Chapter 234: Chapter 231: Supplemental Agreement

Sienna Thornton returned to the law firm, made a copy of the agreement, and left the original with the official seal in the office.

She spent the whole afternoon pondering and studying who drafted the agreement, going through several densely packed pages, and only managed to highlight a few key points and contradictions after her eyes were exhausted.

When she got home, she put the marked-up copy of the agreement on the desk in the study, and went back to cooking.

Halfway through making dinner, Simon Forrester came back, slipped into the kitchen, wrapped his arms around her waist, and asked, "I heard the Forrester Group’s legal work has been outsourced to your firm?"

The first thing he mentioned upon coming home was this, actually planning to ask her to celebrate in the evening, but before he could suggest celebrating, she replied indifferently, "Nolan Kramer gave us an addendum agreement to review first. Once we agree, we can sign it. I left it on the desk in the study. Go take a look and help me go over it."

Noticing something off in her tone, Simon Forrester murmured, "What’s so serious about this agreement?" With that, he kissed her on the cheek and left the kitchen, presumably to check out the agreement she mentioned.

By the time he looked over it, Sienna Thornton had finished cooking and went to the study to call him for dinner, but he was still engrossed in the agreement.

Sienna Thornton leaned against the study door, wearing a Peppa Pig apron with her arms crossed, and said flatly, "Do you want to eat first before continuing?"

Simon Forrester glanced up at her, brought the agreement out with him.

Sienna Thornton quietly ate her meal, without initiating conversation, and after quite some time, Simon Forrester, who was reading the agreement while eating, suddenly vented with annoyance, "What kind of writing is this?"

Sienna Thornton raised her brows, one corner of her mouth curling up sardonically, "Finished reading?"

"Yes."

"What do you think?"

"It aligns well with corporate business strategies. I think this agreement must have been drafted by Nolan Kramer."

Sienna Thornton looked up at him, "If he dared to present it, dared to have it stamped by finance, it at least means your dad approved it."

Simon Forrester nodded, musing, "But Grandpa probably isn’t aware. Such a convoluted matter isn’t his style."

Implying that such a convoluted matter might have been prompted by Zane Forrester, who doesn’t seem like the petty type, Sienna guesses Mrs. Forrester might have contributed several suggestions in this.

Sienna Thornton felt uneasy.

This matter made sense but had nowhere to talk about, if she took this agreement to complain to Old Master Forrester, first, it would affect Zane and Simon’s relationship; second, it would provide Mrs. Forrester with an opportunity to belittle her in front of other Forrester family members.

Though Sienna Thornton wasn’t afraid of being belittled, it was still annoying.

Thinking about it, she found Mrs. Forrester to be quite the troublemaker.

The more Sienna thought about it, the angrier she got, and she looked at Simon with growing contempt, kicking his foot and asking, "So what do I do now? Sign it?"

Catching the tone, Simon Forrester pondered, "How about I make a call to my dad later and ask him to have Nolan change the agreement’s content?"

Sienna Thornton gave him a sidelong glance, "Don’t you have any idea what excuses your dad and Nolan will come up with to fob you off?"

This statement added to Simon Forrester’s originally agitated mood, making it more gloomy, and he resolutely said, "Tomorrow I’ll go straight to Grandpa and tell him I’m ready to take over as the Forrester Group’s chairman, have him transfer me all the shares, and I’ll make the decision for you!"

"Don’t throw yourself into a pit," Sienna said more softly, "Running a company is exhausting. While your grandpa is still in good health, you should enjoy these years more."

Hearing this, Simon Forrester brightened up and tangled his foot with hers under the table, saying ingratiatingly, "See, in this world, only the two of us are on the same page. I look out for you, and you look out for me. So we should unite against outside forces and not cause internal conflicts, right?"

It turned out he felt her unspoken disdain earlier.

Such a perceptive guy.

Sienna Thornton took a sip of her soup and said seriously, "So, what should I do now? Sign it, and it feels like bowing down. Don’t sign it, and Cognitas doesn’t know when their next business will come. Then I wouldn’t be able to face Rhonda and the others."

Simon Forrester chuckled, "You expressed your discontent in two words earlier, but used over twenty words to describe your apologies to Cognitas and its partners. You should have some sense of whether or not to sign."

Sienna Thornton fell silent, casting him a resentful look, and accepted her fate.

She remembered Simon Forrester’s bold claim earlier, that once her firm was up and running, he’d merge the Forrester Group’s legal work with it, making her firm stronger! But now, she had to half leave her own firm to take a position at Forrester Group! 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

Sienna felt that while men could sound sweet talking and heroic in making promises, they were as constipated when it came to fulfilling them.

He’d want to get it over with straightforwardly, but his intestines and sphincter weren’t cooperating.

Later in the evening, Maeve called, saying she had gotten in touch with the producer of "Lawyer Talk." The producer wanted Sienna Thornton to schedule an interview, and if everything went well, they’d arrange to film.

Sienna repeatedly thanked her, though remained a bit insecure, "I’ve followed that show every episode, and they don’t seem to want highly professional lawyers, rather aim for better entertainment value, right?"

"Of course," Maeve said, "This so-called content program actually aims to create stars and attract attention, naturally seeking the best show effects. But it’s not that all entertainment shows need comedy; you could try the angle of an ’inspiring beauty lawyer.’"

This suggestion aligned with Sienna’s intention for going on the show, and she mused, "Aside from advertising the firm, I mostly want to see if the show’s exposure can help me find my dad."

Understanding her ongoing search for her biological father, Maeve naturally expressed concern.

Sienna briefly relayed the progress she and Simon made in their search, mentioning, "If he’s alive, he’d be about 55 by now. Not being sure about his health is concerning, especially considering major illnesses are prevalent now. I dread the idea that when I find him, he might already be gone..."

On the other end, Maeve reassured, "It won’t be like that." However, realistically, she couldn’t offer more solace like Simon Forrester could, whose sweet words often left Sienna defenseless.

After a moment, Maeve asked, "Are you sure Simon hasn’t found him? With his capabilities, finding a person shouldn’t be difficult, especially after searching this long. Maybe you should have another serious talk with him?"

Sienna thought for a moment and firmly replied, "He wouldn’t lie to me! Why would he deceive me? I’ve cried to him so many times over this; if he’s still lying, well, just see how I’ll handle him!"

Coincidentally, Simon Forrester had just emerged from his shower and overheard the last bit—if he’s still lying, well, just see how I’ll handle him!

His heart skipped a beat, and subconsciously, his hand brushed over his abs. Recalling a family council from months ago, his abdominal muscles twitched again.
