Myriad Devils-Chapter 263: His displeasure
Though Anon, before the union of souls, knew little to nothing of the Venerable Saintess, she naturally knew more than just a little about him.
The second phase of the union of souls was slightly different than the first. In truth, the union of souls was an act that allowed the pair to share a greater consciousness.
Through this greater consciousness, not only their own secrets, but their inherent nature, and their outlook on the world overlapped as well.
How he or she perceived things underwent slight alterations, and this was more than just beneficial.
After all, whilst one was a creature that had transcended worlds with a second-world cultivation, and had devoured a fragment of the deathly concept in Limbo, the other was an existence that could not be easily understood by many across the cosmic space.
The point of view of one who was vastly knowledgeable would naturally be unique.
Though she also benefited from this, inevitably, she was an existence that could confront Overlords, so comparatively speaking, it was less beneficial for her.
The largest beneficiary, on the other hand, was naturally Anon. Many things that previously confused him thereafter faded away.
During this period, it was not that his comprehension had improved, allowing him to enlighten his principles faster; however, this greater consciousness was of a fundamentally higher level than his own, earlier consciousness...
After all, he was only a unique creature with an abstract soul that had nurtured a Level Three Willpower, whereas this consciousness was built not only from his own, but the consciousness of the Omniscient Saintess.
She was not merely one who had sacrificed her soul to the World Tree, but she was the most brilliant of the Venerated Elven Lineage.
Her soul had not just become part of the World Tree, but had actually merged with it...
Essentially, the Venerable Saintess had become the physical representation of the World Tree.
She was, on the most fundamental level, the World Tree.
When Anon embraced her, he was also embracing the World Tree. He shared a consciousness with such an existence.
With such a high level of consciousness, and in this current state, the principles making up the world appeared much less complex.
It was not merely the principles that appeared much simpler.
The Rank One Divine Battle Art was something that he had yet to master.
This had nothing to do with the complexity of the Divine Battle Art, Wings of Cosmic Tearing, but rather with his own Wings of Light.
This pair of wings naturally originated from his celestial origin, so they contained innumerable mysteries...
These were mysteries that Anon had not begun to perceive, even in the slightest. This naturally meant that he was bound to never master the Divine Battle Art.
Why was that?
The Divine Battle Art, Wings of Cosmic Tearing, was a visualization technique that his dream form meditated on. It was, in truth, manifestations of cosmic mysteries that took on the shape of wings.
By deciphering them and thereby replicating their structure with his own wings, his wings of light would then be capable of resonating with these mysteries as well.
However, to begin replicating their fundamental structure, there was also a need to have some understanding of the internal structure of his own wings.
His previous state of consciousness was not high enough to begin sensing the unique mysteries intertwined with his wings of light, much less to begin deciphering them.
However, now that he was in a state of higher consciousness, there was an opportunity.
This was what it meant by being the largest beneficiary.
This process of expounding on the Dao, and this process of embracing the Omniscient Saintess, one could even call it meditating on the World Tree.
Under the shade of the World Tree, interacting with the World Tree, this process of companionship and exchanging insights truly opened his eyes to a greater world.
Even about his own self.
.....
When the duo began exchanging insights into the world’s secrets, unbeknownst to them, time had become but an illusion.
When the union of souls finally came to an end, it had already been three years since Anon had appeared in the Elven Territory.
The confrontation between the Fourth Ghost Autarch and the Omniscient Saintess had spread across the table of the strongest existences throughout the cosmic space.
With her assistance, Anon had almost halved the initial five years that were needed for him to enlighten twenty percent of his principles of Fate, Destiny, Inevitability, and Fire.
Undying fire manifested around him, transforming into a fiery robe that wrapped around his frame.
It was decorated with the severed heads and headless, snaky corpses of golden dragons.
His still naked wife knelt under the shade of the World Tree.
Gently tracing her fingers in the air, simultaneously, she began mouthing something towards the gargantuan tree.
Observing her devastating beauty, instead of appreciation or even lust, his brows were knitted, and he had a frowning expression.
One might even believe that he was seething with rage directed toward her. But there was no rage, and he was only deep in thought, frustrated and slightly agitated.
The Omniscient Saintess, previously appearing to be communicating with the World Tree, suddenly smiled with meaning.
"As I said, Omniscience is subjective," she said, "I can deduce the answer to almost all things, but I do not have a paradisical soul, so I am unable to directly perceive your thoughts. Or do you wish for me to deduce them?"
It was clear that she was referring to his dark expressions.
One would expect Anon to be in an incredible mood after having benefitted so much from the union of souls, and yet he was clearly quite displeased with something.
She was knowing of many things, and if she so desired, she could naturally figure out why he was clearly annoyed; however, their relationship had changed since the union of souls.
Upon sharing a greater consciousness, there was no one in this world, outside of the Human Lord, who had a deeper understanding of him.
And she had an inkling as to what he liked and what he disliked.
So she knew that he was not pleased with the paradisical gazes that attempted to peer into his soul, and she knew that he would not be pleased if she began deducing his thoughts either.
Between a husband and a wife, there should always be a mutual level of respect for their companion’s wishes.
