Peaceful Life System: I only need to live peacefully-Chapter 80: Peeking on Lila
Chapter 80: Peeking on Lila
"Master... Formation Master!" Thrain’s voice trembled. "Such insight... such intuitive understanding of the sacred geometry of power... I have not seen its like in all my long years! These are not mere doodles; this is the work of a true master!"
Riku flushed. "Elder Thrain, please! Get up! I... I truly didn’t do much. I just adjusted what felt a little off in your excellent designs. It was your foundation..."
But Thrain was already scrambling to his feet, his eyes blazing with a smith’s fervent passion. "Nonsense! This changes everything!"
"I am not sure what exactly your modifications achieve, Master Riku. But I feel that the effects of these changes won’t be small. Borin, the forges! I must try this immediately!"
He snatched up Riku’s parchment. "Half an hour! Give me half an hour. I will be right back." And with that, he practically bolted from the room, Borin hurrying after him, shaking his head in bemused wonder.
True to his word, slightly less than half an hour later, Thrain returned, his face smudged with soot but alight with triumph. He held out a newly forged copper talisman, its surface now gleaming with Riku’s modified engravings.
"Here, Master," he said, his voice filled with reverence.
Riku took the talisman. It felt different now, humming with a subtle, contained energy. He focused, channeling his ’Minor Healing’ spell.
A soft, gentle golden light flowed from his hand into the talisman. The light briefly enveloped the entire copper piece, then, instead of dissipating, it seemed to be drawn into the intricate engravings, settling within the lines of the formation.
However, after settling down into the engravings, the runes themselves began to glow with a steady, warm light, noticeably brighter and more vibrant than the initial spell he had cast. The talisman now pulsed with a gentle, moderate healing aura before fully stabilizing and returning to its original color.
Borin and Thrain gasped.
"The light... it grew stronger!" Borin exclaimed.
Riku looked at their astonished faces, a slight smile playing on his lips. "Why so surprised, Elders? Enchantments that enhance a spell’s power are nothing new, are they?"
Thrain shook his head, his ancient eyes still wide with disbelief. "Master Riku, you misunderstand. Yes, formations can amplify magic. We Dwarves have known such principles for ages."
"But our methods... they are like unleashing a storm! The magic is magnified, yes, but it is violent, turbulent, impossible to truly contain within the vessel after the initial surge. It is often used as something to make the spell stronger, the spell has to be cast immediately."
"To create an item that stores amplified magic, that holds a greater charge stably, that releases it in a controlled, sustained manner like this..." He gestured to the gently glowing talisman in Riku’s hand. "That is a different order of mastery entirely!"
He practically stumbled, his legs giving way, and would have fallen had Borin not caught him. "This... this isn’t just craftsmanship, Master! This is... this is genius that redefines the art! The world has never seen such a thing!" Thrain’s voice was filled with such awe that Riku felt a fresh wave of embarrassment.
"Elder Thrain, please, it was truly an intuitive adjustment," Riku said, helping the old Dwarf to a stool. "Your original designs were the key."
Slowly, Thrain calmed down. However, his eyes still shone with a fervent light.
Riku continued, "Now that we know this works, I’ll need more. Ten to start with, if possible. We need to test their efficacy on different individuals."
Borin and Thrain exchanged a look. "Ten, Master Riku?" Borin said. "The copper we used for these was from our last reserves of clean metal. We’ll need to procure more pure copper, perhaps some silver if we can find it, to better hold the enchantment. Give us three days. We will deliver."
"It is no problem," Riku nodded. "And for the materials..." He reached into his satchel and pulled out a small, heavy pouch, placing it on the table. It clinked with the sound of gold. "Here are fifty gold coins. It should be more than enough to procure the best metals you can find, and to compensate your smiths for their time."
The two elders stared at the gold, then at Riku, speechless for a moment. Fifty gold coins were a fortune in the Underbelly.
Borin finally found his voice, his tone cautious but hopeful. "Master Riku... with these talismans... could some be allocated for our own sick in the Underbelly? Even a few... it would mean so much."
Riku smiled warmly. "Of course, Elder Borin. That was always part of the plan. However, even I am unable to mass enchant talismans at this point. At this point, the people in the Underbelly are still in much better shape than many others who are coming to Luxia every day in the hopes of treatment."
"Rest assured, if there is anyone who falls seriously sick in the Underbelly, I will do my best to help them."
"Thank you, Master Riku. We will be back soon with the rest of the talismans."
------------
After Borin and Thrain had left, Riku held the newly made talisman in his hands. He wanted to test out the magic retention properties of the talisman.
System, is it ok if I put this talisman on Lila. This won’t heal her directly, but should provide a soothing and healing aura to make her better.
Ding!
[There should be no problems, host]
Riku slowly went to Lila’s side, clutching the talisman in his hands.
The best place to leave this talisman should be near her chest. Riku thought and removed the blanket without thinking much....
A sudden warmth, entirely unrelated to the talisman, rushed to Riku’s face. His mind went blank for a second. Then, a trickle.
Drip. Something warm dripped onto the back of his hand. He touched his nose.
Blood. He was having a nosebleed.
Before RIku could process what was going one, another voice rang out.
"Riku!! What are you doing.. You pervert."
Suddenly, Elara, entering the room, called out, immediately pushing Riku off the bed.
Riku himself got away hastily while covering up Lila again, his face red in shame.
"Elara, how did Lila change into.. change into that?"
Underneath, Lila was wearing nothing but a very loose gown without any underwear, so anyone could guess the scene that he saw.
"I changed her clothes earlier so that she could be more comfortable. Who knew that there was a pervert in this house who would try to peek underneath the blanket?"
"I... I.. It was not my fault.."
"Save it. I will let her judge it herself once she is up."
"Noo.. don’t tell her anything about this. Ahhhh!"
