Chapter 317: Chapter 305: Midnight

"Have Harrison ask the doctor later. If possible, let’s start heading back to Brimfield early, okay?" Simon Forrester’s face was ashen. "Let’s resolve that crazy woman’s issue first. I’m afraid that while we’re not in Brimfield, if this thing blows up, it won’t be easy to handle."

Sienna Thornton was lost in thought but snapped back and nodded, "Alright, I’ll go and speak with the primary doctor to understand the situation."

She checked the time, got up, and poured Simon some water. She thoughtfully put a straw in the water and handed it to Simon to sip from.

Perhaps because he had eaten this morning and had enough water, Simon’s complexion looked much better now, not as pale and ghastly as when he first woke up last night.

Sienna watched him drink water with gentle eyes, "I’ll go buy some fruits later; I’ll make juice for you this afternoon."

"Okay."

"Also," Sienna’s smile faded slightly, "leave Jane Jefferson’s issue to me. You don’t need to step in; I have a way."

"What way do you have?"

Sienna didn’t tell Simon that neither of them was suited to handle this matter. The most suitable person was Sylvia Langley.

Both she and Simon are refined people. Direct confrontation with someone like Jane Jefferson is not likely to succeed.

Someone like Jane Jefferson should be handled by someone equally challenging, combative, and strong-willed, like Sylvia Langley, who is also Simon’s biological mother and the perfect person to take this on.

Sienna could imagine how Sylvia Langley would react upon hearing this news. She might immediately buy a ticket and fly over from Franland to deal with Jane Jefferson.

Thinking of this, her eyebrows lifted, and though she was smiling, there was ice in her eyes and at the corner of her lips, cold and sharp.

She lowered her eyes to look at Simon, and their eyes met, creating mutual understanding.

"Borrow a knife to kill someone," she chuckled, putting away the water cup and straw before turning to the bathroom to clean them.

Simon Forrester stayed in the hospital for five days, had anti-inflammatory medication for three days, and underwent another MRI to confirm that, apart from a mild concussion, there were no other problems. The stitches on his back also were removed, allowing Harrison to arrange a car to head back to Brimfield.

Harrison prepared a nine-seater Mercedes Van, with space inside modified to fit a hospital bed so Simon, who was still unable to move, could lie flat, while Sienna sat in a nearby seat to care for him.

They started from The Northeast at 8 a.m. and arrived in Brimfield by 6 p.m.

The other shareholder from the design firm, Logan Lockwood, who also knew about Simon’s injury, was already waiting at the apartment courtyard. As soon as the vehicle arrived, he stepped forward and, with Harrison and the driver, together lifted the hospital bed to bring Simon to the apartment’s master bedroom.

Since the master bedroom bed had a latex mattress, Sienna immediately tidied up the sheets upon entering the apartment and had Harrison and Logan move the mattress aside. She wiped the bed frame several times, replaced the sheets, and helped transfer Simon to the hard bed. This task took over an hour.

Luckily, Harrison and Logan stayed behind to help, not only with purchasing meals but also feeding Simon, giving Sienna time to sort other things out.

After seeing Harrison and Logan off, Sienna wiped down Simon’s body, took a shower herself, and then washed and hung the dirty clothes they had from the hospital. By then, it was past ten o’clock.

Sienna felt so exhausted that she was all but falling apart, too lazy even to apply skincare products. She dried her hair and fell straight onto the bed.

Simon, unable to move his body, could only wrap an arm around her, kissing her forehead and temple tenderly, "You’ve worked hard these past days."

Sienna hugged his waist, burying her face in his neck, and sighed, "I finally realize how easy I had it before."

Before, if she cooked, Simon would take care of cleaning the kitchen and dishes; if she took a shower, Simon would handle their dirty laundry from the day and fold any dry clothes. So after work, she usually only needed to make dinner and take a shower herself; sometimes, if Simon came home early, she wouldn’t even need to cook.

Now that Simon is incapacitated, she realized that doing all the chores alone meant no downtime at all in the evening.

"Should we hire a helper?" Simon suggested.

Turning to embrace him, Sienna shook her head, "I can manage; it’s just today was busy since we got back from the hospital, and there’s a lot to organize."

"Alright, I’ll listen to you."

Simon, holding her, though unable to move, felt fully content, "We never seemed to find the time to go to Europe, but now that I’m unwell, staying home is a must."

Sienna released a comforting smile, "When you’re healthy, work seems most important. But when you’re sick, life feels most important. It’s good this way; it’s been a while since we’ve been together like this. Let’s take advantage of your rest to have some proper dates at home!"

For optimistic people, even being ill and homebound can be quite romantic.

Sienna and Simon belong to such a group.

During the day, Sienna busied herself with housework and preparing meals. When she wasn’t in the room, she would draw the curtains open, letting Simon bathe in sunlight while lying in bed.

Although Simon couldn’t move his body, his arms were still agile. Sienna bought a laptop stand to clamp to the bed, allowing him to use the computer to browse news and watch movies even while lying down.

After lunch, they would take a nap together. Upon waking, Sienna would prepare dinner. After eating, she would wipe Simon down and shower herself. By nine, they’d retreat to bed to watch a movie and chat, falling asleep sweetly in each other’s arms when they grew tired.

Two weeks passed comfortably like this. During the two weeks in Brimfield, Sienna took incredibly diligent care of Simon, leaving him not with the typical bedridden grime, but because he hadn’t been exposed to sunlight for three weeks, his skin turned a shade lighter, appearing even fresher than usual.

From the surgery date until now, almost three weeks had passed. Simon wore a plaster vest and began trying to get out of bed. His physical condition was good, and so was his stamina, so after two days of adjusting, he was able to care for himself.

Seeing that he was doing well, Sienna went back to work.

Absent for a month from The Forresters, although she had gotten leave from Nolan Kramer, there was still some discontent, with Nolan saying that a few important business negotiations were delayed due to her absence, angering Zane Forrester.

However, those negotiations were all attended by Aurora Buckley in Sienna’s place, and the processes went smoothly, so it was unclear why Zane was upset. Sienna figured Zane was probably targeting her because she previously advised Sylvia Langley on divorce matters.

Distracted by the unresolved issue with Jane Jefferson, Sienna couldn’t be bothered with Zane’s menopausal antics and ignored it, spending a few days at The Forresters before returning to the law firm.

Just when she was planning to find time to consult with Sylvia Langley about Jane Jefferson, Jane showed up unexpectedly, openly confronting her at the law firm.
