Out of Control: Into Your Everything-Chapter 183: Putting on a Show
When Scarlett Shaw was forced into the car, her phone was thrown away by Liam Spencer’s men.
She only confirmed the time by looking at the clock in the room.
However, Liam Spencer had his own logic and said with unwavering conviction:
"Don’t try to fool me! You think I didn’t recognize you? You messed around with Ryan Ford and then tried to seduce Julian Ford. Julian is such a terrifying person; if he finds out you played with his brother too, you’ll end up worse than me! How could he possibly come to rescue you?!"
Scarlett Shaw: "..."
She was left speechless.
This Spencer family, with both Jasper Spencer and Liam Spencer, surely came from the same family. It’s not that they’re crazy, but their thinking is certainly unconventional.
At this moment, Scarlett felt a little hopeless.
The image of Liam going berserk after taking drugs last time was still vivid in her mind, and now they were in a private space. If he really wanted to do something, it could happen in an instant!
She glanced at Liam and saw that although he was angry, his eyes were clear.
Thinking that perhaps this guy hadn’t taken any drugs yet, he might still be able to listen to reason.
Scarlett considered her known information and decided to approach the topic from there, saying:
"Since you dared to kidnap me, are you unaware that your parents, in order to get you out of jail sooner, humbled themselves, wept, and pleaded with Julian’s father, offering many benefits before Ezra Ford relented?"
Scarlett had heard the first part from Julian, that Liam’s parents had indeed sought out Ezra Ford for this reason.
As for whether Ezra actually relented, that was something she made up.
Anyway, survival was the priority, and blaming Chairman Ford wasn’t something he could hear.
However, Mr. and Mrs. Spencer truly were Liam’s soft spot.
Although he wasn’t very capable and was a troublemaker, being the only child in the family, he was both scolded and cherished, never lacking parental love since childhood.
Seeing the emotion in Liam’s eyes, Scarlett continued:
"I’m telling you, if you’re just trying to vent your anger on me, I’m telling you, I’m scared to death right now, practically terrified out of my wits. Haven’t you achieved your goal yet?"
Liam glared at her, "Stop trying to sweet-talk me! You just want me to let you go!"
Scarlett admitted openly without any shyness, "Isn’t that obvious? Who wouldn’t want to escape when they’re tied up? If I didn’t want to escape, then you should be careful, maybe I’d end up turning the tables on you!"
Liam: "..."
Though he was upset inside, Liam couldn’t find any words to refute her for a moment.
He genuinely only wanted to teach Scarlett a lesson.
But if the costs of this lesson turned out to be even greater, wouldn’t it be like shooting himself in the foot?
Seeing Liam’s silence, Scarlett continued:
"Anyway, if you do anything excessive to me, I don’t want to live anymore. It’s just a matter of closing my eyes. By then, what you’ll face will be not only the disappointment of your parents and the arrest by the police but also my unjust soul!"
Liam choked up.
After a while, he forced out a sentence: "With your cleverness, would you really let your parents send you off in grief?"
Scarlett sniffed, tears rolling down, "Both my parents are gone, and in this world, I have no attachments. If you don’t believe me, you can investigate."
"..."
Liam scratched his head awkwardly.
He suddenly felt a deep sense of guilt for saying the wrong thing.
With Scarlett’s tears falling, they just wouldn’t stop.
She initially thought Liam still had a bit of conscience and tried to play the pity card to win his sympathy. But to cry convincingly, she inevitably had to think of sad things.
Thinking about it, she couldn’t help but dwell on the worry that had been weighing on her mind - Julian Ford’s illness.
The more Scarlett thought about it, the sadder she became, and her sobs only grew stronger.
If she really ended up like this, wouldn’t she miss the chance to say her final goodbyes to Julian Ford?
Of course, Scarlett would never dare let Julian know about this.
If he ever heard her talking about saying her final goodbyes, this petty man might think she was hoping for his demise.
As the conversation with Liam reached this point, Scarlett decided to gloss over the rest.
After all, even heroes can’t resist the charms of beauty.
Liam, being a soft-hearted coward, saw Scarlett looking pitiful and helpless, her eyes brimming with tears. Feeling sympathy and considering she’s a friend of his cousin Jasper, he wouldn’t cause any more trouble for his parents by letting her go.
So, he untied her.
"Just a few words and you talked for the whole day?"
Jasper Spencer listened intently, gnawing on a juicy braised chicken claw as he spoke.
"Are there any other parts? I still want to hear more."
Jasper was in the best mood now, with his cousin having a change of heart, no troubles arising, and no need to beg others for help or engage in unwanted tasks. How could he not be pleased?
Yana Yarrow remarked, "Do you think Scarlett is acting in a drama, should she give you a preview of the next episode too?"
"If there is, of course, I’d want to hear it."
Jasper picked out another chicken claw to gnaw on.
Yana snatched the chicken claw from him and gave him a glare.
Jasper initially wanted to grab it back, but considering what Liam had done to Scarlett, he thought better of it and refrained.
Yana then turned to Scarlett with curiosity, "Actually, I also want to hear more."
Mainly because Scarlett’s stories were so engaging.
They did feel like she was acting in a drama.
However, the person involved had a look of disinterest, merely observing Julian Ford’s expression quietly.
Her boyfriend, usually not one for showing emotions, just gave a faint smile at her words, peeling shrimp and picking vegetables for her, without much other reaction.
Scarlett cleared her throat and concluded, "When I woke up from being hit on the head, it was already afternoon. After he untied me, he asked me not to hold a grudge for this incident, and I took the opportunity to talk about the harms of drug abuse, promote positive energy, and urge him to turn over a new leaf. He listened seriously, and in a moment of enthusiasm, lost track of time."
Yana took this in, realizing that since the rest was akin to an educational segment, it was indeed less interesting, so she didn’t ask more.
Jasper and Yana had similar thoughts.
It was Ryan Ford who suddenly spoke up, seemingly recalling something, "Scarlett, after you came out, what did you say to that police officer?"
Scarlett kept her lips sealed, "It’s confidential, can’t disclose."
Seeing her earnest expression, Ryan didn’t press further, only turned to Julian, offering both a reprimand and reminder, "Brother, as a boyfriend, you really were negligent, letting Scarlett encounter something like this?"
"Thankfully, Liam was somewhat familiar and had a conscience, and Scarlett was clever, so nothing really happened. But if it were a purely malicious person and they injected drugs into Scarlett’s body, what would you have her do?"
Ryan’s words pulled Yana and Jasper out of the happy atmosphere, instilling fear.
Jasper, having had to toe the line around Julian recently, now stood tall since the misunderstanding was cleared, positioning himself confidently to remark:
"Julian, don’t tell me you’re dismissing Scarlett because of family reasons? How uncool of you; I’d even boasted before about how you protect your own!"
"Are you even in a position to say that to me?"
With a cold glance from Julian, Jasper quickly shed his bravado and fell silent.
He suddenly stood up and said to Scarlett, "Let’s go."
