My Idol System: An Idol, But Also A Savior-Chapter 215: Hard to Believe, but the Truth All the Same
As soon as Joshua returned, he threw himself into intensive practice for the upcoming fansign. Days passed in a blur of sweat and hard work. Lucas seemed to have been forgotten somewhere in the background, with only fans occasionally coming out to cry over him. All the news reports showed that he had decided to leave the entertainment industry, yet there was still no sign of any concrete action from him.
In truth, with Lucas’s level of popularity, he could completely ignore everything for a while, wait for the heat of the scandal to die down, then become an internet celebrity and still make a huge amount of money, living a stable life. Even if some people scolded him, there would also be many who sympathized with him because of it. As long as he knew how to act pitiful and present himself as actively changing and moving forward, that would be enough.
Many people felt that this was exactly the future path Lucas would take. Even the remaining fan clubs had begun to look forward to it.
To be able to remain a fan of Lucas up until now, most of them were the kind of fans who were loyal to the death. They would not care about whatever controversies surrounded him.
Meanwhile, at the Adonis residence, things were far more eventful.
Today, the Adonis couple had just returned from outside when they saw their workaholic son actually sitting in front of the television, with lively music blaring from it.
They were shocked—truly shocked—to the point that they even began questioning whether something special had happened recently.
Louis heard the sound, turned his head, and immediately saw his parents standing behind him, staring at him with shocked and incredulous expressions. He still maintained a serious look and said, "It’s been a long time since our family sat down and talked. Come over and sit."
Mr. and Mrs. Adonis exchanged a glance, then finally sat down.
Mrs. Adonis even took Louis’s hand and gently patted it. "Louis, has work been very hard on you lately?"
Louis: "..."
But very quickly, they could no longer keep up the small talk, because the screen changed. Mr. and Mrs. Adonis’s eyes almost instantly became glued to the television. Playing on it was Joshua’s audition from the first round of Shining Path.
Clearly, this scene had been voted as one of Joshua’s funniest moments, yet as they watched it, tears streamed down their faces.
Mrs. Adonis murmured, "This... Louis..."
Louis spoke softly, "His name is Joshua."
Mr. Adonis laughed. "It’s a very nice name too." He gently wrapped an arm around his wife and lightly patted her shoulder.
Louis stood up at this point. "You two keep watching. I’ll go get something."
Mr. and Mrs. Adonis had no objections at all, their expressions extremely focused.
"Why does he look thinner again. This show must be deliberately making Joshua lose weight!"
"Exactly. Which idol these days isn’t skinny..."
When Louis returned, he saw his parents chatting animatedly. They had already wiped away their tears, though the corners of their eyes were still clearly red.
In his hands were the appraisal documents. He even felt that he had gone mad, that he was being ridiculous, yet he had still taken strands of hair from his parents and himself to do a DNA test.
Joshua had clearly never appeared in their past, yet he had stubbornly gone ahead with it anyway. He had never once doubted that the test results would be different from what he believed.
Even so, when he received the results, his hands still trembled uncontrollably, shaking so badly that he could barely make out the words.
Only when he saw the blood relationship probability as high as 99.9 percent did he finally know that he had been right.
This matter was strange to the point of being unbelievable, yet he truly was right. And he believed that his parents felt the same way he did.
Their sudden return to Celestia felt like a revelation from the heart. Now was the moment when all the truth would be laid bare.
But before Louis could say anything, Mr. and Mrs. Adonis took advantage of the screen switching to another group to turn and look at him. In a soft voice, Mrs. Adonis said, "Louis, it seems you really do have a younger brother."
Her words were extremely firm, no different from the certainty Louis had shown when he was convinced that Joshua was his younger brother.
Louis paused and said nothing.
Mr. Adonis spoke again. "This really is crazy. You can think your parents have gone mad if you want..."
They truly did not know how to explain this. They had not even given birth to another child, yet when they looked at Joshua, they felt that he was their child. It was as if a huge emptiness in their hearts had suddenly been filled.
At that moment, Louis suddenly spoke up. "I won’t think my parents are crazy, because I think the same way."
As he spoke, he handed the test result documents in his hands to his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Adonis looked at the papers, then at Louis, momentarily at a loss for words.
But what mattered more right now was that Joshua truly shared a blood relationship with them—both of them, not just one.
It was utterly illogical. They swore that they had never given birth to Joshua, yet this...
If Joshua really was their child, then where had they been all those years, leaving Joshua alone like that? That child had grown up without them by his side, all the way until now.
Mrs. Adonis’s hands trembled. "We have to bring him home. Does Joshua know about this yet?"
Louis shook his head. "I only got the test results yesterday." After a brief pause, he added, "Joshua is in the same group as Henry. I’ve already asked Henry to help..."
But they all knew that this matter truly exceeded all expectations. Even with test results in hand, so what? If Joshua had been an orphan since childhood, he would surely resent them for abandoning him. And if Joshua had parents, then this would only make everything even more absurd and unbelievable.
Mr. Adonis held his wife’s hand and nodded. "Let’s calm down first. When the time comes, we’ll talk to him very carefully."
No matter what, they had to meet Joshua in person at least once.
Recently, Joshua had begun to feel that Henry was hiding something from him.
It was hard to read Henry’s emotions, but it was not impossible for Joshua.
First, Joshua’s toothbrush had suddenly disappeared. Henry said he had accidentally dropped it into the trash and could only buy a new one to make it up to Joshua.
For Joshua, that was not a big issue.
But now, Henry had asked him out—just the two of them.
Joshua sat on the bed, tilting his head slightly as he looked at Henry, his gaze intensely focused.
Facing Joshua’s eyes, Henry showed no obvious expression, except that his lips were pressed together ever so slightly.
The last time Henry handed Joshua’s toothbrush to Louis, he had already come back to his senses. He did not even know why he had appeared there with Joshua’s toothbrush in his hand, yet he did not stop himself. He knew that it had to be "that person" surfacing again.
That was right. Henry still had not accepted that he and the person Joshua had known in the past were the same individual. But he knew one thing for certain. They would never harm Joshua. And so, he simply went along with everything.
Today, Louis had asked him to arrange a meeting with Joshua. They already had the test results, and Joshua truly belonged to their family. It was a conclusion beyond imagination, yet Henry accepted this information calmly, as if he had long since anticipated everything.
Right now, the Adonis family was eager to welcome Joshua back. The only thing they truly cared about was probably how Joshua would feel toward them. Henry agreed. He agreed to ask Joshua out. But at this moment, facing Joshua’s focused gaze, Henry felt as though he had already begun to lower his defenses and surrender.
As long as Joshua asked even a single question, Henry was certain he would lose control and reveal everything.
But Joshua suddenly covered his mouth and laughed, like a mischievous little rabbit. His eyes sparkled as he looked at Henry. "Henry, are you asking me out on a date?"
Joshua had just finished showering. His whole body looked soft and relaxed, even his eyes seeming more watery than usual. Saying this now, his gaze hooked onto Henry like a lure, like a fully ripened berry waiting for Henry to pluck it.
Henry’s Adam’s apple bobbed, his voice turning hoarse. "Joshua, do you really think I would never do anything to you?"
