Chapter 277: Chapter 274: Noble Magnolia

Even though Sylvia Langley spoke with certainty, the not-so-naïve Nina Sinclair detected some uncertainty. She asked again, "Does Cyrus know you’re planning to help with our engagement?"

Sylvia’s smile faded slightly, not expecting the girl to be so meticulous. After pondering for a moment, she glossed over it, saying, "Of course he knows! Jules has always known he’s meant to marry you. I told him years ago."

Seeing the Sinclairs’ worried faces turn to delight, Sylvia held Nina’s hand and consoled, "Why do you think Old Master Forrester spoke with your grandfather? It’s because he sees you as the Forrester granddaughter-in-law, that’s why the old man made such a demand. Don’t you think?"

However, speaking of Old Master Forrester’s demands, the Sinclairs were stumped again.

Nina hesitantly asked, "But is Grandpa serious? If I don’t get a PhD from Harvard, will he stop liking me?"

"The old man is losing his mind, he won’t live long, don’t worry about it!" Sylvia’s tone was bitter, holding a grudge against Old Master Forrester over Cyrus’s matchmaking.

The Sinclairs let go of their worries.

Mrs. Sinclair went to the kitchen to check if lunch was ready, leaving Nina to entertain Sylvia in the living room.

During the conversation, Nina asked Sylvia what she meant by the lawyer being "unclean," and Sylvia didn’t hold back, speaking disdainfully, "Caught meeting an old man in private."

Nina, intending to smear Sienna Thornton in front of the Forrester Family, continued with a cold laugh, "Looks like Lawyer Thornton isn’t immune to older men. She was even confronted by her boss’s wife for having an affair with him earlier!"

"Her boss?" Sylvia widened her eyes and asked, "Steven Chapman? Thomas Reed?"

"I think it was Thomas Reed."

Sylvia was shocked, grabbing Nina’s hand, her emotions intense, "Where did you hear that? Do you have any evidence?"

Nina shook her head, "I heard it from Cyrus’s assistant, no evidence. They said Lawyer Thornton moved into Cyrus’s apartment after being beaten by her boss’s wife."

Sylvia was stunned, her mind conjuring an unmentionable ethical scandal.

A woman tangled with her cousin, then moves into her cousin’s house, and now this cousin would go to great lengths to protect her???

What’s all this?

Sylvia couldn’t fathom it or remain calm. She seemed on the brink of insanity, exclaiming, "Ha! I knew that lawyer wasn’t clean! Too dirty!"

Seated beside her, Nina observed Sylvia’s emotions, seizing the moment to add fuel to the fire: "Also, when Lawyer Thornton previously opened a B&B, she clearly had no money. Yet, she convinced Cyrus to invest millions in the project. After it went bankrupt and she couldn’t repay the bank loan, Cyrus was about to shell out another sixty million to buy it from her. Luckily, I found out and messaged that lawyer, stopping the deal."

Sylvia: "..."

She roughly calculated that Simon Forrester had spent over a hundred million on Sienna Thornton.

The thought of this inexplicable woman extracting over a hundred million from her son filled her with outrage! This woman was like a White Bone Spirit devouring her Tristan Thornton!

With full-bodied anger, she trembled, skipping lunch, grabbed her bag, and returned to the family home immediately.

-

At the family home, Old Master Forrester and Zane Forrester were having lunch. Seeing Sylvia return in tears, Old Master Forrester, already pained in the head, put down his bowl, claiming he was full, ready to retreat to his room, when Sylvia cried out, "Dad! I need to speak with you!"

Unable to escape, Old Master Forrester returned to the inner room to sit.

Zane followed.

Sylvia recounted the gossip she’d heard from Nina, tearfully. Zane looked serious, and Old Master Forrester’s brows knitted deeply, finally stating, "Still, evidence is needed."

Sylvia immediately took out her phone, "I’ll call Leo to have him tell you himself! But you have to promise me something, Dad!"

Old Master Forrester didn’t agree but didn’t refuse either.

Sylvia exclaimed, "If that lawyer has been involved with Leo, she absolutely cannot be with Jules! The Forrester Family cannot bear such disgrace!"

Seeing she wanted to set conditions, even with evidence, Old Master Forrester grew annoyed, impatiently saying, "I’ll speak with Leo first!" With that, he left.

Sylvia immediately called Thomas Reed, and when the call connected, she bluntly asked, "Leo, where are you?"

Thomas Reed replied, "I’m in Britione."

Sylvia: "Come back to the family home as soon as possible; your grandpa wants to ask you something."

Thomas Reed, "What is it about?"

Sylvia: "It’s inconvenient over the phone; you need to come back and speak in person!"

Thomas Reed: "Then I’ll call Grandpa."

Sylvia: "A call won’t work. You must come in person!"

Thomas Reed never liked this aunt. Out of respect for elders, he answered her questions. Seeing her act mysteriously and unreasonably, he simply left a comment, "We’ll talk when I return," and hung up.

Sylvia hung up in frustration and sat pondering, suddenly realizing, "I figured it out! This Lawyer Thornton is a spy sent by your sister’s family! Her goal is to tempt Jules, to capture the Forrester Family’s wealth, right?"

After saying that, she instinctively looked towards Zane Forrester, "Husband, don’t you agree?"

Zane appeared to have his own thoughts, brow furrowing for a moment before faintly stating, "If that’s the case, Nolan Kramer would have reported it to me."

"In my opinion, even Nolan isn’t reliable! He’s been with The Forresters for months and hasn’t caught any leverage against that lawyer!"

Meanwhile, Zane was relaxed, sitting in the hall, gazing at the beautifully blooming white magnolias in the courtyard.

Those magnolias, regarded as campus flowers by the Politics and Law University, were highbrow and elegant, seemingly possessing a resolute, unwavering courage—graceful and poised.

Sienna Thornton’s demeanor did resemble those white magnolias.

The Magnolia Gentleman?

Zane chuckled softly and said, "If no evidence has been found, it could also be they simply have no skeletons in their closet."

Watching her typically compliant husband defend Sienna again, Sylvia angrily swung her bag, huffing back to her room.

Zane didn’t follow her in this time but instead rose to admire the magnolias in the yard.

-

Azure Harbor.

Sienna Thornton and Simon Forrester spent a day shopping, carrying bags full of their haul back to the hotel.

Simon went to shower, and Sienna began packing their loot, preparing to send it back to Brimfield first thing in the morning.

This time she bought gifts not just for herself but for all her family and friends.

Given her familiarity with the likes of Melinda Linton and her daughter, and longtime companions like Rochelle and Maeve, Sienna thoughtfully picked out gifts suited to their tastes.

As for Aurora Buckley and Rhonda Wagner, since they didn’t cross paths much in personal life and their relationship was still mainly professional, she worried that overly nice gifts might be burdensome to them. Conversely, she feared token gifts would be disliked, wasting the effort.

Therefore, while picking shirts for Simon at a men’s wear store, she also grabbed a simple, well-tailored French white shirt for Rhonda.

Simon typically wore a size 46. Seeing her pick a size 44, he reminded her, "I wear a 46. The 44 you’re holding is too tight; it’ll expose my chest to other girls. Get a different one."
