My Perfect Female CEO-Chapter 1007: Doomed
Yahward was collapsing, one catastrophic news after another came, leaving him in utter despair.
Defeat, defeat, all the assault troops have been completely defeated.
Moreover, the enemy launched a charge, crushing them with overwhelming superiority, and the troops under his command could not withstand it at all.
"Sir, what should we do? The enemy’s numbers are more than twice ours, they have tanks and armored vehicles as cover, all the assault troops cannot hold them, not even in a defensive stance, the casualties are tremendous."
"I can hardly believe it, the enemy across from us has gathered such powerful forces and firepower."
"From the beginning, the enemy’s tanks and armored vehicles did not move during our charge, and now they are fully deployed."
"Conservatively estimated, our casualties have already neared ten thousand."
Beside Yahward, a group of generals were anxious and filled with concern.
Charging had become impossible, now the enemy was charging, and they couldn’t even fend off the enemy’s charge.
If they don’t retreat, allowing the enemy to bite down on them like this will inevitably result in substantial casualties. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
Yahward didn’t even have the slightest confidence to hold back the enemy’s offensive.
"Retreat, move towards the rear and Lani’s direction, find an opportunity to ambush and crush the enemy’s arrogance, and then look for opportunities to expand the territory." Yahward, with no alternatives left, could only issue this order.
Yahward personally led forty thousand troops in a hasty retreat, leaving over ten thousand troops to cover the rear.
In this battle, of Yahward’s 80,000 troops, the casualties had already approached 20,000, with 10,000 staying at the rear, and the wounded soldiers were all left in the rear guard units.
Under the cover of tanks and armored vehicles, the Ba Country army roared forward, and upon seeing Yahward’s escape, tens of thousands of troops launched a full-scale attack, with the over ten thousand rear guards quickly becoming vulnerable and being wiped out at an astonishing speed.
Yahward hadn’t fled far before the Ba Country army was already on his tail.
Yahward had no choice but to leave troops behind to hold the rear, while he himself led the remaining army to continue retreating.
Finally, Yahward, looking rather ragged, escaped to a place not far from Michael’s position, where the front-line troops were already engaged.
Yahward was startled, furiously asking, "What’s going on ahead? Aren’t all my people guarding the small town?"
"Sir, the traitor, that traitor Michael is intercepting us, he has already built solid defensive positions to stop us from retreating, and our people have surrendered." A leading figure said, with a grim face.
It was only under the muzzle of Michael that they realized that the territory they had captured no longer belonged to them.
It was naturally the leader who had surrendered under Michael’s command who fed Yahward false information.
If the truth had been explained, Yahward would never have brought the troops to Michael’s gunpoint.
"Fight your way out, make me a bloody path!" Yahward shouted frantically.
"Sir, Michael’s troops are waiting in a strong defensive setup. It would be difficult to tear open a breach to break out, and it would also waste not a short amount of time. If Michael manages to delay us here, once the northern and western enemies come at us, we’ll be surrounded on three sides, and the situation will be life and death." A general voiced his concerns anxiously.
"Damn it, Michael, that shameless traitor, how did he silently plant such a big mine behind my back." Yahward cursed, then loudly ordered, "Retreat east, combine forces with Lani, and then jointly attack the enemy."
Yahward left some bodies in front of Michael’s positions and then changed direction to retreat eastward.
This was Yahward’s only escape route; the other directions were teeming with danger, the troops cold and sharp.
Little did he know, the place he resolutely hoped for was his burial ground.
Michael didn’t just watch, he left 4,000 men to guard the small town, then personally led 20,000 troops to chase Yahward’s fleeing army.
Besides a clear path towards Lani, Yahward was pursued heavily in every other direction.
Finally, Yahward fled to the outskirts of the city where Lani was located, by now he had only 20,000 troops left, akin to a defeated dog. Yet his eyes were bright; arriving at Lani’s territory meant he could catch his breath, then join forces with Lani to resist the invaders.
Yahward, under the army’s escort, marched towards the city.
"Enter the city, then we recover our strength, regain energy and fight back, we’ll certainly smash Nami to pieces." Yahward exhaled deeply, speaking with a pleased expression.
No sooner had he spoken than a burst of gunfire rang out.
From the city direction, warriors from various positions emerged and fired directly at Yahward’s location.
Yahward was pale with fright.
The generals and warriors beside him were even more terrified and confused.
All their hopes were placed on ally Lani, but now, the ally was shooting at them, and the mounting chase and fury all turned into despair, leaving no hope whatsoever.
Yahward fled in humiliation, fearing that a stray bullet would take his life.
He didn’t order return fire, being caught in a dire predicament now, it’s not the time to act recklessly.
Even at his peak, he wouldn’t dare to turn against Lani, let alone now.
When the gunfire ceased, many of Yahward’s troops had died.
"Damn bastards, we are allies!" Yahward restrained his urge to curse loudly, instead he shouted.
He had already spoken to Lani over the phone, there was no reason for Lani’s men to fire at him!
Yahward didn’t have time to ponder much, scurrying to open a video call with Lani, accusing her, "Lani, what are your men doing? Why are they shooting my men?"
"Yahward, your time is up." Lani said boldly.
Then, she swept the phone towards Ye Fan and Nami.
Immediately, the video call ended.
Not because it was hung up.
Rather, Yahward’s phone fell to the ground.
"It’s over, it’s over." Yahward was filled with despair, devoid of ambition, left only with unease.
"Sir, what happened? What exactly is going on?" The generals beside him hurriedly asked.
"Mr. Ye and Nami are with Lani, it seems Lani has pledged allegiance to Nami." Yahward said weakly.
He couldn’t understand the interests involved, especially with Lani, how could she betray their alliance and instead pledge loyalty to Ba Country, eventually becoming his doom as the Thunderous Killing Blade.
He didn’t understand, truly didn’t understand.
"What?" A group of generals were like struck by lightning, standing in stunned silence.
Their expressions were grim, as if all strength had been drained from their bodies, they were just short of collapsing to the ground.
