My Wife is a Dead Villainess, and I'm Her Living Weapon-Chapter 22: Know
Chapter 22: Know
"Ms. Potts. We just want to..."
A fist slammed into the table.
Only a single light cut through the darkness, spotlighting the woman below. She had deep bags under her eyes and a temper on the verge of erupting.
"For the last time you stupid waste of space. I already reported everything I saw, exactly as I saw it. I did my duty, and now wish to return home. If you know what's good for you, let me go."
Violet lightning began to dance around the woman's entire body. Despite being tired, mentally spent and starving, these agents were trying to squeeze even more information from her. One of them even looked at her figure lecherously.
While she had to swallow her pride and prostrate herself to the two she met a week ago, these people were less than dog crap. Although she retired from the breakers, not just everyone could enter their ranks. And the ones here were severely underestimating her.
"Your stupid play here? It's pointless. I am old enough to be your mother and happily married. I just might electrocute everyone here if you keep me here a second longer. Do you know how it feels to have 100,000 volts course through you? It's a terrible way to go."
"..."
The two agents seated across from her gulped nervously as they saw small streaks of lightning manifest in the air. Inch by inch they arced closer to them. Even the hair on the men's bodies all stood up, magnetized by the powerful electric charges.
"Please calm down..." "We only wish to..."
A loud bang shook the room. The only door in the room burst open. A towering presence entered. He almost didn't fit through the door. A man so huge he could have passed for a giant.
"You mutts better run out of here. We are taking this case," he said in a gruff voice.
"What? This is our case, you can't just barge in here and..."
The man strode forward and grabbed the agent by his neck and lifted him up.
"That wasn't a request. Get out before the purple powerbank over there turns you both to ash. Now Scram, while you are still alive."
Whether it be his tyrannical action or imposing presence, the men in suits quickly left in silence. When only the Tessa and the giant of a man remained, he pulled out a chair and tried to sit down.
"As always, these chairs are tiny as hell."
"Commander Steel...Marcus, let me go home already. I haven't seen my family in over a week. I already told them everything I know. I even gave my nanomachine logs. What more do they want?"
"Slow down Tess, your personality is as fierce as ever. They gave me a call just this morning. I need to verify the things they wrote in the report about this incident."
Tessa in frustration stomped her foot which caused an electric shock that rippled through the room. Every electronic device went out for a split second, even the lights.
"Whoa there! Didn't you get married to tone down? Why are you even more tightly wound than when you worked for me?"
The woman brushed her hair back with her hand as she sighed, "Sorry, I just want to forget this whole thing and move on. It's not a good memory."
Marcus nodded then opened up a file folder and laid it out before Tessa.
"I'll just go over the specifics real quick, this is what they sent me. If you see any mistake clarify it right away. This won't even take a minute."
The ex-breaker clenched her fists in silence, lavender arcs of electricity dancing around her body.
"On July 23, Crestfall Academy took a field trip in Dungeon 04. There you completed a tour and came back. A group of students trespassed into a restricted area and found an active dungeon."
He then spread six student profiles out in a row.
"They disappeared for a couple of hours, before you could find them a dungeon break happened. Did I get everything right so far?"
"Y-Yes, that is correct," Tessa nodded. Her face grimaced upon seeing the pictures of the students. Their horrific screams still echoed in her mind along with nightmares of their final moments night after night since.
"Okay this part is of no interest. What comes next is what has everyone baffled. According to multiple students, five A-Ranked Red Soldier ants and an uncountable number of D-Ranked Red Worker ants came to attack you."
The teacher nodded, but her face warped in terror.
"But they were all stopped by a lone warrior covered from head to toe in black armor. Then due to his overwhelming power, the Red Ant legion ran... and he went after them," Marcus paused and stared at Tessa, he studied her expression but found no trace of falsehood.
"They ran away, Marcus. I am not crazy."
"Next, upon his return the black knight saw some of your students stealing his loot and tried to kill you all."
"Yes."
"But then a female mage appeared out of thin air and stopped him."
"Yes. She protected me in a castle of ice."
"And then the black knight gained his first job. A yellow stigma. The same man who pushed a legion that could have destroyed an entire country back alone."
"Yes. It was yellow."
"And then said knight turned into a monster that 'spurted snakes with shark teeth' and cannibalized every single corpse."
Tessa nodded in silence.
"Tess, you have got to work with me here. None of this crap makes a single lick of sense. And I haven't even gotten to the craziest parts yet," Marcus said with a heavy sigh.
"It's all true. I vow it on my son's life."
At her decisive words, Marcus closed the folder and turned on a TV screen along a wall.
There, a video began to play, it was the scene of a dark shadow looking down at the viewer.
[(@*#&@ #@&#^@@&, &@(#^@ @&$()@*&. @#@*@^@@. *% Weapon, @#%^@.]
Tessa who saw the playback immediately leapt up shivering, "W-What?"
"Tess, I believe you. We're family. But whatever you saw there. It's got everyone shaken. We tried to dig up everything we could. We found nothing. This thing is a ghost. The only word we have as proof of what happened is this shadow and the word, 'Weapon'."
A chill climbed her spine—the same one she'd felt in the presence of that white-haired deity.
"Not just yours, every single record from every teacher and every student. There is no knight, there is no mage. Only a lot of gibberish and this shadow. They are chalking it up to mass hallucination or a Cyber attack. You know how fool proof the suits think nanomachines are," Marcus continued.
"...speak of it no longer."
Tessa's mind began to go into shock, the nanomachines were not something one could tamper with. Yet the scenes she saw and heard which should have recorded failed. No wonder the agents of the police kept her here. If such a thing could be done, it was a threat to national security.
A pair of large hands grabbed Tessa's shoulders and shook her.
"Hey! Hey! Tess! Are you still with me?"
When Tessa stared at the one before her, she no longer saw Marcus, her former boss. Instead, she saw the black knight, his helmet opened and revealed grotesque jaws with razor sharp teeth. Then it screeched and tore her face and body asunder.
"NOOOOO!! GET AWAY FROM ME! SHE KNOWS!"
In hysteria, Tessa Potts thrashed uncontrollably, she covered her ears and closed her eyes. Trembling from absolute terror. Her body began to glow, and the air began to turn electrifying. A metallic scent wafted through the air. The metallic scent of ozone. The smell of lightning.
"I don't want to die! No—no! She knows!"
"Tess! TESS! SOMEONE GET IN HERE! SEDATE HER, QUICK!" Marcus roared to one of the walls, instantly people in white lab coats burst into the door and injected the screaming teacher with tranquilizers.
At once, Tessa's eyes rolled to the back of her head before she went limp.
"Boss, isn't this Purple Lightning? The former Rank A Breaker? What the hell happened?"
"Hell if I know. I just work here. Take her to the hospital and call her family. I'll handle the fallout."
"Sir!"
As his subordinates left, Marcus walked back to the student profiles and picked up one of them. The name on the profile read [Elian Reed].

"The only lead we have is a student who has gone missing. And he just had to be a Defect. This case is just all over the place. Looks like I'm going to be busy."
