My husband Can Cultivate-Chapter 52: Where Did the Wild Dog Come From?
Although Gu Tianyang’s grades in high school weren’t great and he only managed to get into a private college, he had landed a secure job. His father was even more impressive—an official in the Kang City Lord Mansion. Because of this, back in high school, the principal had to curry favor with Gu Tianyang. Whenever he caused trouble, the students he bullied were the ones who got scolded.
"Gu Tianyang is the real pride of our class! So what if he went to a private college? Right now, he holds a position in the Heavenly Supervision Hall. You all know about the Heavenly Supervision Hall, right? It’s a department even more powerful than the police, and it’s responsible for overseeing cases nationwide. Even though Gu Tianyang only works in the Kang City branch, that’s still incredibly impressive," Chen Dao boasted, green with envy.
No matter how well Chen Dao or Zhu Benxiu’s company did, they were still small fry in front of Gu Tianyang. Furthermore, Gu Tianyang’s father was the City Lord’s right-hand man. A person like that was absolutely untouchable.
Suddenly, the door to the private room opened. Seeing who it was, Chen Dao and Zhang Haiquan hurriedly scrambled to greet him. A flock of flamboyantly dressed women also fluttered over.
Gu Tianyang had arrived.
He strode in, dressed from head to toe in designer brands. The entire outfit was probably worth over a million. The watch on his wrist, in particular, was clearly a Swiss-made masterpiece worth at least 500,000 to 600,000. He was the very picture of extravagance.
Gu Tianyang had also brought a woman with him.
If Yang Qi remembered correctly, she was a well-known local internet celebrity in Kang City. She wasn’t as pretty as she appeared online, but she was still quite stunning—just a slight step down from Zhang Meixi.
"Mr. Gu, I was so worried you wouldn’t make it! We’re all thrilled to see you!" Chen Dao groveled, sidling up to Gu Tianyang like a fawning dog, nodding and bowing. All his earlier arrogance had vanished.
"Mm. Chen Dao, you’re doing quite well for yourself. I met your boss a few days ago," Gu Tianyang said indifferently. "I’ll get you two together for a drink sometime."
"Thank you for the opportunity, Mr. Gu! I am yours to command!" Chen Dao was ecstatic. If he could improve his relationship with the boss, his position in the company would be even more secure.
"And this must be the famous influencer, Xuanxuan, right?" Chen Dao said with a grin, looking at the woman beside Gu Tianyang. "Mr. Gu, you’re truly impressive. Xuanxuan has tens of millions of fans and is known as the most beautiful internet celebrity in Kang City. And you actually managed to get her."
"We’re just friends," Gu Tianyang said with a smile. How could he possibly like an internet celebrity? To him, she was just a toy.
Xuanxuan, however, was incredibly smug. Bathed in the envious and admiring gazes of the crowd, her arrogance swelled.
"Mr. Gu, Zhang Haiquan pays his respects!" Zhang Haiquan dropped directly to his knees like a servant from the Qing Dynasty.
"Heh, you came too?" Gu Tianyang glanced down at him coldly.
"Mr. Gu, I was an ignorant fool in high school for hitting you. It was my fault. Punish me however you see fit," Zhang Haiquan mumbled from the floor.
"Then slap yourself a few times and kowtow," Gu Tianyang said, clearly enjoying the spectacle.
"No problem!" Zhang Haiquan immediately began slapping his own face and kowtowing repeatedly.
"Hm, a decent performance. Get up," Gu Tianyang said, stepping directly on Zhang Haiquan’s back as he walked past.
"Thank you, Mr. Gu, for your mercy! Zhang Haiquan will never forget it! By the way, Mr. Gu, do you need someone to pour your tea and fetch your water? I can do anything," Zhang Haiquan said, remaining on his knees.
"I need a dog. You up for it?" Gu Tianyang sneered.
"WOOF, WOOF, WOOF," Zhang Haiquan actually started barking like a dog. To him, even being Gu Tianyang’s dog was a stroke of luck.
"It wouldn’t be your turn to be the dog anyway. Let me do it!" Chen Dao chimed in, trying to curry favor.
"Mr. Gu, when can we have a drink together?" a few of the girls cooed, batting their eyelashes at him.
Watching this scene, Zhang Meixi felt utterly disgusted. This level of bootlicking was sickening. Did these people have no dignity at all?
"Where’s Yang Qi?" Gu Tianyang suddenly asked. "Didn’t that kid come?"
"He’s here, just sitting over there," Chen Dao said, pointing. "He’s bankrupt now, a total nobody. He’s probably hoping you’ll give him a chance, Mr. Gu."
"Yang Qi, are you deaf?!" Zhang Haiquan roared. "Mr. Gu is talking to you! Get on your feet! Are you looking down on Mr. Gu?"
Gu Tianyang looked at Yang Qi with a cold sneer. "It’s perfectly normal for him to look down on me. The most outstanding young entrepreneur in Kang City. A scientist! Garlanded with so many titles. And a graduate of a prestigious university, no less. What am I? Just a graduate from a private college. How could I possibly compare?" The sarcasm was practically dripping from his words.
Zhang Haiquan yelled at Yang Qi again, "Are your ears stuffed with cotton, kid? Didn’t you hear me tell you to stand up? Get on your knees and kowtow to Mr. Gu. If you’re lucky and he’s in a good mood, he might give you a job. Don’t forget, his father is the City Lord’s favorite!"
Yang Qi still paid them no mind, continuing to leisurely eat his pastries and sip his tea, completely unbothered.
Even Zhang Meixi and Zhu Benxiu had stood up, terrified. They both knew that Gu Tianyang was not someone to be provoked.
Zhang Meixi tugged at Yang Qi’s sleeve. "Hurry up and stand," she whispered.
She knew Yang Qi had money again and had started a new company. But even so, he couldn’t afford to oppose Gu Tianyang. Otherwise, the tragedy of bankruptcy would surely repeat itself. Gu Tianyang himself was a member of the Heavenly Supervision Hall, and his father wielded real power. Even the old Yang Qi couldn’t compare to Gu Tianyang, let alone the current one.
"Yang Qi, are you trying to get yourself killed? Stand up now!"
"Are you really going to disrespect Mr. Gu like this?"
Chen Dao and Zhang Haiquan were furious. As dogs, they were certainly loyal, ready to bite whoever their master wanted to humiliate.
"Yang Qi! Don’t be reckless!" Zhu Benxiu pleaded anxiously.
Gu Tianyang’s expression darkened. That brat Yang Qi had never shown him any respect, and it seemed nothing had changed. He was clearly bankrupt, yet he still acted so arrogantly. It was especially infuriating to see how well Zhu Benxiu and Zhang Meixi got along with Yang Qi—something he himself had never achieved. His hatred for Yang Qi was deeply tied to those two women. Years ago, he had almost forced himself on Zhang Meixi, but Yang Qi had given him a savage beating and driven him off. As for Zhu Benxiu, he had helped a friend deliberately target her family’s company. It was on the verge of collapse when Yang Qi suddenly stepped in and foiled the entire plan. How could he not be furious? And now, today, Yang Qi was disrespecting him completely.
"Where did all these stray dogs come from? Can’t a man eat his meal in peace?" Yang Qi finally spoke.
His words sent a shockwave through the room.
My God. How dare he speak to Gu Tianyang like that? He was truly seeking death. No one could save him now.
