PERFECT REINCARNATION : Being Invincible in Another World-Chapter 71: Back to Royal Castle.
Stefan bowed, "... As you wish, your highness." And then left for the parking spot where the Carriage was waiting for him. After a while, Stefan came back. This time, holding the helms of the Carriage he had parked earlier. The Carriage they were using before at the tower was provided by them. The group then sat together softly and started their journey back to the Royal Castle.
The royal carriage rolled steadily out of Silvercurrent City, its polished wheels gliding over the wide stone road that stretched the path toward the capital. Lanterns along the city gates slowly could not be seen behind them as the carriage moved into the quieter countryside.
The evening had completely transitioned into night, and the sky above was clear, scattered with bright stars that reflected faintly in the distant river that ran beside the road for a time. Inside the carriage, the atmosphere was calm. Aurelion sat near the window, resting one arm against the frame as he watched the landscape pass by. From time to time he caught glimpses of distant farmhouses with dim lights still burning, or the silhouettes of windmills turning slowly in the night breeze.
Eventually, the distant silhouette of the royal castle rose above the horizon, its towers illuminated by rows of golden lights. Even from afar it dominated the landscape, a quiet reminder that the heart of the empire was drawing closer with every turn of the wheels.
The Group finally reached the Royal Castle, Stefan stopped the Carriage at the central drop zone of the pavement. They entered with hurried steps, some cause they were missing home while others were simply hungry. Aurelion rushed towards the dining table expecting Selene would be their. His expectations were not befallen, Selene had just sat at the table to have dinner. Aurex was standing and just about to sit when Aurelion entered the chambers.
OOF, I MADE IN TIME. I THOUGHT I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO REACH BEFORE DINNER.
"Mother, Father, I am back." Aurelion declared. Selene rushed and jumped towards Aurelion then hugged him. "... Little Moon, you are back." She said while choking him. "... Yes yes..., I was only gone for two days. Not much." Aurelion replied while choking.
The dining table that evening, the long table set with polished silverware and warm candlelight reflecting off the marble floor. Aurex sat at the head of the table with his usual composed posture, his presence alone was enough to fill the room. Selene sat beside him, leaning slightly toward Aurelion as she gently placed another portion of food onto his plate despite his quiet protests that he already had enough. "...You have barely eaten anything yet," she said softly. Aurex watched the whole scenario of them feeding each other with a calm but jealous expression, cutting his meal with measured movements before finally speaking. "...Your trip to meet your Uncle seemed eventful." Aurelion nodded once, answering with brief while Selene listened, occasionally asking small questions about the visit.
For a moment the vast hall was more on the quieter side. That was until Aurex decided to declare something new. "... I have given a long thought about your suggestion but I still do not believe that slum boy you rescued, is suitable to be your personal guard." He said. "... Also, just yesterday. An Aura Swordsmaster from a neighbouring kingdom who has friendly relations with us has submitted application to be your knight. We cannot just reject and reply saying that you have already chosen a slum boy as your Knight." He added.
"... Father, I thought we already had this conversation of us not replacing Rowan." Aurelion replied. "... I do not care about that, you need to atleast prove it to me that boy is worthy enough to be even a usual Knight, let alone a Royal one and your personal too." Aurex was stern on this decision.
IT LOOKS LIKE FATHER IS NOT GOING TO FALTER IN HIS DECISION. EITHER WAY, I NEEDED TO GIVE ROWAN SOME REAL EXPERIENCE AND THE READERS HAVE ALSO BEEN LATELY ASKING FOR SOME ACTION. Aurelion pondered.
"... I see, I will do a major achievement which the whole world cannot deny to convince you." He declared boastingly, then thought back to Rowan’s morning training.
Aurelion remembered watching Rowan during those early training sessions. The boy had thrown himself into the drills with relentless effort, sweat soaking through his shirt as he repeated each exercise again and again. When it came to running, lifting, or striking practice targets with bare strength, Rowan had looked almost unstoppable. His body responded quickly, his movements fast and powerful. But the moment a sword had been placed in his hands, that natural confidence had faltered. The blade had been held awkwardly in his grip, his swings either too wide or too stiff, lacking the smooth control the instructors kept demonstrating. More than once the wooden practice sword had slipped awkwardly through a motion he clearly intended to execute properly.
"... Wait, I mean. I will do this for the world. Just between us, I will go hunting with Rowan tomorrow at a nearby dungeon, it will be a new experience for me too." Aurelion said to Aurex after collecting his thoughts together. "Huh...You think some cheap prey will be enough to impress me? U must bring at least A D-ranked magical beast solely hunted by that boy to convince me." Aurex replied. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
"... A D rank might be too muc—" Aurex cut Aurelion in the middle of his sentence. "... It seems then we are on the same page on that boy being unworthy then."
Aurelion stood in his pride, "... Fine, if you doubt my judgement of people that much, then I must prove it to you tomorrow that only I am the person who can select my people." He replied with amplifying his tone.
"STOP IT, BOTH OF YOU." Selene shouted. Both Aurex and Aurelion turned with lightning speed thinking they were going to get scolded.
"The food is getting cold." She said.
