Chapter 244: Chapter 241: Interview

Simon Forrester followed Sienna Thornton out of the elevator, the two of them one behind the other walking through the atrium, heading directly outside.

Sienna Thornton pointed at a white business van parked at the entrance and said, "Maeve’s nanny van is over there. I’m leaving, no need for you to see me off, just go home."

Simon Forrester glanced ahead and sneered, "An Alphard, Maeve is doing quite well now, huh! Have you paid off the loan for the land you mortgaged?"

Hearing the acidic tone in his voice, Sienna Thornton rolled her eyes at him and whispered, "Mind your own business. Go back quickly."

After saying that, she instantly changed her expression, lifting a smile and waving towards Maeve, who was looking over from the lowered car window.

The car door automatically slid open, and Sienna Thornton got into the car. Seeing Simon Forrester still following, she mouthed to him—Go back!

Simon Forrester ignored her, walked straight to the car, hands in his pockets, bent slightly, and with a clear gaze looked at Maeve inside the car, expressionless as he said, "The Great Lester, please take good care of my wife today, if anything happens, give me a call."

Maeve, wearing sunglasses, smirked slightly, raised her chin as if to agree.

The nanny van drove out of the apartment complex, the agent sitting in the passenger seat turned around, smiling and greeted Sienna Thornton, "Lawyer Thornton, long time no see!"

"Has it been about a year since we last met?" Sienna Thornton mused, "Time really flies!"

The last time she saw Maeve’s agent was when the guesthouse was opening, the agent went over to help out, and since then, she had been busy dealing with the guesthouse issues and falling in love, hardly having any chance to meet Maeve, let alone her agent.

On the way, the agent talked about Maeve’s meteoric rise in the showbiz over the past year, finally saying, "It’s all fate. Who would have thought the guesthouse didn’t work out, but Maeve’s career thrived instead."

In fact, both Sienna Thornton and Maeve knew that the reason Maeve’s career boomed after the guesthouse was shut down was because she had to earn money to pay off loans at the time, and she accepted all the legitimate shows she could get. As a result, she accumulated explosive popularity.

Sienna Thornton was no different. Because of the guesthouse case, she was investigated by the bar association, reluctantly joining The Forresters. After making her first pot of gold there, she opened her own law firm, which, although not yet profitable, was certainly better than her previous stint at Vantage.

So, life has no perpetual lows or despair. Once you get through it, a better world awaits you.

Seeing both Sienna Thornton and Maeve silent, the agent awkwardly smiled and then asked Sienna Thornton, "Lawyer Thornton, was that gentleman who saw you off your boyfriend?"

Sienna Thornton snapped back to reality and replied with a "hmm."

The agent exclaimed, "So attractive in casual wear and sneakers, it’s a shame he’s not in showbiz. Lawyer Thornton, you should ask your boyfriend if he’s interested in joining the industry, I could..."

At this moment, Maeve, who had been resting with her eyes closed, said lightly, "That man is the owner of The Imperial Court Club."

"The Imperial Court under The Forresters?"

Maeve nodded.

The agent refrained from her earlier comments about Simon Forrester and intended to ask Sienna Thornton why she was appearing on a show when she had such a financially secure boyfriend, but swallowed the words back down.

With her years of experience in the entertainment industry, she was well aware of the mindset of old noble families like the Forrester Family.

Why would they marry someone with no background like Sienna Thornton? No wonder she feels she has to seize the day, appearing on TV shows to try and make a name for herself. Otherwise, if the Forrester heir ever dumps her, she’ll be too old to break into show business by then.

-

On early Saturday afternoon, the roads were not crowded, and the nanny van smoothly arrived at the film city, heading directly to the recording base of the program team.

Sienna Thornton got out of the car and, led by the agent, entered the backstage area of the "Lawyer’s Debate" show with Maeve in tow.

The audition was managed by the director team, who were currently recording the program and couldn’t meet Sienna Thornton immediately, so the agent had them wait for a while backstage.

Just behind a backdrop, it’s the program’s live set outside. The recording lawyers were sparring intensely and quoting various legal clauses in their arguments.

Bored of waiting, Sienna Thornton listened attentively for a while—

The plaintiff (male) and the defendant (female) met through an introduction. Over nearly a year of dating with marriage as the premise, the plaintiff gave the defendant luxurious gifts worth hundreds of thousands, yet the defendant broke up when the plaintiff proposed, refusing to return the expensive gifts. The plaintiff filed a lawsuit asking the court to order the defendant to return the gifts given during their relationship.

The defendant’s lawyer argued that this was a voluntary gift in a normal romantic relationship, and since the gift action was completed, demanding the defendant return them lacks legal grounds.

On the other hand, the plaintiff’s lawyer claimed that as the relationship was pursued with marriage as a premise, the plaintiff gave these lavish gifts considering the defendant as his future wife, so the gifts should be considered as ’engagement gifts’. Since the defendant chose to end the relationship, she should return them.

The two lawyers were tenaciously arguing about the nature of these gifts and whether they should be returned or not, leading to an intense standoff that temporarily halted the recording to ease their tempers.

With the mid-session break, the director team finally had some time.

Sienna Thornton was chatting with Maeve when suddenly they heard the agent deferentially call out "Brother Wallace" and quickly stood up to approach a middle-aged man with a big beard.

The two exchanged a few words over there, and the agent gestured towards Sienna Thornton as Brother Wallace walked over, his eyes behind small round glasses scrutinizing her before asking, "Lawyer Thornton?"

Sienna Thornton stood up, nodded at him, and politely said, "Hello, I am Sienna Thornton."

"Hello, hello, I’m Director Wallace, you can just call me Brother Wallace!"

"Hello, Director Wallace!" Sienna Thornton formally greeted again.

Director Wallace pointed towards a small room nearby and invited, "Let’s talk inside." Saying that, he walked ahead, digging in his pocket for something.

The agent signaled Sienna Thornton and Maeve to follow.

Director Wallace took out a bunch of keys, tried them one by one, and opened the door.

Once inside, with the door shut, the outside commotion instantly ceased.

Director Wallace found a couple of round stools under a simple meeting table and tossed them out, sat down, and chuckled, "The studio conditions are quite basic, hope you can understand!"

Sienna Thornton quickly responded, "I understand, I understand." Saying this, she handed over her prepared personal file.

The file template was sourced by Maeve’s agent from the producers of "Lawyer’s Debate", essentially having all the information the director wanted to see filled out by Sienna Thornton.

Director Wallace perused the file for a good while, pushed up his small round glasses on the bridge of his nose, and asked, "Lawyer Thornton’s background is quite the talking point! A PhD from a prestigious U.S. university who came from a disadvantaged county! Impressive, impressive!"

Saying this, he continued to glance through the file, commenting as he read, "Our program has a broad audience, with a significant portion being in the 30-50 age range. What’s characteristic of this group? They’re married and have families! Naturally, they’re especially concerned about their children’s education! Lawyer Thornton’s background and experience can easily attract a fanbase on the show!"

Having said this, he closed the file and, looking at Sienna Thornton, already seeming impressed, straightforwardly asked, "Would you be willing to cooperate with the show to create a CP and persona?"

Sienna Thornton didn’t understand, looking at Maeve and the agent, puzzled, "CP? Content Provider?"

The agent quickly glanced at Director Wallace, seeing he didn’t intend to explain, awkwardly said, "CP means pair or match-up, in the entertainment world, it’s like TV couples or screen pairings."
