Chapter 88: Candice Suspended, Adrian Fired...

After a hectic day, Damian completely zoned out and spent the entire night resting. He was satisfied, knowing he had completed ninety percent of the tasks on his to do list before the vacation. The only thing left was to meet Judge Vance and subtly coerce her into leaning toward his side at all times.

The next morning, Damian woke up feeling unmotivated and decided not to leave his bed. Until Clara gathered the information he needed on Judge Vance, there was nothing pressing for him to do.

He had originally planned to go shopping with his wives, but his busy schedule had forced them to go without him. The repainting, plumbing, and electrical work had already been handled, leaving him with very little to occupy his time aside from choosing vacation spots, booking flights, and reserving hotel rooms.

Those could wait.

Around noon, still wrapped comfortably beneath his duvet, Damian picked up his phone to check if Clara had sent any updates about Judge Vance. Instead, he found several unread messages from the previous night. He had been so immersed in work that he had not even noticed his girl had texted him.

From her messages, he learned that Candice had received disciplinary action in the form of a one month suspension without pay for unprofessional conduct in the workplace. Adrian, however, had faced far harsher consequences. Physically attacking another employee within the firm was no minor offense, especially coming from a junior staff member against a senior. His employment had been terminated by the end of the day, and the entire office had watched him pack his belongings and leave.

Clara had even sent a video of him walking out of the firm with a box in his hands, his expression hollow and lifeless. The man looked completely broken, but Damian felt nothing.

This was the same man responsible for his death in the first place. If anything, Adrian should be grateful Damian was not actively seeking to have him killed.

"The worst part is Candice will dump him now that he’s jobless... Heh. Will he bite the bullet just like me?"

While Damian saw no need to go out of his way to harm Adrian over someone like Candice, that did not mean he would not enjoy watching him suffer.

Bam! Bam!

Bam! Bam!

Sudden, violent knocks shook the door, followed by Ruby’s furious voice.

"Since you have decided to sleep all day, I might as well grant you eternal rest!"

"Ruby!!!" Racheal rebuked sharply.

"Don’t touch my darling!" Hazel shouted.

Damian shot up from the bed instantly, his instincts screaming danger. Without hesitation, he dashed toward the window and leaped out just as the sound of the door being kicked open exploded behind him.

He soared through the air, his hair whipping wildly in the wind before landing heavily on the ground below. Even so, he maintained perfect balance upon impact. For the current Damian, jumping from the second floor was nothing.

A powerful gust of wind swept through the area as Hazel and Racheal appeared beside him in bursts of red and pink smoke, taking positions at his sides. Ruby manifested several meters away in a swirl of emerald smoke.

"If he’s not working, he should be training! You two are spoiling him rotten!" Ruby snapped.

"He has been working hard lately!" Hazel countered immediately.

"And so have his enemies. The one who sleeps less wins!"

Damian’s expression stiffened at those words. "I’m not sure that’s how it works."

"She has a point though..." Racheal muttered, taking a quiet step away from Damian.

Huh?!

Damian placed a hand on his chest, his upper body jerking back in exaggerated betrayal. How could she turn on him like this after all those late night heart to heart conversations?

"I’m sorry. But your safety is my priority. You will forgive me someday."

Puff!

She vanished in a cloud of pink smoke and reappeared beside Ruby.

"Don’t worry, baby. I won’t let them hurt you!" Hazel stepped forward, positioning herself protectively in front of Damian, her voice filled with resolve.

Damian’s eyes trembled with emotion. Who would have thought that in his greatest hour of need, his first wife would be the only one standing firmly by his side?

"Okay, let’s make a deal. You and him against me and Racheal. A two on two team fight!" Ruby proposed.

Damian’s expression immediately soured.

"You want a mortal to fight demi gods? Where is your shame?" he shot back.

Racheal covered her mouth, struggling to suppress her laughter, turning her face away so he would not see her failing to hold it in.

Ruby, however, made no such effort. She burst out laughing openly.

"Don’t worry. We’ll limit ourselves to your level," she said.

Huh?!

Damian straightened at once, narrowing his eyes suspiciously. Why would she agree to something like that?

His wives were powerful, yes, but they were not Princes of Hell. His inheritance was not something they could rival if they were restricted to the same level.

"Fine." Damian stepped forward, moving beside Hazel. "But I’m not beating you for free. This royal ass whooping comes at a price."

Confidence surged through him. In fact, he saw this as the perfect moment to establish dominance and set the tone of the household.

Ruby, however, showed no sign of intimidation.

"What do you want?" she asked, stepping forward boldly.

Damian drew in a slow breath, his eyes narrowing further. His wife was walking up to him now?

And not his first wife, but the second?

Were they staging a rebellion?

He nodded slowly, a savage grin spreading across his face.

"If we win, no more training for a month starting tomorrow."

"So thirty days..."

"Thirty one!" he cut in immediately.

Ruby’s brows furrowed.

Did her husband truly believe that possessing a powerful inheritance alone would earn him the throne? 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

She would show him exactly why refined technique always triumphed over raw strength.

"And if we win, you train every single day of the month. Including during the vacation."

A collective gasp sounded from every direction, even from behind her. Ruby turned sharply, glaring at Racheal, who was supposed to be on her side.

"Not the vacation..." Racheal murmured weakly, shaking her head with a pleading look.

"Yes. Especially the vacation!" Ruby confirmed with a sinister smile.

"You monster!" Hazel hissed angrily. "Will you only stop when you’ve drained my darling of every ounce of joy in his life?"

"If sacrificing his happiness is what it takes to keep him alive, then so be it!" Ruby replied without hesitation.
