My Idol System: An Idol, But Also A Savior-Chapter 214: Waiting for Love
Henry suddenly received a phone call from his old friend, Louis.
They were the same age, and their families were also on friendly terms, so they could be considered childhood playmates. Their personalities were actually quite similar. If there was any difference, it was only that Louis was a little more lively than Henry, although it was really just a little.
They were not as close as ordinary pairs of friends, but at the very least, they got along fairly well in terms of academics.
However, twelve years ago, the Adonis family suddenly went abroad to develop their business. Now they had returned with the goal of expanding their domestic industries. Henry had already heard about this. The last time they met, they even discussed work matters a bit. Although Louis truly could not understand why Henry had suddenly gone off to become an idol, could this be a case of late-arriving rebelliousness? But did someone like Henry even have a rebellious phase? That was indeed rare.
Even so, Louis did not say much about it. He did not understand, but perhaps it was simply Henry’s hobby. Louis even joked that Henry could collaborate with them if the Adonis family ever wanted to enter the entertainment industry.
From that day on, Louis never asked Henry anything about his idol career. However, today, the moment Henry picked up the phone, the very first sentence that came from the other end was, "Henry, are you and Joshua in the same group?"
Henry could not help but pause for a moment, then nodded. "That’s right. Is something wrong?"
There was a brief silence on the other end of the line. Then Louis’s voice sounded again, carrying a determination that could not be ignored. "Is your group still short of people?"
Henry: "..."
This was the first time Henry had experienced the feeling of not knowing what to say.
Hadn’t Louis previously been completely unable to understand why he became an idol? What was with this sudden statement?
"Our group isn’t short of people. Besides, if you want to get close to Joshua, then give it up," Henry said bluntly.
"Why?" Louis could not help but feel a little curious.
Henry had not yet spoken when Louis continued, "I suspect Joshua is my younger brother, a member of the Adonis family. It’s just that I can’t prove it right now..."
Henry suddenly frowned slightly. A sharp pain stabbed deep into his brain, making his whole body sway involuntarily. The sensation was extremely strange.
He raised one hand to cover his forehead, his eyes squeezed shut.
When he suddenly opened them again, the light in his eyes seemed to have changed.
"Henry, Henry, are you still there?"
On the other end of the line, Louis was still talking nonstop.
Henry did not hesitate at all. "I’ll help you."
Louis had been preparing to explain at length, but he never expected Henry to agree so simply. The words in Louis’s mouth caught in his throat, and in the end he could only offer his thanks.
Henry hung up the phone and went straight back to the room he shared with Joshua. His face was slightly pale, as if blood were steadily being drained away, yet he showed no sign of panic.
Calmly, he placed Joshua’s toothbrush into his bag and murmured softly, "So you’re finally going to meet your family again, Joshua. Are you happy..."
Unfortunately, he could not ask Joshua these questions in person.
He closed his eyes, forcibly suppressing the pain in his head, and quickly left the place.
Joshua had no idea what had happened. Only after his injury had completely healed did he return to their dormitory.
Over the past two days, Elly had also checked on him. Joshua only said that he had suffered a mild allergy.
Nine used his abilities along with fame points to barely fabricate hospital documents, so the matter passed smoothly.
Elly even asked Joshua to list all the things he was allergic to once he returned.
Joshua scratched his nose awkwardly. How could he possibly say that he was only allergic to beer. This incident had merely been an accident caused by his own loss of emotional control.
In any case, everything was fine now. Joshua felt that being able to see his family through a screen was already good enough. Of course, it would be even better if he could meet them in person, but he did not dare to hope for too much. His parents and older brother still did not recognize him, and Joshua was also afraid that he would not be able to restrain himself.
Knowing that Joshua would be returning today, Luther hurried back to the dormitory.
Recently, a minor upheaval had occurred within the family. Several people who had the potential to become heirs had suddenly gone missing. What was more, it kept happening again and again in an extremely strange way. Almost no clues were left behind. The police had exhausted themselves for nearly half a month, yet there was still no information.
At this moment, suspicion was running rampant within the family, and Luther was no exception. Although based on the information they had, the number of people who had mysteriously disappeared during this period was truly countless, such bizarre matters could not be made public. After all, the world they lived in now was one that worshipped science.
Even Luther, despite finding these events strange, only believed that the culprit was simply exceptionally good at covering their tracks. Those conspiracy theories would only throw his mind into chaos.
He rushed toward the elevator in high spirits and happened to see someone inside. He hurriedly called out, "Please hold the door for a moment!"
Joshua instinctively pressed the button to hold the elevator doors. As soon as he lifted his eyes, he saw Luther charging toward him as if flying. Joshua could not help but be startled. Luther was equally surprised. Immediately after, a brilliant smile bloomed on his face. He spread his arms wide and wrapped Joshua in a tight hug.
Joshua felt as if a golden retriever had just pounced on him, and an incredibly heavy one at that.
He almost lost his balance and staggered backward, feeling as though he was about to fall.
But how could Luther let Joshua fall. He held Joshua tightly, almost lifting Joshua’s toes off the ground.
He kept planting kisses on Joshua’s cheek, which eventually turned into nips.
Joshua could not help but smack Luther’s face and push it away. "Are you a dog or what. Put me down!"
Luther laughed cheerfully, still clinging to Joshua and refusing to let go. In the end, he finally released him. Joshua thought that was the end of it, but Luther slipped his hands under Joshua’s arms, suddenly lifted him up, swayed him back and forth, then pulled him close again.
Their faces were so close that the tips of their noses were almost touching. Luther’s eyes sparkled brightly. "I really missed you to death, Joshua. Give me a kiss, just one..."
Clearly, the kiss Luther was talking about right now was not a kiss on the cheek. Joshua pressed his lips together, his eyes lowering slightly, and then... he suddenly jerked his head forward and slammed his forehead straight into Luther’s. The pain was so sharp that Joshua almost teared up, but Luther was not faring any better.
His head snapped back, and he had no choice but to let Joshua down. One hand covered his forehead as he buried his face into Joshua’s shoulder, complaining resentfully, "Joshua, how old are you already?!"
Joshua snorted coldly. "Why don’t you take a look at yourself first."
Hearing that, Luther laughed again, as if the pain from earlier had been nothing more than an act.
He took a step back and lowered his head so they were facing each other.
All Joshua could see was Luther’s shimmering golden hair swaying in front of him. That beautiful face now carried a casual yet confident smile, tinged with a bit of teasing.
"Joshua, help me take a look, will you?" As he spoke, he grabbed Joshua’s hand and gently placed it against his own face.
Luther’s face was truly beautiful. That had been Joshua’s impression from the very first time they met.
Like a princess. Although Joshua now knew that Luther was definitely not a princess, faced with Luther’s overwhelming looks, Joshua was still completely caught off guard.
He instinctively turned his face away.
But Luther laughed. "Your ears are bright red, Joshua. Looks like we already have the answer, don’t we?"
In an instant, not only Joshua’s ears but his entire face flushed red. His fair skin now carried a soft pink hue that was even more captivating. With one look, Luther noticed that Joshua’s eyes, which were usually already moist, now seemed even wetter, as if just a light touch at the corner would make diamond-like tears spill out.
Luther swallowed, his throat turning a little dry. He was clearly the one teasing Joshua, and Joshua had not done anything at all, yet Luther felt as if he were the one being completely ensnared.
What could he do. He loved Joshua so much that he could not restrain himself. When would Joshua finally be willing to love him back?
Feeling a little frustrated, Luther could only rub Joshua’s head, as if taking revenge.
