Pampered by Short-Lived Bigshot-Chapter 993 - 590: Like a Breakup, and the Dumped Kind (Part 2)
"I’m very busy." Qi Zeyan gritted his teeth.
"Come by when you’re free, I’ll be leaving now." After Ruan Mengxi finished speaking, she gracefully left the office.
Qi Zeyan raised his hand and irritably tugged at his hair.
Just left like that?
Last time, she suddenly kissed him and then tossed him out along with his luggage.
How is this different from someone sneaking away after sleeping together?
As Qi Zeyan was stewing in annoyance, his phone vibrated; it was Jiang Chengsi calling. He answered with a "hello."
"Got plans tonight? Come out for drinks, Xiaowu will be there too. Let’s discuss the club matters."
"When and where?"
**
At the venue
When Jiang Jinsang arrived at the private room, Jiang Chengsi and Qi Zeyan were already there. No drinks had been served yet, and the two were leaning in, chatting.
"How come you’re free to come out tonight?" Qi Zeyan looked at him, though outwardly he seemed as normal as ever.
Being long-time friends, Jiang Jinsang could sharply sense his unease.
"Wanwan and I moved to the old house." Although there’s still some time before the due date, the old lady wasn’t comfortable with the two staying outside and kept urging them to move back.
With someone at home to take care, Jiang Jinsang naturally had time to step out.
Ordering some drinks, Jiang Jinsang only asked for a glass of lemon soda water, "What did you want to discuss by asking me out?"
"Mainly about the club," Jiang Chengsi said, glancing at Qi Zeyan, who was drinking, "Qiqi, I must say, the assistant you trained is quite different, very professional."
"I met her today, although she’s just starting, her attitude is good and she’s willing to learn."
"All the effort I put into poaching her wasn’t in vain."
Qi Zeyan shot him a sideways glance, "Didn’t you just snatch her?"
"Look at you with that pouty face, we’re all brothers here. What’s there to snatch or not snatch, it’s all about making money for you. What’s the difference where that happens?" Jiang Chengsi laughed heartily and deliberately leaned closer, placing his hand on Qi Zeyan’s shoulder.
But Qi Zeyan slapped it away.
"Brothers? At Ho’s wedding, could you let me off the hook?"
"..."
Jiang Jinsang sat at the side, just smiling at them, "Fourth brother, seriously, why did you call me out?"
"Well, it’s like this, you guys know usually clubs like these don’t make much money, and I was thinking..."
"Not profitable?" Qi Zeyan gripped his drink tightly and turned to look at him, "When you roped me in to invest, you didn’t put it that way."
"You said what, return in half a year, double in a year."
"Are you fooling me?"
"What does it mean, not making money? What are you up to, if it doesn’t make money, why am I investing in it? Do you think I have loads of money to waste?"
...
The person suddenly got very emotional, and not in the usual teasing tone; obviously, he was really upset.
This made Jiang Chengsi and Jiang Jinsang pause.
Investment inherently comes with risks; if you could guarantee investment in any industry would result in a sure profit, investors would be vying for opportunity until they were bloodied.
Qi Zeyan should be more aware of this than the two of them, so this sudden upset was quite unusual.
Qi Zeyan frowned, "Why are you both staring at me?"
Jiang Jinsang: "You’re acting strange."
Jiang Chengsi was more direct, "Qiqi, did you have a breakup or something? Like the kind where you got dumped."
"Shut up!" Qi Zeyan was furious, nearly kicking him.
"When we decided on the investment, I did tell you there are risks. Doing what you love and making money, why would I spend my time managing a bar then?" Jiang Chengsi frowned, "I’ve noticed you’re really strange recently; you’re not a woman, don’t tell me you also have those days every month..."
"Jiang Chengsi!" Qi Zeyan was tempted to splash his drink in his face but his peripheral vision suddenly caught Jiang Jinsang.
He was sipping his drink, wearing a white shirt and a black trench coat, an air of pride that didn’t fit the room’s atmosphere.
Most notably, he’d been staring at him.
As if trying to peer into the depths of his soul.
Only then did Qi Zeyan pause his hand.
Jiang Jinsang took a sip of water, looking toward Jiang Chengsi, "Fourth brother, so what’s your plan?"
"Actually, racing clubs are quite popular overseas, but every country has different circumstances, so I can’t just copy the outside model directly. Before officially opening, I want to have a trial run for a period, and if any issues arise, promptly correct and adjust them."
Jiang Chengsi was very earnest discussing this.
"You’re the expert, just follow what you say, I have no objections." Jiang Jinsang nodded in agreement, though he knew Jiang Chengsi well enough to crack a smile.
