Oops Alpha, Wrong Luna-Chapter 18
Chapter 18: Chapter 18 ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
Aria’s POV.
I stood frozen, my heart pounding so hard I thought it would burst. Seraphina’s words echoed in my head, sharp and mean.
"Kael is mine," she’d said, her green eyes glinting with a nasty grin, like she was daring me to fight back.
My stomach twisted, a mix of shock and anger burning in my chest. She stepped closer, her boots clicking on the wooden floor of the Fang Pack’s guest room, her blonde hair catching the morning light.
"Don’t you think you should act like everyone else and leave?" she snarled, her voice low, dripping with venom.
I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. My hands clenched, my nails biting into my palms. "What?" I said, my voice shaking.
"You’re claiming your own brother?" The words felt wrong, heavy, like they didn’t belong in my mouth. Seraphina laughed, a loud, cruel sound that made my skin crawl.
She tossed her head, her grin widening, her eyes cold.
"He’s not my real brother, Celeste," she said, spitting my fake name like it was a joke.
"He’s my foster brother. I can have him if I want to." Her words hit like a slap, disgust curling in my gut.
She wanted Kael? Her foster brother? The idea made my head spin, my chest tight with a feeling I couldn’t name—anger, fear, something else.
"You’re sick," I said, my voice sharp, my hands shaking.
"You need to leave. Now." I turned to the door, my silver gown swishing around my legs, and reached for the handle, ready to shove her out.
I couldn’t stand her being here, in this room, in this pack, threatening everything I was fighting for.
My plan to make Kael love me, to secure my place as his Luna even when he learned I was Aria, not Celeste—it all felt like it was slipping away.
But before I could open the door, Seraphina’s hand shot out, grabbing my wrist. Her grip was tight, her nails digging into my skin, and I gasped, pain shooting up my arm.
"Let go!" I snapped, yanking my hand, but she held on, her eyes gleaming with something dark, something mean.
"I’m just getting started, dear Luna," she said, her voice low, vile. "I’m not done talking to you."
"I’m done!" I shouted, my voice breaking as I pulled harder, my heart racing. With a final tug, I ripped my hand free, stumbling back, my legs shaky.
Seraphina staggered but didn’t fall, her grin never fading, like she’d won some game I didn’t understand.
I stepped back, my breath heavy, my wrist stinging where her nails had been.
The door swung open, and my heart jumped. Alpha Kael stood there, his tall frame filling the doorway, his black shirt and pants making him look like a storm ready to break.
His onyx eyes flicked from me to Seraphina, narrowing, sharp and dangerous. Before I could say anything, Seraphina’s face changed.
Her grin vanished, and she threw herself to the floor, hitting the wood hard. She started crying, loud and fake, her hands clutching her bag.
"I’m sorry, Celeste!" she wailed, her voice high, pleading. "I won’t talk to Kael again, I swear!"
I froze, my mouth open, shock hitting me like a cold wave. She was acting—pretending I’d pushed her, trying to make Kael think I was the bad one.
I’d read about tricks like this in books, scheming characters playing the victim, but seeing it in real life made my stomach churn.
My eyes darted to Kael, my heart sinking. He’d believe her, wouldn’t he? She was his foster sister, family, while I was just... me, hiding behind a lie, pretending to be Celeste.
I turned, my shoulders slumping, ready to walk back to the bed, my chest heavy with sadness.
"Are you okay?" Kael’s voice boomed, deep and strong, cutting through the air. I stopped, my breath catching.
Seraphina started to answer, her voice shaky, but Kael ignored her. His eyes were on me, only me, and he stepped forward, his boots heavy on the floor.
"Luna," he said, his voice softer now, his hand reaching for mine. "Are you okay?"
I blinked, my heart racing, shock mixing with a warm, fluttery feeling.
He was asking me? Not Seraphina? His fingers closed around my hand, warm and steady, and his eyes searched mine, fierce but gentle.
I stuttered, my words stuck. "I... I’m..." I couldn’t finish, my throat tight, my mind spinning. Was he defending me?
"Did she hurt you?" he asked, his voice low, his eyes narrowing as he glanced at Seraphina, still on the floor, her tears fake and loud.
I swallowed hard, shaking my head, my voice gone. I couldn’t believe it—he was choosing me, not her.
Seraphina stood, brushing off her dress, her face twisting with anger. She grabbed Kael’s other hand, her voice sharp.
"Kael, you should be worried about me! Not your Luna!" she said, her eyes flashing, her grip tight on him.
Kael yanked his hand free, his jaw tight, his eyes cold. "Just like you said," he growled, turning to face her fully. "My Luna."
His voice was hard, like stone, and Seraphina flinched, her smirk gone. "I warned you not to cause trouble, Seraphina. But you did. This is it—you’re leaving. Now."
Seraphina’s eyes widened, her mouth opening to beg. "Kael, please!" she said, her voice breaking, real tears now.
"I just want to stay by your side. I won’t do anything, I swear!" She reached for him, but he stepped back, his face unyielding.
"Not when my Luna isn’t safe with you around," he said, his voice final. He turned to the door, calling out, "Brian!" Beta Brian appeared, his brown eyes serious, his posture stiff.
Kael pointed at Seraphina. "Take her out of the pack. She leaves now." Seraphina shot me a glare, her eyes burning with hate, but Brian took her arm, firm but gentle, and led her out.
The door shut behind them, the sound heavy, final.
I stood there, my heart pounding, my wrist still stinging from her grip. Kael turned to me, his hands gentle on my shoulders, his eyes searching mine.
"Are you okay, Luna?" he asked again, his voice soft, worried. My chest tightened, a warm feeling spreading through me. He cared.
He was protecting me, choosing me over his foster sister. My heart raced, not just from fear, but from something new, something scary.
Was I starting to fall for him? No, I told myself, shaking my head. He was a tool, a way to get back at Celeste and Mother, to prove I was more than the Omega they despised.
But the way his hands held me, the way his eyes saw me—it felt real.
He led me to the bed, his touch gentle, and sat me down, the mattress soft under me. "Stay here," he said, his voice calm but firm.
He turned to get water from the table, his back to me, and Kyra stirred, her growl sharp in my mind. "Tell him!" she urged, her voice urgent.
"Tell him we need to leave the Fang Pack! It’s not safe, Aria!" Her warning from earlier hit me again, the danger she sensed, the heavy feeling in the air.
I took a deep breath, my hands shaking. "Alpha Kael... I mean, Kael," I said, my voice small but steady.
He turned, a cup of water in his hand, his eyes locking on mine. "Kyra... my wolf... she says something’s wrong here. She feels danger. She thinks we should leave."
He stepped closer, his face serious but calm, and handed me the cup. "Everything’s going to be fine," he said, his voice strong, like he could make it true just by saying it.
"Who would dare harm the Alpha of the Shadow Claw Pack? They’d be asking for trouble." His lips curved into a small smile, but his eyes were fierce, protective.
I took the cup, my fingers brushing his, my heart still racing. I wanted to believe him, but Kyra’s growl lingered, and the uncertainty in my chest wouldn’t fade.
