Plunder-Chapter 33 - Someone Wants Me to Harm Him
Chapter 33: Chapter 33 Someone Wants Me to Harm Him
Chapter 33 -33 Someone Wants Me to Harm Him
Mrs. Zhou stood there, her mind buzzing.
What did Zhou Jin’an mean by that?
Was he blaming her for meddling too much?
Mrs. Zhou felt a deep pain and was unwilling to accept it.
“I am your mother!”
She cried out, her voice breaking as tears she’d held back for years finally flowed.
She had been driven out of the Zhou family, separated from her husband and child, enduring years of hardship alone. Didn’t she deserve compensation from the Zhou family, and shouldn’t Zhou Jin’an make amends on their behalf?
Yet, Zhou Jin’an’s figure didn’t stop for a moment.
He walked away with determination.
That determination reminded Mrs. Zhou of the night she was abandoned.
When Zhou Zhendong had sent her away, his figure was just as resolute.
The resemblance was striking, and her heart sank with grief.
“Zhou Jin’an, to marry Qiao En—unless—”
Unless I die!
Otherwise, I’ll make her life a living hell.
After leaving the Zhou family’s compound, Zhou Jin’an felt very agitated.
Cheng Lu was waiting for him in the driver’s seat, and he got in, sitting in the back.
When his mind was heavy, he usually didn’t speak, merely smoking in silence.
He opened the cigarette case to find it empty.
Zhou Jin’an’s eyes darkened slightly, and seeing this in the rearview mirror, Cheng Lu handed over his half-pack of soft-pack Hongtashan cigarettes.
“Director Zhou, I have cigarettes, though they’re inferior.”
Zhou Jin’an had refined tastes, and the things he used were typically top of the line.
He wasn’t a heavy smoker, but he was particular about his cigarettes.
At that moment, however, he didn’t care about such things. He took the cigarettes from Cheng Lu, lit one, rolled down the window, and took a deep drag.
The taste of the smoke was rough, striking his throat harshly. Zhou Jin’an was not used to it and choked, coughing violently.
“Director Zhou, this cigarette is strong. Maybe you shouldn’t smoke it.”
Cheng Lu added.
Zhou Jin’an, holding onto the cigarette, continued to cough and draw on it.
Suddenly he asked, “Where is that woman?”
Cheng Lu was initially stunned but then realized who Zhou Jin’an meant and answered, “She works at a beauty salon. She should still be there now.”
“Bring her to see me.”
Zhou Jin’an’s voice was cold.
Cheng Lu promptly made a call to arrange things.
The car headed straight to Chu Garden. After Zhou Jin’an had showered and changed into a dark blue silk pajama set, the woman was brought in.
He came down from the second floor, moving with an unhurried elegance and a touch of laziness.
Leveraging his height of six foot one, he wore the pajamas as if he were modeling them on a runway.

His distinguished aura, along with his handsome face, made the woman’s eyes widen in awe.
“Sir, are you the one in need of beauty treatments?”
The woman standing before him was young, with a slim figure and curves in all the right places. Holding a small work case, she stood at the entrance, her greedy eyes fixed on him.
Zhou Jin’an didn’t respond. He walked over to the liquor cabinet and poured himself a glass of red wine.
His fingers, well-defined, clasped the wine glass, gently swirling the liquid against the sides.
The woman, growing impatient, spoke up again.
“Sir, would you like a full set of treatments, or just for one area? You take such good care of yourself, where do you usually go for beauty treatments?”
She tried hard to find a topic to break the silence.
Zhou Jin’an took a seat, crossing his long legs with ease.
He leaned back on the sofa, eyes playful, looking at the woman with a tantalizing glance.
“What’s your name?” he asked lightly.
“Zhang Xiaoxia, ‘Xia’ as in dawn, ‘Xiaoxia’ as in the light of the clouds,”
She answered earnestly, her voice a bit grating, causing Zhou Jin’an to frown.
“Do you have a boyfriend?”
Zhang Xiaoxia couldn’t grasp Zhou Jin’an’s intentions.
