No Substitutes for the Bigshots' Dream Girl Anymore!-Chapter 1922 Hayes Edwards Extra (79)
Seeing him about to leave, the boy from earlier chased up to him again, "There’s still evening study later, where are you going?"
Today is Friday, and evening study goes on as usual.
Because there is only an hour break after school in the afternoon, most of the day students choose to eat at the school cafeteria, saving the time it takes to travel back and forth.
Hayes Edwards held onto the handlebars of his bike, stretching out one long leg to support himself on the ground, his voice lazily hoarse with the strain of puberty, "Something came up, I took a leave."
Before the boy could ask what was going on, he was already riding his bike swiftly out of the school gate.
At that speed, in the blink of an eye, he was out of sight.
The boy shrugged helplessly while holding the basketball.
With this kind of personality, how come so many people still like him?
When Hayes Edwards got home, the sky was already completely dark, the street lights illuminated the ground in a dim yellow.
Today is Grace Winter’s birthday.
Just as Hayes Edwards got upstairs, he ran into Grace Winter, who was coming out of her house.
She was wearing a dress, her hair down, her features looking delicate and her brows and eyes beautifully defined. She was momentarily startled on seeing him, then she pressed her lips together and smiled, dimples appearing on both cheeks.
Still quite the obedient look, but for some reason, she seemed a bit different from before.
He couldn’t quite put his finger on what had changed.
It just made him feel a little unfamiliar, a bit restrained.
Until that familiar call of "Hayes Edwards" brought him back, like it was just like before.
"Hmm." He responded.
Grace Winter smiled and reached out to him, "Hayes Edwards, where’s my gift?"
She seemed to have gained a bit of girlish charm.
No longer just that silly and dazed little girl from back then.
Hayes Edwards was momentarily stunned; he’d come home too quickly and had forgotten all about the gift.
Just as he was about to explain, Grace Winter withdrew her hand with a smile, "Forget it, I figured you’d forget, I’ll forgive you this time, let’s go inside first."
She opened the door, everyone was already waiting inside.
Hayes Edwards followed her in, looking at the girl who only reached his chin, suddenly remembering something.
He’d never given her any gifts before.
Next time.
He told himself.
Next time, remember.
When Hayes Edwards was in his sophomore year, the basketball team organized a cheer squad, naturally choosing all girls.
On the occasions the basketball team had matches and gatherings, the cheer squad would join in too. Among the girls, the most striking one was their captain, tall and slender, with delicate and pretty features; with light makeup, she appeared even more exquisite and beautiful.
Several boys on the basketball team had a crush on her, but she already had someone in her heart.
"Hayes, would you like some water?"
Among the group of seated boys, she focused her gaze solely on Hayes Edwards.
He was wearing simple sportswear, resting his head on his hand, his excessively refined features and pale skin always gave off a youthful aura, like the young warriors portrayed in operas.
Full of youthful vigor, bold and vibrant, always exceptionally captivating.
Everyone had more or less picked up on the ambiguous atmosphere, except Hayes Edwards, one of the key players in this drama, remained oblivious, "Also, could you help us get a few drinks? I’ll transfer the money to you later."
The expression on the girl’s face stiffened a bit.
Perhaps realizing it wasn’t right to make a girl carry so many drinks, Hayes Edwards stood up, "Forget it, I’ll get them myself."
With that, he left.
Not a hint of the previous ambiguous atmosphere.
