Chapter 150: Alias

Silas Dornevale covered his face with his hand as he continued to laugh hysterically.

Meanwhile, Bianca looked unbothered by the developments; at least, that was what everyone else saw.

"Velvet! What the hell! Control your man! What are we going to do if he kills the current patriarch of the Dornevales?"

The witch flicked her hair as she gave Silas a look of condescension, "Then that is all he amounts to. If even the legendary house cannot survive my Tyrant’s test, what use is he?"

"..."

At least that was what she said outwardly. Elian heard Bianca in his mind, practically pulling her metaphorical hair out.

"ELIAN! ELIAN! PLEASE DON’T KILL HIM! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! YOU LOVE ME, RIGHT? DON’T KILL HIM! I FORBID IT!"

The vast difference between her cold exterior and warm interior made Elian’s heart melt. Despite not agreeing with his decision, Bianca was willing to risk everything, even losing her longtime friend. Somehow, he knew that even if he did kill Silas, Bianca would forgive him.

Feeling mischievous, he walked forward and grabbed Bianca by her waist.

"I love you, my Anchor. I knew you would get me. Don’t worry; if he does die, I will ensure he leaves nothing to bury."

A vein twitched in Bianca’s temple as she gritted her teeth and forced out, "Haha, as expected of my Tyrant. I will make the arrangements to contact his family."

"NOOOO!!!!! ELIAN!!! YOU CAN’T!!!!!"

"Pfft! Hahahaha!"

Unable to keep a straight face, Elian ended up bursting into laughter. Everyone else froze in place, confused at what was going on. Yet Elian only kept his eyes on the woman beside him. He pulled her closer and stole her lips.

It will be as you desire, Bianca.

"...Okay..."

That one statement calmed the chaos in Bianca’s heart. Her countenance brightened as her heavy worries melted like snow. Those unable to hear the exchange between the two could only wonder and get annoyed at the public display of affection by the Tyrant and his Anchor.

"Silas, do you want some time to prepare? Or are you good to go?"

The Breaker of the Ascendancy shook his head, "I am ready, my lord. In my line of work, we live each day as if it were our last. If I am to die today, then so be it. My son is ready to succeed me."

Hearing his calm and composed reply, Elian nodded in satisfaction, "Then let’s do it outside."

"Not in the courtyard of Mistress Winter’s boutique, my lord? Isn’t that where you tested Mr. Patel?"

"No, the one before wasn’t his test. He will get another one in the future. Walk with me. Charade, human."

Elian moved to go outside the guild building. His features and stature changed from Lucian Alvestra to the Tyrant of the Weapons. Bianca similarly separated from her puppet; she quickly stripped it of the Living Metal accessories and stored the body inside her magic bag.

When the Tyrant saw Bianca’s soul body fumble with the Living Metal accessories due to haste, he came back for her.

"Here, let me help."

Affectionately, he slipped the belt, gloves, and necklace onto her body with deft movements. She smiled and gave him a soft peck on the cheek in gratitude.

"Thank you."

Those around them could only grow envious of the love radiating from the pair. It was as if the only thing in the world the Tyrant would slow down for was his Anchor.

"Ehem, I know you’re madly in love with her, Lucian, but you need to be more aware of your surroundings. Chiara, you shouldn’t use such mishaps to get him to spoil you."

"Lucian? Chiara? Who are they? You two have ever more aliases?" Ned asked in disbelief.

Charlotte scoffed as she added, "This is on top of Velvet and Silver. Should I say, as expected of a pair of chameleons?"

Even Silas chipped in, "They also go by Mistress Winter and Sir HSK in our circles."

Upon his comment, Bianca let out a gasp, "Speaking of which, Silas, I was wearing ’Chiara.’ How did you even know it was me? My mana signature should have been masked."

He only let out a soft chuckle, "Mistress Winter, for a Dornevale, such disguises are quite useless. The fact that Sir HSK was with you was already a dead giveaway."

"Ho? So you knew it was me even after I changed my build and face?" Elian asked, intrigued.

The whole purpose of Lucian Alvestra was to be able to slip under the radar, yet this middle-aged Breaker knew immediately despite only seeing it for the first time. Compared to the Breakers of Conquest and the Church, Silas’ abilities were far more impressive.

