Our Love Story: Hard to Guard Against the Sudden Love Strike-Chapter 243 - 240: The Collapse of Principles
Sienna Thornton worried about the current situation at the law firm.
She returned to her office and called Maeve, asking Maeve’s agent to help her contact the producer of "Lawyers Speak" to arrange an interview.
Maeve had news by that afternoon, saying she could interview this Saturday afternoon. The interview location was in the outskirts of Brimfield at a film studio, where the program team is likely based.
Sienna Thornton joked, "I feel relieved to interview at a film studio. If they asked me to go to a room in a star-rated hotel, that would be a bit odd."
On the other end of the phone, Maeve laughed, "The guests on this show are all people who can talk others into jail, who would dare pull any tricks on you lawyers!"
"True, I’ve never heard of a lawyer being coerced in such a way." At that moment, Sienna Thornton suddenly thought of Jane Jefferson.
She mentioned meeting Jane Jefferson during New Year’s at the Forrester Family, where she appeared as Thomas Reed’s girlfriend, and then gossiped, "Jane Jefferson has been missing for over two months; do you think she’s at home waiting to become Mrs. Reed?"
Maeve had only heard of Jane Jefferson, never seen her, but upon hearing she could take down Thomas Reed, Maeve thought she must be formidable and advised over the phone, "You should avoid associating with people like her, even if you become in-laws in the future."
"Simon Forrester said the same thing!" Sienna Thornton leaned back contentedly, letting herself sink into the big leather chair, "I think so too, knowing Mrs. Reed has a shady background and still getting involved with Thomas Reed, either Jane Jefferson is naive, or tougher than Mrs. Reed! She’s clearly not naive, so you’re right, Jane Jefferson is very daring, and might act impulsively!"
Seeing Sienna Thornton understood the situation, Maeve felt relieved and didn’t dwell much further on the topic of Jane Jefferson.
The two chatted a bit about the details of the program team interview, Maeve told Sienna to wait at home that day, and she would come with a nanny car, bringing her agent along too.
Sienna agreed, and later that evening, mentioned the matter to Simon Forrester.
Simon Forrester saw she was serious and calmly asked, "Why do you have to go on this show?"
Sienna Thornton answered bluntly, "First, to advertise the law firm; second, it might help with finding my biological father. Anyway, since there’s no clue now, it’s worth a try. Killing two birds with one stone sounds good."
These were urgent matters that needed addressing, Simon Forrester couldn’t stop her, so he had to agree, but insisted on joining her for the interview Saturday afternoon.
Sienna then mentioned Maeve and her agent were also going, and upon hearing Maeve was going, Simon felt it should be fine, so he didn’t say more.
He hadn’t liked Maeve before, not only because Maeve liked Sienna, but because Sienna relied on Maeve more than him at that time.
But after observing for a year, he realized Maeve didn’t cause trouble between him and Sienna, and at the school reunion in Sienna’s hometown, he learned Maeve and Zion Quincy had helped Sienna a lot back then, so his hostility towards them faded away.
-
Saturday afternoon, Sienna Thornton dressed and waited at home for Maeve to arrive.
Seeing her just with lipstick, dressed in jeans and a hoodie with a ponytail, Simon Forrester laughed, "Going to a program interview, why not dress up a bit?"
Sienna Thornton crouched by the shoe cabinet searching for sneakers, replying casually, "This way, it emphasizes my substance and professionalism."
Simon Forrester pondered secretly: The program team might reject her for the image issue.
But that clearly wouldn’t happen, Sienna was striking even in the simplest outfits.
He recalled when they first met, she had stayed here for over a month due to a fracture. Back then, she was always without makeup, with a comical bunny-eared headband, her facial features unadorned, seeming dull from afar, yet Simon Forrester still remembered how his heart raced because of her.
If he hadn’t seen her properly dressed before, he’d have thought she didn’t know how to dress up and was wasting her stunning face. But knowing how striking she looked dressed, he realized she either had immense confidence in her looks or never thought about using beauty to attain goals, exchange for resources.
Come to think of it, she didn’t want to use her youthful beauty to gain resources, so she worked hard at her studies and job.
He admired this about her, and gradually fell deeply in love.
...
"Afterward, I plan to treat Maeve and her agent to dinner, want to join?" Sienna asked suddenly, sitting on the shoe stool putting on her sneakers.
Simon Forrester returned from his thoughts, "Okay, once you decide on the place, send me the restaurant name, I’ll come over from home."
"Alright!" Sienna finished putting on shoes, stood up and patted her hands just as a message came in, she glanced at it, "Maeve’s downstairs, I’ll head out."
Simon Forrester got up to see her off, holding her hand and kissing her brow, instinctively saying, "If the interview doesn’t feel good, just leave, I’ll find another way to get you on the show."
Sienna laughed, "Are you planning to pay for sponsorship to get me on? You were so against me going on that show earlier!"
Simon Forrester remembered how he tried to stop her before, but now having agreed, he couldn’t bear to see her wronged or unfairly treated.
He realized he was becoming increasingly unprincipled with Sienna, felt a bit helpless, yet he didn’t plan to change, patting her arm, joked, "The benefit of being a sponsorship daddy is — getting the program to censor your face!"
"Why censor my face?"
"Looks so ugly, it’d pollute the nation’s eyes if uncensored!"
"Ugly?" Sienna pointed at her face, suddenly lifted a leg and kicked his butt twice, scolding fiercely, "Calling me ugly! Calling me ugly!"
Finishing, she ran out the door.
Simon Forrester, amused and annoyed, changed into outdoor slippers, shut the door, and followed her into the elevator.
Sienna glanced at him, arms crossed, chin slightly raised watching the changing elevator floor numbers, coldly scoffed, "Why follow someone so ugly they need a censor?"
"Afraid you’ll scare the passersby." He said, pulling her into his arms, and kissed her.
Her mind was all over the place, yet she still protested, "You still want someone so ugly, talk about indiscriminate appetite..."
The man laughed indulgently, "As long as I’m full, I have no other thoughts. Being ugly’s fine, just keep me full."
