Chapter 556: Interrogating Kairo

"She’s asleep." Alhai whispered, closing the door behind him.

"She is? Thank goodness." Heiren said and let out a sigh of relief, his palm pressed against his chest to dramatize how relieved he felt.

"Is it good to leave Quizen beside her?" Alhai inquired, taking a seat on Coco’s usual seat at the dining table. "He’s a deep sleeper, sure, but he moves around in his sleep."

"He’ll be fine." Zaque assured the third husband. "Anyway, I had this wine saved for a long time now. I think tonight is the appropriate time to drink this."

"Excuse me.. May I know why I’m here?" The purple eyed mediator asked, sitting still on his chair. "The four of you have been acting weird all night, and it’s starting to concern me."

Kairo felt like the weight of his worry got lifted off his shoulders, making him sigh.

He wasn’t the type to hold back what he wanted to say, but he was also the type to not confront the people who had done nothing, but offer help to him.

In short, he’s a pushover.

Still, it felt so good to get that off his chest after being pushed around all night and possibly made Coco uncomfortable because he couldn’t say no to the mediators— and because a part of him wanted to be close to Coco.

He knows that he’s wrong, but he’s not actively reaching out to Coco so he should be fine, right?

"Weird?" Heiren echoed, smiling softly as he placed the wine glasses on the table— which made Kairo raise an eyebrow because he’s certain that there were no wine glasses in the house.

When did they have wine glasses anyway?

It was no secret that Coco doesn’t like alcoholic beverages, having avoided them like the plague when they went out to celebrate and all, so it was shocking to see her husbands eager to drink wine.

"I prefer the word generous." The brown haired mediator corrected Kairo’s choice of words gently.

"Generous?" Kairo repeated, eyebrows creasing together. "I don’t think that’s the right word.. I made Coco uncomfortable with what the four of you wanted me to do."

"Were you uncomfortable to be on her lap?" Zaque countered back, tilting his head.

Kairo immediately shut his mouth.

"It’s okay, Kai." Alhai mumbled and placed a hand on the mediator’s shoulder. "Everyone can tell that you like Coco like how we like her.. Probably even more than like, but I don’t want to assume."

Kairo’s face loses its color upon hearing Alhai’s words, his eyes widening in surprise.

"Seriously, it’s fine." Zaque stated as he sighed. "We were aware how you felt towards Coco that’s why we wanted to see how far you’ll go."

"Yeah, we thought that you would say no when we said that you should go into her lap, but we didn’t expect you to not turn it down." Alhai hummed, his hand on Kairo’s shoulder squeezing the muscle tightly. "It’s fine though, we were just testing the waters."

Kairo let out a startled yelp when Alhai squeezed his shoulder. "I’m sorry. I don’t want to come between the four of you and Coco—"

"Come between us?" Heiren spoke up, cutting Kairo off. "Is that what you’re so worried about, Kairo?"

Zaque shook his head and chuckled, the sound coming from deep within his chest. "My friend, you will never come between us if you become one of us."

"What are you—" Kairo asked, wanting to clarify what Zaque meant by what he said, but he was cut off again.

"Speaking of which.." Alhai mumbled, leaning down to grab Kairo’s jaw and turn the purple eyed mediator’s face towards him. "Coco may not speak about it, but she’s quite weak for a handsome face."

"I think he got the looks." Heiren stated, grabbing the wine bottle from Zaque’s hand.

"I agree." The red haired mediator nodded his head, holding the wine bottle tightly and turned to Heiren. "I’ll open it. Stay here with Alhai and Kairo."

Alhai perked up and let go of Kairo’s face, raising an eyebrow at Zaque. "What? Are you scared that I might scratch Kairo’s face? Don’t worry. I know Coco prefers to see my face in the morning than any of your faces." 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

Heiren scoffed and crossed his arms. "The audacity."

"I’m not lying." Alhai retorted and crossed his arms as well. "Unlike Zaque’s body and yours, Coco prefers my face rather than my body."

"Doesn’t mean that you won’t hurt Kairo just because Coco likes your face." Zaque stated bluntly, his grip on the wine bottle becoming so tight that a vein is starting to show on the back of his hand.

Alhai raised an eyebrow again. "I’m not Quizen, you know?"

The mediator’s response made the other two freeze in their spots and stare blankly at Alhai, their noses scrunching up when they realized that Alhai was absolutely right.

"I hate to admit it, but he’s right." Heiren said with a groan, running a hand down his face.

"I’m always right." Alhai rebutted, a smirk emerging in his face which only further made Heiren cover his face, ashamed that he walked straight into that one.

"Can I go now?" Kairo spoke up, causing the three mediators to turn to him.

"No." Zaque answered, turning in his heels and walked out of the kitchen, shutting the door quietly behind him before making his way down the basement.

"You heard him." Heiren hummed and smiled at Kairo. "The first husband’s order is a must."

"But.. It’s not like I’m one of you." Kairo mumbled, his gaze shifting down to the floor. "Coco doesn’t want me, so why bother with all of this?"

"Leave it to us." Alhai stated and placed a hand on Kairo’s head.

"By the end of the month, we’ll have her convinced to marry you." Heiren hummed, backing Alhai’s words up with an assurance of his own.

"But why?" Kairo asked, his voice quiet. "You barely know me."
