Chapter 552: Hugs, kisses, and comfort

"What’s happening here?" Zaque asked the moment he entered Coco’s room and saw Alhai sprawled on the floor with his face pressed on the carpet.

"He said he felt comfortable laying there." Coco answered the red haired mediator’s question, placing the mug down on the table.

Ten minutes had passed since Alhai had those thoughts about Coco so to get rid of them, he decided to turn away from her after getting her what she needed by laying on the cold, hard floor.

It somehow worked, but the raging thoughts about her didn’t fully stop.

"Really?" Quizen inquired this time, peaking his head over Zaque’s shoulder. "Anyway! Can I hug you now, wife?"

Coco froze and shifted her attention to the mediator, her eyebrows creasing together as she thought about it— well, not really thinking about it, but it wouldn’t hurt to give him the suspense of waiting, right?

"Sure." Coco agreed after a good five seconds, making Quizen brighten up and run to the bed. "Don’t jump on me, please."

Quizen immediately ceased his running and slowed it into a brisk walk, his face bright and beautiful with a large smile, obviously excited to wrap his arms around her.

Once he was close to the bed, Coco opened her arms and that was enough for Quizen to consider as an invitation.

The fourth husband got onto his knees by the end of the bed and crawled the rest of the way to Coco, his arms finding purchase around her waist the moment he plopped down himself between her legs.

The feeling of her arms around him gave him a sense of relief, the reality that she was really there, right in front of him, and breathing while caressing his head made his eyes well up with tears.

After Coco heard his confession, she ran out of the kitchen and proceeded to go out of the house.

He thought that he was rejected and wanted to court her the old way, but when she didn’t go home on her usual time, he assumed that he was at fault.

However, with her embracing him like this, it only means that she treasure him at least, right?

"I’m so sorry." Quizen apologized, his voice dripping with remorse and coming out a little muffled due to his face buried into her stomach.

"Hm?" Coco hummed, her eyebrows raising to her hairline. "Can you repeat what you just said?"

Quizen pulled his face away from her stomach and scrambled to sit upright before her, his hands firmly planted on her sides as he stared at her beautiful emerald eyes that sparked like gems. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

"I’m sorry." Quizen mumbled, the corner of his lips curling downwards into a frown.

"Why are you apologizing?" Coco asked, raising her hands and placing them on his pale cheeks. "Did you do something wrong? Did you hurt anyone?"

Coco’s voice was soft, so gentle that it made Quizen’s heart clench painfully.

How could someone be so beautiful and mesmerizing? How could someone be so nice, addictive, and be this lusciously attractive by merely sitting before him?

"I.. I don’t know." Quizen murmured, his cheeks heating up with shame when he felt Coco’s intense gaze on his face. "Didn’t I hurt you..? Isn’t that why you ran away yesterday morning? I said something wrong.."

Just like that, with her eyes and attention focused on Quizen’s beautiful face, the thoughts about her mother and the painful beating of her stopped.

"Hurt me?" Coco repeated, tilting her head. "When did you hurt me? You never hurt me."

"What?" Quizen couldn’t help, but blurt out.

"Look.. I ran out this morning because I wasn’t expecting you to like me." Coco explained the reason why she ran away with a sigh escaping her lips. "It was a bitch move on my part. I’m sorry."

"Bitch?" A voice echoed by Coco’s left.

Coco glanced into that direction and saw Alhai’s head peaking out of the bed side, his eyes holding a puzzled look.

Coco’s face immediately became warm with a pink hue, her eyes widening in horror.

"No! Don’t say that, okay? That’s a bad word." Coco struggled to keep her voice steady, but the way the sentence came out of her mouth was a clear indication that she was flustered.

"Wait, what’s a bitch?" Quizen asked, setting aside the topic about his feelings for now.

"No!" Coco exclaimed, grabbing Quizen’s cheeks and shaking her head fervently. "Don’t say that, okay? That’s bad!"

Quizen’s eyebrows furrowed as his lips puckered at how tight Coco was squeezing his cheeks, her eyes wide in disbelief.

"But why?" Quizen pushed, though his words came out a little incoherent.

Coco frowned and let go of his cheeks, her hands sliding down to the collar of his shirt and pulled him abruptly close to her face.

Quizen gasped in shock at what she did, but it was quickly swallowed when Coco pressed her lips against his to silence him, to make him stop asking why, and it was a success.

The mediator’s eyes went wide and before he could deepen the kiss, Coco pulled away.

The kiss was fleeting, but it was enough to make Quizen’s mind go haywire with needs and desire to feel her lips on his again.

"About your confession this morning, do you really mean it? Do you really like me?" Coco asked, trying to shift the topic back on its right track before they got distracted with the certain word.

Coco’s question went to Quizen’s temporary deaf ears, his lips parted in shock, cheeks warm, and eyes hazy with desire.

"Quizen?" Coco called, her eyebrows creasing in worry.

The mediator before her looked out of his right mind and seemed like he had inhaled drugs that made his mind fly elsewhere.

Coco felt nervous. Should she apologize for kissing him without asking him— actually, she will.

"I’m sorry." Coco mumbled. "I’m really sorry. I didn’t mean to kiss you— well, I totally did, but I should have asked you first."
