OMG!!! My Crippled Husband is a Hot, Powerful CEO-Chapter 93 – Can you lose them?
Chapter 93: Chapter 93 – Can you lose them?
Alex once again settled into the bedroom downstairs, after Joanna and Violet headed upstairs.
He was exhausted as a result of not taking his short naps in the office due to Joanna’s attempted kidnapping but just as he closed his eyes to sleep, his phone beeped.
He was reluctant but since it was his personal phone, that meant it could be a potential emergency.
Picking up the phone hesitantly and looking at the screen reluctantly, he saw a text message from Aiden. ’Alex, the Munchinos are following you and are close to your house.’
Alex’s drowsiness vanished instantly as he read the message. He quickly replied, ’Where are you?’
Aiden had assigned someone to protect Alex, so upon hearing about the pursuit, he had already left his house without informing Alex immediately.
The Munchinos were a notorious gang known for terrorizing families in Chicago. Years ago, they had stolen from the Kings’ warehouse and vanished without a trace.
Now, they were targeting Alex directly in an attempt to reach the Kings, since they were so far the richest in Chicago City.
As the leader, Alex was their primary target. However, Aiden was determined to prevent these criminals from reaching Alex’s house.
’I’m almost at your house,’ Aiden texted a response.
Alex felt a surge of anger that the criminals were bringing the conflict to his doorstep, putting his wife and dependents at risk.
If it were just him, he wouldn’t even step out of the house but anyone could be used as bait against him if those criminals succeeded in coming in.
Even with bodyguards around, Alex did not want Joanna to have a clue about this kind of thing or connect him to it.
He considered arranging for backup, but with Aiden present, Alex felt it unnecessary, even for Ike.
Both Alex and Aiden understood the reason for the unexpected opposition. The Munchinos were still bitter because Salvador’s men had managed to retrieve everything from them during the Munchinos’ attack without capturing the culprits, leading to resentment.
It was evident that trouble was looming. Alex and Aiden were driving towards the signal shown in the tracking software to confront them, but they were clueless about the fact that the Munchinos gang had quadrupled in size since they were last seen.
There were about three different cars with a lot of gang members.
Before he could say, Jack, bullets were raining down from the skies, resulting in a crossfire.
Neither Alex nor Aiden could get out of the car, but Alex targeted two things as Aiden clung to the steering wheel to prevent a skid.
"Can you lose them?" he asked as he wound down the window and fired multiple shots. It pierced through the front tire of the car facing them before the second one pierced the driver in the chest.
The car veered off the road, crashing into the third one, who was trying to overtake the second but the second one made a clean escape before another set of bullets began flying through the air.
Aiden was not in sync with Alex’s desire to avoid confrontation. "Aren’t we going to fight them?"
Alex considered his options. Aiden was unaware that they were both injured, but Alex remained calm.
With the return of the Munchinos, he decided to have Salvator’s men deal with them. The collision between the cars left everyone unconscious.
Alex aimed and shot the driver of the third car in the head, protecting Aiden who was at the wheel.
The car spun out of control and crashed into a tree just as they heard police sirens approaching.
"No, let the police handle it for now," Alex said. The sound of gunshots had alerted the police, but Alex’s quick decision allowed them to make a clean getaway.
As they headed home, they both realized the extent of their injuries.
Aiden’s wound was more severe than Alex’s because Alex had been shielding him the entire time to prevent him from stopping driving.
Upon reaching the mansion, they assisted each other to the upstairs room where Alex kept his first aid supplies.
"I think we should call a doctor," Aiden suggested after Alex removed the bullet from his shoulder.
It was then Aiden’s turn to remove the bullets from Alex, but he discovered there were two, one in Alex’s back and another on the extreme left side of his chest.
"If you can’t do it, then let me call Betty," Alex sarcastically remarked, implying that Aiden was weak for considering a doctor.
However, Aiden was only concerned about the risk of infection.
"I can do it, but you’ve lost a lot of blood, and what if it’s infected?" Aiden expressed his worry.
Alex dismissed his concerns, saying, "I feel fine and don’t need blood. I highly doubt there’s an infection."
He was relieved that the marriage was just a contract. Otherwise, how would he explain his scars to Joanna? Judging by the situation, he wouldn’t need to provide any explanation because she wouldn’t see them.
After removing the bullets, Alex called Betty on the phone. "There are blood drops on the floor. Make sure no one sees anything."
That was a way of telling her to do it herself to avoid gossip from the maids. However, they heard the door to Joanna’s room open, so Alex pretended to be asleep.
Aiden, who hadn’t met Joanna face to face and didn’t want to raise suspicion, hid in the closet.
It felt like a dream, but Joanna, despite her hesitation, decided to break another rule and knocked on Alex’s door.
There was no response, and when she turned around, she only saw Betty.
"Sir must be asleep," Betty said with a smile, but Joanna sensed something was amiss.
She remembered seeing fresh blood earlier, but upon closer inspection, everything had been cleaned.
Was she dreaming? Was Betty so quick at cleaning? "I... I saw blood stains," she pondered.
Betty appeared slightly nervous but quickly composed herself.
"Then you must have seen it incorrectly," she countered.
Unfortunately, Joanna didn’t believe her and forcefully opened Alex’s door, only to freeze at the entrance in shock.
