My Three Beautiful Vampire Wives can hear my Inner Thoughts-Chapter 154: Conspiring
The king’s command had barely faded when the magic circle above the sky burst into motion.
The enormous ring of golden runes rotated violently, each symbol blazing brighter as if the circle itself had awakened.
Mana gathered from every direction.
From the palace towers.
From the enchanted streets.
From the magical lamps and protective charms scattered across the city.
All of it surged upward toward that massive circle hanging above Cain.
The air trembled under the pressure.
Then the king raised both of his hands toward the sky.
"Strike him down!"
The magic circle answered.
A beam of blinding gold shot downward like a falling star.
BOOOOM!
The attack slammed into Cain’s body with enough force to shatter the air itself. The explosion shook the entire city and sent shockwaves rolling through the streets like an earthquake.
Stone cracked.
Windows shattered.
Citizens screamed as the ground trembled beneath their feet.
But the king did not stop.
His eyes burned with determination as he lifted his hands again.
"Again!"
Another beam crashed down from the circle.
BOOOOM!
Then another.
BOOOOM!
The sky lit up again and again as the king unleashed spell after spell. The golden circle continued pouring destructive power downward in relentless bursts that slammed into the same point where Cain hovered.
The air turned into a storm of roaring magic.
Lightning mixed with golden fire.
Wind spiraled outward from each explosion.
Dust and broken stone rose into the sky until the entire plaza disappeared beneath a thick cloud of smoke and debris.
The king’s voice rose above the chaos.
"You dare invade my kingdom!"
Another blast crashed down.
BOOOOM!
"I will not allow it!"
Another beam.
BOOOOM!
His ministers watched with tense expressions as the king poured more and more mana into the attack.
Sweat formed on his brow but he ignored it.
"More!"
The magic circle responded instantly.
Another massive strike fell from the heavens.
BOOOOM!
The impact shook the palace walls behind him.
Several guards stumbled from the force.
Still the king continued.
"Strike him again!"
BOOOOM!
"Again!"
BOOOOM!
The attacks rained down like divine punishment, each one powerful enough to level a fortress.
Yet the king did not slow down.
His breathing grew heavier.
His arms trembled slightly from the strain.
But every time the explosions faded for even a moment he raised his hands again and shouted another command.
"Do not stop!"
BOOOOM!
"If he still lives then strike again!"
BOOOOM!
"Burn him to nothing!"
BOOOOM!
The city below watched in stunned horror as their king unleashed the full might of royal magic against the lone figure in the sky.
Even the battle between the ministers and the blood-covered sorcerers slowed as everyone turned to watch the relentless assault.
Minutes passed.
The golden circle continued firing.
The king’s voice grew hoarse from shouting.
Yet every time the dust thinned and he thought the target might still exist, he raised his hands again and commanded another strike.
"I can still feel his presence!"
BOOOOM!
"Do not stop!"
BOOOOM!
"Again!"
BOOOOM!
The explosions became almost continuous.
The sky turned into a blinding storm of golden fire.
At last the king lowered his hands.
His chest rose and fell heavily.
The massive magic circle above slowly dimmed as the spell reached its limit.
The dust cloud covering the battlefield hung thick in the air.
For several long seconds nobody spoke.
The only sound was the faint crackling of broken stone settling across the ruined plaza.
The king stared into the cloud of smoke.
His eyes narrowed.
"Did it work..."
The wind slowly pushed the dust away.
Shapes began to appear through the haze.
The shattered ground.
Broken rooftops.
Fragments of stone scattered across the plaza.
Then a figure.
Standing in the center of the destruction.
Cain.
He floated calmly in the air with his arms crossed over his chest.
Not a single scratch marked his body.
His coat still hung neatly around his shoulders as if the storm of magic had never touched him.
His wings remained spread behind him.
He looked down at the king with mild boredom.
"Is that all you’ve got?"
Silence fell across the city.
The ministers stared upward with wide eyes.
One of them whispered in disbelief.
"That... that is impossible."
Another spoke under his breath.
"Even a peak Emperor powerhouse would at least suffer a scratch from that spell."
A third minister slowly shook his head.
"But look at him..."
