Chapter 1687: Chapter 1687 Arnold Simmons Extra (53)

The message was not yet finished when Hannah’s came through.

"It’s Sunday today, and the monthly exam results will be out tomorrow, Monday."

Arnold Simmons could only delete the text he was typing, "I know."

Hannah, with a pen in hand, drew circles on the draft paper and after a moment of thought, she asked him again, "Arnold Simmons, do you think you’ll still be last this time?"

Arnold Simmons replied quickly, "I’m always at the bottom."

He had long been accustomed to it.

"But this time it’s different."

"What’s different?"

Hannah said, "After this result is out, next time you and I won’t be able to be in the same exam room."

Arnold Simmons’ pen-holding hand paused, the night wind outside the window was bone-chilling, the autumn came late, cold and dreary.

He couldn’t quite pinpoint the feeling in his heart, like a chill blowing through, a suffocating pain.

His fingertips moved on the screen, about to click send, when another message came.

"It’s a pity not being able to see you sleep."

Arnold Simmons: "..." Turned out he was just overthinking it.

Thinking about it, he found it amusing.

He began to compose a message again, "Is it just because of that?"

Hannah puzzled, "What else?"

There was a pause on the other end before another message came back, "Nothing, going to sleep." 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

"Okay, bye."

He hesitated for a moment but still deleted the words "Good night" and just replied with a "Hmm".

...

When Monday came and after finishing the morning exercises at school, the rankings of the exam results for each class were already out.

Some ran back to their classes to check, while others crowded around the public notice board on the first floor. In just a moment, it was packed with people.

Class 2’s exercise spot was right next to the notice board. The music had just ended when Tessa Thompson dragged Hannah over; they were now squeezed right in the middle of the crowd.

Hannah found it hard to stand still, while Tessa Thompson, on the other hand, was excitedly standing on tiptoes to look.

Most names from Class 2 were at the top of the list.

Tessa Thompson had sharp eyes; looking from front to back, the first name she spotted was Hannah’s. Turning to her with excitement, she yelled, "Hannah, you’re amazing, making it into the top ten in your first monthly exam at this school. Let’s see what others have to say about you now."

The surrounding noise was boisterous, and people were still pushing forward; Hannah could only carefully hold on to Tessa Thompson, "Top ten?"

Tessa Thompson nodded vigorously, "Yeah, eighth place, too bad we can’t see the scores for each subject. No problem, we’ll check back in class later."

The crowd was pushing and shoving; it was obvious that everyone was very concerned about this month’s exam results.

After all, it might affect whether they could participate successfully in the school sports meet.

Tessa Thompson pulled Hannah out of the crowd, patted her chest, and breathed a sigh of relief, "Thank goodness I made it into the top hundred this time; otherwise, I’d have to listen to nagging at home again. While it’s not a big improvement, at least there’s no regression. Seems like my allowance for the week is secure."

The two walked back arm in arm.

The class was also bustling, with a crowd at the front door- inside people were looking at their grades, while outside people were asking those inside to check for them.

"Damn, awesome, out of the top ten in the entire grade, six are from our class."

"The transfer student is quite fierce, nearly scored full marks in the science comprehensive, I wonder how the detailed scores look."

"The class president is number one again, that study machine, simply emotionless."

"The study committee member didn’t make it into the top hundred? Looks like we need to do more homework usually."

"Arnold Simmons actually didn’t score zero this time? Shocking! But how did he get twelve points?"