"Yes. While your mana signature is nonexistent, your very presence sucks up all the mana surrounding you. It is an extremely telling sign that you are Sir HSK," Silas replied, smiling.

"Like a black hole, huh? So that was the feeling was."

"Yeah, you kinda know it’s Elian when you feel the buzz. For what it’s worth, the other Weapons give the same feeling. You’ll feel dizzy if you linger too long."

"Neddy, does your armor make you feel lightheaded? We have to be careful."

Katri, Ned, and Charlotte all commented on the same observation. Elian raised his evaluation of his opponent, but he also understood why Bianca often used several personas to move around. It was, for the most part, the power of anonymity.

As neither of them wanted to be in the spotlight, being able to change gears and shed the limelight was a good skill to have.

"Thank you for the information. For now, whenever I wear that face, call me Lucian and Bianca as Chiara. Katri, Ned, Char, the same goes for you three. I will change to this form if I need to borrow Elian’s face," he then turned to Bianca and asked, "As for the others..."

Bianca smiled, "Winter and HSK will be our names and aliases when we interact with nobility. Velvet and Silver when we deal with the underworld. The separation grants a layer of protection to those who wish to track or harm us."

Elian and Bianca when they needed authority; Winter and HSK for pedigree, Velvet and Silver for the darkness. Lucian and Chiara for when they were hiding in plain sight. Elian nodded in understanding at why Bianca had so many.

How interesting. I get to fall in love with so many versions of you.

Bianca smiled as she replied in a voice only he could hear.

"Fufu. Is that so? You should change your personality for each one as well. It helps sell the illusion; it is also a lot of fun."

Leave it to my lover to find joy in hiding from those who wish to kill her.

"Hey! It’s not like I can stay sad and depressed all the time!"

Now that I am here, I will ensure you spend the rest of your days being loved and adored.

"Oh? Not happy and blissful?"

I won’t lie to you. Even as we spend the rest of our lives together, there will be hard and sad days. I lack the power to protect you from those. But I promise that even if you have a bad day, I will love and adore you regardless.

Bianca leaned in closer and planted a kiss on Elian’s lips.

"Then I look forward to the future. Spending my days loved is even better than being happy."

Once again, Elian found himself lost in Bianca’s beauty. Chiara was cute, but nowhere near the real thing. Their bonding time was cut short by someone’s grumbling.

"Seriously, you two! Stop flirting already! You vanish into your pink bubble the second no one’s watching!" Char snapped in annoyance.

"Tsk. Just you wait, you bastards; I will find my own lover and flirt all the time with him too," Katri added, her face overcome with jealousy.

Elian and Bianca could only smile wryly and resume going outside. When they did, the immense gaze of the afternoon sun scorched their skin. But that seemed like nothing in the face of the sea of metal monsters surrounding the vicinity.

Like an army, the Weapons protected the building. Those in the surrounding buildings were forced to evacuate when the Weapons began to loiter around them. Apart from Bianca and a few others, the monsters who saved Crestfall were not friendly or engaged in conversation.

Beyond the perimeter of metal guards were many humans eager to see what was going on. Elian could see many familiar news reporters and streamers, all eager to get the latest scoop.

"Tsk, they’re still here," Elian said in irritation.

"How could they not? Crestfall practically turned into a DMZ that no government or guild has access to," Charlotte answered like a know-it-all.

Ignoring her complaints, Elian stopped in the middle of the street. He narrowed his eyes at the cluster of buildings and gave a single command to all the Weapons present.

"Clear that area for me."

With one command, the Weapons all began to move. They tore down all the buildings of a single block. Like an overpowered wrecking crew, the Beowolves and the Virexar Weapons demolished all the buildings in Elian’s chosen area.

They repositioned to surround the cleared area.

From a single thought, reality followed Elian’s will. The sense of omnipotence pleased him.

Those who watched all had complicated expressions. They ranged from disbelief to horror, from anger to fear. If anyone doubted that Elian Reed was present, they all found their proof.

Elian stepped forward, leading his group toward the open area. His hands fiddled with his console as he walked. Many wanted to see what he was up to, but few had the courage to come closer.

That was until they received another mission from the Weapons of Valestra.