"He is completely unharmed."
The words spread through the crowd like cold wind. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
Even the king felt his heartbeat grow heavy in his chest.
His mind raced.
Peak Emperor.
That level was already considered the highest power within this plane.
Yet the vampire in front of him had taken a full royal spell barrage without even defending himself.
The king’s thoughts reached a frightening conclusion.
"Could it be..."
One minister spoke the fear aloud.
"Did he enter that zone?"
The zone beyond the Emperor level.
The mysterious realm spoken about only in ancient texts.
A place where beings stepped beyond the limits of this plane.
If that was true...
Then the man floating above them was not someone the kingdom could fight.
The king slowly lowered his gaze.
His expression changed.
The anger vanished from his face.
In its place appeared something else.
Fear.
Then suddenly the king bent forward.
He bowed deeply toward Cain.
The movement shocked everyone.
"Lord vampire."
His voice sounded completely different now.
"This was a misunderstanding."
Gasps echoed around the plaza.
The king straightened slightly before bowing again.
"Please forgive our offense."
Even as he spoke he bent further and further forward until the bow looked awkward with him standing on the palace steps while trying to show respect toward the figure hovering in the air.
"I did not realize who we were facing."
His voice carried desperate respect.
"If we had known earlier that such a great lord had entered our city we would have welcomed you properly."
He bowed again.
"I take full responsibility for the mistake."
The king continued speaking with increasing urgency.
"My kingdom is willing to do anything to make up for our wrongdoing."
"We will offer tribute."
"Gold."
"Mana crystals."
"Magical artifacts."
"Whatever your lordship desires."
He bowed again and again while speaking.
"I beg you to forgive our ignorance."
Around him the ministers stared in disbelief.
The battle between the royal forces and the blood-covered sorcerers slowed until both sides simply froze in place.
Nobody expected their king to lower himself this far.
For several seconds there was only silence.
Then Cain uncrossed his arms slightly.
He looked down at the king.
"You sound insincere."
The words landed like a stone.
The king stiffened.
"No, my lord."
He quickly bowed again.
"I swear that my words are sincere."
He raised his head slightly with a strained smile.
"If blood is what you desire... we will provide it."
His voice grew more desperate.
"We have many prisoners in our dungeons."
"Criminals who deserve punishment."
"If your lordship wishes to feed on their blood we will deliver them immediately."
He swallowed before continuing.
"And if that is not enough..."
His voice lowered further.
"...we can also provide women."
"Children."
"Pure blood."
"Even virgins if your lordship prefers."
His words hung in the air.
Several ministers gasped.
One of them finally could not remain silent.
"Your Majesty!"
The minister stepped forward angrily.
"You cannot say such things!"
Others quickly followed him.
"Please reconsider!"
"We cannot sacrifice our own people!"
One minister raised his hands in protest.
"We are human!"
"We cannot forget our humanity just to survive!"
Another added desperately.
"Our kingdom stands on the honor of protecting our citizens!"
"If we hand them over like livestock then what kind of rulers are we?"
More voices joined the protest.
"This is wrong!"
"We cannot allow it!"
The king’s face twisted with anger.
"Shut up you fools!"
His roar silenced them instantly.
"You have no idea what you are speaking about!"
His eyes glared at them fiercely.
"Do you even understand who stands before us?"
His hand pointed toward Cain.
"That being could erase this entire kingdom without effort!"
He took a deep breath before turning back toward the sky.
The anger on his face disappeared again.
He bowed once more.
"My lord."
His voice returned to respectful calm.
"Please forgive the ignorance of my ministers."
He hesitated before asking carefully.
"How many women and children do you desire?"
"We will prepare them immediately."
"And if your lordship wishes for virgins... we can gather them from noble families as well."
"I swear that we will fulfill any request you make."
High above the city Cain stared at him.
Then he shook his head slowly.
"I’m not interested."
The king blinked.
"...Not interested?"
Cain yawned slightly.
The king quickly bowed again.
"Then may I ask..."
His voice trembled with caution.
"What does my lord desire?"
The entire plaza held its breath.
Cain looked down at the king with calm red eyes.
"It concerns my blood pact of course."
