Chapter 51: The hero is finally here!

His armour was terrible damaged, one leg soaked in blood.

His staff, his trusted weapon, was cracked and broken in half.

His left arm dangled limply by his side—dislocated or worse.

And Riley towered before him, eyes glowing, face expressionless, chest rising with slow, steady breaths.

Grrrhhhh...

He growled lowly.

Yano stepped back, his foot scraping against rubble. Cold sweat poured down his face. He wanted to scream. To curse out loud... or even turn his back and run like a coward.

But his legs wouldn’t move.

’This... thing...’ he thought, eyes shaking.

’What kind of monster is this? How is it so strong? What the hell even is it!?’

He couldn’t breathe, and the broken staff in his hand felt too heavy to even lift.

Riley leaned forward slightly.

And then—

SWISSHH!!!

A sudden, blinding light split through the heavens like a divine blade, forcing Yano to squint.

Even Riley paused, his glowing eyes narrowing as he turned his head toward the sky.

Above them—

A golden beam pierced through the thick clouds, illuminating the village square in a radiant glow.

A voice thundered across the battlefield, echoing through the ruins like a divine proclamation.

"Don’t worry, everyone!"

The voice was bold, clear, and annoyingly charismatic.

"The hero is finally here!!"

The remaining players—those who had watched the massacre from a distance—turned their heads in disbelief.

And then—

BOOOOOOOM!!

A brilliant beam of pure light fired from the sky, screaming toward the ground like a lance of judgment.

It struck Riley square in the chest.

KRAKOOM!!!

The impact shook the ground, creating a mini-crater where he stood. Dust and golden smoke spread out in waves, and the entire battlefield went silent.

Yano, still stunned, raised his arm to shield his eyes.

Then—

Fwwsssshhhh...

The smoke cleared, and the light slowly faded.

And standing in the center of the crater was Riley.

The thick cloud of darkness around his chest had parted slightly, revealing a black burn mark.

He grunted, taking a single step back.

The smoke around his chest slowly closed back, growing slightly thicker.

"Haaa..." Riley exhaled, a puff of black smoke leading his nostrils.

For the first time since the battle began... he had been injured, though it wasn’t critical.

Yano’s mouth opened slightly.

"He... managed to injure that beast...?"

The air shimmered again.

And this time—

Fwoosh!!

A figure descended from the sky like a comet, landing in a clean, heroic crouch between Yano and Riley.

The wind kicked up dramatically, his golden cloak fluttering behind him like a banner.

His curly blonde hair fluttered gently in the wind, and in his hands was a long red spear, which glistened slightly.

"Looks like I got here just in time." he said, his lips curled into a slight smirk.

His voice was smooth, confident, and calm.

Yano stared up at him, disbelief coloring every inch of his battered face.

"Terry..." he breathed.

The hero turned his head slightly, flashing a bright smile.

"I’ll take it from here... you should tend to your injuries."

Yano stared at Terry’s bright smile with a twitch in his eye.

"Tch... like hell i need your help," he muttered.

His pride had already been crushed bitterly today, but admitting he was being saved—especially by Terry, was something he would never do.

However, he turned around, gritting his teeth as he limped away.

He couldn’t even walk properly due to the injuries on his body, but his pride wouldn’t allow him pull out a healing potion and use in it front of Terry.

To him, that would be admitting defeat.

He didn’t get far before pausing to glance back.

His eyes flicked to the familiar floating tabs above Terry’s head.

[ID: Terry the Hero]

[Level: 10]

[H/P: 2100]

"...What the hell?" Yano muttered under his breath, scowling.

Over two thousand health? At Level Ten?

How was that even possible?!

He bit his lip so hard it nearly bled, frustration boiling in his gut like acid.

’We’re supposed to be the same level... how does he have more than double my health?’ he mumbled inwardly. ’How is he this strong already?’

His fingers curled tightly around the cracked half of his staff as shame clawed at his chest.

’I’m so pathetic... too weak...’ He clenched his jaw and turned away.

Meanwhile, Terry faced Riley squarely, the wind still rustling through his golden cloak. The smile on his lips faded, replaced by a deep frown.

He raised the gleaming red spear in his hands, pointing it directly at the beast-like figure standing before him.

"I was too busy fighting monsters," Terry said, his voice colder now.

"...Didn’t realize an even bigger one was attacking the village."

His words echoed through the ruined village square, hanging heavy in the air.

Then he smirked again, twirling the spear once as light shimmered across the tip.

"Now that I know..."

He planted one foot forward, lowering his stance.

"I’ll take you down—and save everyone!"

He spun the spear one more time and raised it high with dramatic flair. freewebnøvel.com

"Because that’s what a hero does!"

The wind swirled behind him as if answering his declaration.

But Riley didn’t respond with words.

He simply grunted, irritated at the sudden development.

And then—

BOOM!

He lunged forward, exploding into motion like a living missile.

His feet crushed the stone beneath him as he charged at Terry, his eyes blazing in anger.

Terry’s eyes widened.

’It’s fast!’

CRACK!!

Before the thought even finished, a monstrous punch slammed into his right side like a battering ram.

"Gah—!!"

His ribs compressed with a sickening crunch, and his body was sent hurtling like a ragdoll through the air.

He smashed into the ground with a thunderous crash, stone and dust exploding around him.

Blood sprayed from his mouth as he rolled once, twice—before finally grinding to a halt.

For a split second, silence.

Then—

Haa—!

Terry pushed himself up, boots digging into the dirt.

Swishh!

The light around his red spear flared to life, glowing brighter with each breath.

His eyes narrowed.

’This thing’s strength... it’s insane.’

His instincts suddenly screamed at him once again, and his eyes widened in shock.

Without hesitation, he swung his spear in a wide arc in front of him.

SHRRRAKKK—!!

A blazing slash of pure light burst out like a wave, cutting through the air in a brilliant flash—

—and struck Riley directly in the chest, just as the monster was about to lunge at him once again.

The cloud of dark mist swirling around Riley’s torso ripped apart, exposing flesh as the radiant blade carved across his body.

Hiiisshhh—!!

A thin, charred line was burned across his chest, dark blood slowly oozing from the wound.

Riley let out a deafening roar of pain and fury.

"GRAAAAGHHHH!!!"

His muscles tensed violently, and his whole body trembled.

GRRRR!!!

His stomach rumbled again, echoing across the square like the growl of some ancient beast.

He lifted his head, eyes gleaming with fury and hunger.

"Food... more..."

Terry blinked, caught off guard—not by the roar, but by the words.

He stepped back slightly, spear still raised.

"...After eating all those people, you still aren’t satisfied?"

His lips curled into a grim frown.

"What a hungry demon."

He spun his spear once, then again—faster this time.

Fwsssshhh—FWSSHHH—!!

Flashes of light sparked around him, orbiting his body in spiraling patterns.

Each flash rapidly formed into light arrows, dozens of them, hovering around him.

With a final twirl of his weapon, he slashed it down—

"Eat this then, you demon!"

The arrows shot forward all at once—each one streaking like a comet, screeching toward Riley at blinding speed.
