My Perfect Female CEO-Chapter 1006: Defection and Charge
The one thousand troops stationed in the city could clearly hear the gunfire and explosions in the distance, imagining the horrific battlefield scenes, and amidst the chilling realization, Michael was leading the army closer, which made the commander even more unsettled.
Seeing Michael, the traitor, the commander was naturally filled with anger and murderous intent; Yahward had issued an order that whoever could take Michael’s head would be credited with a great achievement.
Seeing Michael daringly enter his territory alone, the commander’s heart was as cold as ice.
"Courting death, daring to set foot on my territory alone, if not seeking death, what is it?" The commander sneered internally and issued an order, "Let him in."
Soon, the guards made way for Michael.
Michael met the commander.
"You traitor, you have the nerve to come see me." The commander scolded.
"Traitor? No need to use such harsh words, right?" Michael chuckled dryly twice, "If my memory serves, you were once a mere squad leader under Farhadi, surrendering with your men to Yahward during a battle, which brought you here today."
"All that is in the past, don’t bring it up again." The commander sneered, "Lord Yahward has ordered that killing Michael the traitor is a great accomplishment. You are courting death by delivering such a monumental credit to me on a silver platter, and I will fulfill your wish."
With that said, he ordered, "Tie him up for me."
Immediately, two soldiers stepped forward, holding Michael from both sides.
"Stop, stop immediately! I’m here to show you the bright path. Do you see the twenty thousand soldiers outside? They’re mine. If you harm me even slightly, at my command, these twenty thousand troops will charge in, and everyone here will perish without a burial place." Michael quickly said.
"They’re all yours? Not likely, right? You, being so highly valued under Nami’s command?" The commander was full of disbelief.
"They are truly mine, and if you don’t believe it, I can prove it to you." Michael said calmly.
The commander waved his hand, and the two soldiers holding Michael released him.
Michael shouted toward the army a hundred meters away from the small city, "Everyone, retreat one hundred meters, holster your weapons, and do not move without my order."
Soon, the twenty thousand troops collectively retreated a hundred meters, holstering their guns and artillery aimed at the small city.
"Now do you believe it?" Michael confidently smiled.
"Perhaps they are just cooperating with you for show." The commander still had some doubt.
"Did you hear the sounds of battle over there?" Michael motioned toward Yahward’s direction and said, "To tell you the truth, Yahward is already blocked by eighty to ninety thousand troops, suffering heavy losses under the attack of heavy artillery. Coordinated with tanks and armored vehicles, Yahward’s defeat is only a matter of time. I’m here to block Yahward’s retreat. Do you want to join me in gaining credit? If so, follow me. If you continue to serve Yahward, you’re surely courting death."
"With such flowery speech, why would I follow you, a traitor?" The commander said displeased, "Even if the twenty thousand soldiers outside are yours, what difference does it make? If they dare attack, I will first eliminate you. You’ve come alone into the lion’s den, and you think I would fear you? How laughable. I have two small towns behind me with three thousand troops. Even if you lead twenty thousand troops to attack me, it would be digging your own grave. I have assistance at my rear, and Yahward is sending reinforcements at the front; do you think you have a way out?"
The sound of battle from afar gave the commander a sense that Yahward’s situation was dire, as the dense sound of heavy artillery were weapons Yahward didn’t possess, indicating the peril Yahward faced.
"Actually, I fear death more than you, so why would I put myself in danger?" Michael gave a strange smile, then leaned closer to the commander, whispering, "Inside the small city, there are members of the Wild League. If they coordinate with me to attack from the inside and outside, it will take less than three minutes for your thousand men to be wiped out by my twenty thousand troops. Additionally, I’ll tell you a shocking news: all officers and soldiers of Lani’s unit have surrendered to Nami, with Mr. Ye playing a critical role in this."
"There are Wild League members in my territory, there’s nothing to doubt about that." The commander said hesitantly, "But Lani leading her troops to join Nami? How is that possible?"
"Why didn’t Lani encounter strong resistance on her advance? Can you get a sense of it now? This was all Mr. Ye’s strategic planning to lure the enemy, which, of course, targets Yahward, aiming to annihilate Yahward’s troops." Michael said unhurriedly.
The commander thought seriously, then carefully asked, "Are you not lying to me? Mr. Ye really participated in this?"
"Of course, would I mention Mr. Ye recklessly if it wasn’t true? Besides, do I have the guts to do so? You should know, Mr. Ye is a Forbidden Powerhouse, feared by all in Ba Country." Michael said.
"Alright, I’ll follow you, just because of the reputation of Mr. Ye the Forbidden Powerhouse." The commander’s attitude changed abruptly.
"Now that’s the right choice; as they say, ’a wise man submits to circumstances.’" Michael laughed heartily.
Thus, Michael’s twenty thousand troops entered the city, quickly establishing defensive positions and readying for battle.
Under the commander’s lead, Yahward’s one thousand troops swiftly switched camps.
The commander volunteered to persuade the two other troops stationed in the small towns behind.
Soon, all three commanders defected to Michael’s side; the four-thousand-man force immediately abandoned Yahward and became a part of Michael’s unit.
Behind Yahward, stationed in the captured cities, were only ten thousand troops, while the four thousand on the retreat route were no longer his.
Michael’s side achieved a great victory without firing a single shot.
Yahward’s side suffered severe losses and was utterly defeated.
The continuing charges were all suppressed.
The consequences were a significant loss of combat strength.
Facing the repeated setbacks of the attacking troops, Yahward was heartbroken and anxious.
The generals around him were also anxious, without any effective strategies.
However, Yahward’s troops were unable to muster a charge, while the Ba Country’s troops seized the opportunity to launch their first assault. Under the cover of tanks and armored vehicles, they unleashed a thunderous offensive on Yahward’s position.
The heavy artillery continued its roar.
Yahward’s men had just been beaten back from the charging road; before they could catch their breath, they faced yet another wave of annihilating attack. Their defensive positions were too rudimentary, with no time for fortification, quickly leading to a situation where no egg remains unbroken under an overturned nest.