This man was handsome and wealthy, and he had asked for her services, offering a generous tip. The questions he posed were unrelated to her job but rather personal.
She was distracted and began to daydream.
This house, this car, this man…
“No… I haven’t… I haven’t been in love yet.”
Zhang Xiaoxia tried her best to proclaim her innocence.
But, sometimes when you try too hard, it just looks too fake.
She unconsciously put on airs in front of Zhou Jin’an, continuously fidgeting in an attempt to attract his attention.
But Zhou Jin’an’s deep gaze never looked at her differently.
She was hopeful, her heart pounding.
Suddenly, Zhou Jin’an looked up.
Their eyes met, his filled with a cold sharpness, like a knife plunging into her chest.
Zhang Xiaoxia was somewhat frightened.
Only then did she realize that this man, this car, this man, probably had nothing to do with her.
“Qiao De, do you know him?”
Out of the blue, Zhou Jin’an spoke.
Zhang Xiaoxia was stunned for a second and quickly denied it.
“I don’t know him.”
Zhou Jin’an said no more, his piercing gaze resting on her.
She felt guilty inside, scared out of her wits.
“Sir, if you’re not going to have a beauty treatment, then I’ll be leaving now.”
Carrying her beauty case, she said and was about to leave.
Cheng Lu reached out and stopped her, “Director Zhou is asking you. You’d better answer honestly, do you know Qiao De or not?”
Cheng Lu had a stern face, and he suddenly raised his voice, startling Zhang Xiaoxia.
“I… I don’t know him.”
She began to stammer.
“You don’t know him, so how could you be carrying his child? You don’t know him, so why would he take out a high-interest loan for you?”
Cheng Lu’s successive rhetorical questions made Zhang Xiaoxia go pale.
Now she regretted it deeply, trouble had come because of her greed.
“I didn’t, it’s not me.”
“It seems you won’t shed tears until you see the coffin.”
Cheng Lu said, and suddenly grabbed Zhang Xiaoxia’s throat.
The veins on his arms stood out, his strength gradually increasing. Zhang Xiaoxia was in pain, her hands desperately struggling to pry Cheng Lu’s grip off.
She refused to speak, the kind with a really tight lip.
Zhou Jin’an leisurely sipped his red wine while Zhang Xiaoxia cried, she was so frightened she even wet herself, yet she admitted nothing.
Cheng Lu didn’t hit women, but that didn’t mean he wouldn’t make exceptions.
“Will you speak willingly, or should I force you to?”
He gave her two options.
Zhang Xiaoxia was both in pain and terrified, but her head shook like a rattle.
“I don’t know, I really don’t know anything.”
Cheng Lu hated those who couldn’t appreciate kindness. He was running out of patience, smashed a glass with one hand, picked up a shard, and slashed at Zhang Xiaoxia’s face.
The force was not great, and the cut wasn’t deep.
Zhang Xiaoxia screamed as if she were a dying wolf.
Cheng Lu was unmoved. His dark eyes glinting with ruthlessness.
“Want another one?”
Each word that came from his mouth was tinged with coldness.
Zhang Xiaoxia still wanted to hide the truth, but when Cheng Lu picked up the shard and moved it across the other side of her face, she quickly got the message.
“I’ll talk, I’ll tell you everything.”
Cheng Lu loosened his grip.
Zhang Xiaoxia crouched on the floor, gasping for air.
“I know Qiao De, he was my boyfriend, but we only dated for a short time, and we broke up nearly a week ago. I didn’t intend to deceive him, someone approached me, gave me a lot of money—”
She said, reaching frantically into her neckline with one hand, and then pulled out a check from her bra.
“She was very generous, gave me a million, she said, as long as I told Qiao De that I was pregnant and made him sign for the high-interest loan, that’s all. I really didn’t expect things to turn out this way, I didn’t mean to hurt him.”
Cheng Lu’s eyebrows furrowed, and he passed the check to Zhou Jin’an.
He only needed one glance to understand.
