primary reason for returning to Crown Academy, and now that his goal was achieved, there was no real need to go back.
Moreover, after spending so much time at the Fight Area, Terrance was planning to return to Hoenn.
