Our Love Story: Hard to Guard Against the Sudden Love Strike-Chapter 293 - 289: Wife
After lunch, Melinda Linton went to rest, Jenna Raines washed the dishes, and Sienna Thornton and Simon Forrester were chatting in the living room.
This little apartment only had two rooms, one for Melinda Linton and one for Jenna Raines, leaving no room for Sienna Thornton here, so ever since moving in with Simon Forrester, she hadn’t slept here again.
Logically, every girl should have a room of her own, just in case she has a fight with her boyfriend or husband and needs a place to stay.
Thinking of this, Sienna Thornton suddenly started wondering if there was a need to switch to a bigger apartment?
She and Simon Forrester didn’t really fight often, and even if they did, it was Simon who would leave. Last time, after Nina Sinclair stole a kiss from him, she laid down the rule that whenever they argued, Simon would have to be the one to leave, and he couldn’t go far, just outside the door to reflect. Kicking him out and detaining him for self-reflection at the same time—perfect.
Remembering this made Sienna Thornton chuckle to herself.
Resting his head on her lap and taking a nap, Simon Forrester twitched his ears sensitively and asked, "What are you giggling about?"
Sienna Thornton lowered her head, leaned close to his ear, and whispered, "I was planning on buying this apartment, but now I feel that two bedrooms aren’t enough, so I might as well go for a three-bedroom one. That way, I could stay over occasionally."
Forrester last November started paying her a monthly bonus of 1.5 million. She saved for seven months, almost tens of millions, with over six million used to pay back the loan on her B&B, leaving over three million. She originally planned to add this month’s bonus to reach five million and buy this apartment back.
But just now, she suddenly changed her mind and wanted a bigger place.
Simon Forrester, hearing this, initially wanted to say, "Why buy a big one? I could just build you a villa myself," but knowing she preferred being independent, he changed to, "If Aunt’s already accustomed to this area, you might as well look in the nearby neighborhoods. But they’ll all be second-hand properties since there are no new developments around here."
Sienna Thornton considered it briefly: "A mid-range renovated second-hand house would be nice, avoiding any pollution from new renovations, which isn’t good for health."
Simon Forrester nodded, eyes closed, and he raised a hand to catch her fingers playing with his hair, chuckling: "What’s your budget? I’ll find the place for you."
"Hmm..." Sienna Thornton fiddled with his fingers seriously, calculating, "A small three-bedroom should be at least 100 square meters? With the average price around here at ten thousand per meter, the down payment would be three million... No problem, I have just enough money now."
"Alright, when work resumes the day after tomorrow, I’ll have Harrison Rowe handle it."
"Mm-hmm, with your help, I feel secure." Saying this, Sienna Thornton cupped his face and leaned down for a kiss.
Simon Forrester was astonishingly efficient in everything he did, and anything he agreed to could be considered as already done.
The B&B loan was paid off, arrangements for her own house and Melinda Linton and her daughter’s future life were in place, and her law firm’s business seemed decent. Sienna Thornton felt her luck was gradually turning.
.
After dinner, Simon Forrester received a call from Sylvia Langley, saying she had picked up her brothers and was taking them to dinner, asking Simon to prepare tea at home and notify Zane Forrester to come over.
Simon Forrester asked casually, "How many people in total?"
Sylvia Langley laughed proudly on the line: "Four uncles, three cousins."
Simon Forrester: "..."
He quickly hurried Sienna Thornton home.
They went to the mall downstairs to buy an additional set of tea ware before heading upstairs, where Sienna Thornton tidied the place a bit, and Simon Forrester sterilized two sets of tea ware.
Sylvia Langley invited seven brothers, plus their family of three and Sienna Thornton, a total of eleven people, which worked out perfectly for the two sets of tea ware.
Bringing out the tea set, Simon Forrester found Sienna Thornton vacuuming the living room floor and quickly went over to roll up the white fur rug under the coffee table.
Sienna Thornton glanced over and asked, "Why are you moving the carpet?"
Simon Forrester: "With so many people coming over, that delicate rug will be ruined."
Sienna Thornton: "...Actually, I think if you’re putting it away, don’t bother bringing it out again. It’s a hassle to clean regularly, and putting it down doesn’t do much good."
Simon Forrester gave her a look that said, "You’re a simpleton, you wouldn’t understand," didn’t say a word, and quietly took his precious carpet to the guest room.
.
Preparations mostly done, Simon Forrester suddenly realized the house didn’t have enough guest slippers, so he dashed down to the mall to buy seven pairs of men’s slippers over size 43.
Having done all this, the doorbell rang precisely on cue.
Simon Forrester thought it was Sylvia Langley bringing everyone over, but upon opening the door, Zane Forrester was standing outside.
Due to the daytime events, Simon Forrester didn’t greet Zane Forrester warmly; he simply said, "Come in," and returned to his room.
Sienna Thornton, having washed her face, came out to see Zane Forrester changing his shoes at the entrance. She hurried over to greet him: "Mr. Forrester, you’re here, please come in."
One cold son on one side and an enthusiastic Sienna Thornton on the other, Zane Forrester couldn’t help but seriously assess the girl who always approached with a warm and generous attitude.
She was nice, and getting along with her was comfortable. As a subordinate or friend, she was actually quite good.
But as a daughter-in-law, she wasn’t quite suitable.
Not only clever and calm, she was bold and assertive.
While handling the Forrester Group’s challenging trade disputes, she managed to persuade Old Master Forrester to conduct a third-party due diligence on the Forrester Group, then ousted Bianca Fordham from the group. The process took less than half a year, and Zane Forrester recognized her not only as unmanageable but also cunning and unafraid of stirring up trouble.
If she became the daughter-in-law, the "Forrester" name risked turning into "Thornton." Thus, when Sylvia Langley intended to match Nina Sinclair with Simon Forrester, he didn’t object.
His view of a daughter-in-law was akin to Sylvia Langley’s. The prime role of a daughter-in-law was to bear children for the Forrester Family. Once that was achieved, she could pursue her career just like Sylvia Langley with her own fashion line, which was fine too.
Even if a bit headstrong, a simple-minded, clear-tempered daughter-in-law wasn’t bad; minor issues could be resolved with a bit of persuasion and understanding, leading to an overall harmonious life.
But having a daughter-in-law like Sienna Thornton, who was financially savvy, legally adept, and keenly aware of every penny, provided no sense of security at all. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
This was why Zane Forrester was always cautious with his son—because he no longer belonged to him, but clearly to Sienna Thornton.
He couldn’t allow an outsider to plunder the Forrester Family’s legacy.
Zane Forrester, deep in thought, was interrupted by a sudden, frantic ring at the door.
The urgency and zeal made it clear that it was Sylvia Langley’s brothers.
Zane Forrester raised a hand to wipe the cold sweat off his forehead.
