My Five Bigshot Seniors: I am The Most Coddled Junior!-Chapter 362 - 42: Catching Fish [First Update]
Lou Mingyu shook his head, indicating that he hadn’t arrived very early.
"Brother Lou, let me introduce you. This is my senior brother from the Sub-immortal Realm, Si Lin, and my second senior brother, Yue Zhao," Gu Qingqing, acting as the bridge between the two sides, introduced Lou Mingyu to Si Lin and them, "Senior Brother, Second Senior Brother, this is my current senior brother, Lou Mingyu. Brother Lou is very formidable, already possessing cultivation at the Golden Immortal Realm."
In fact, Lou Mingyu had already noticed Si Lin. He also used a sword, and although Si Lin’s cultivation wasn’t as strong, his Sword Intent was not weaker and fully captured Lou Mingyu’s attention. Lou Mingyu found it hard not to notice.
Both Si Lin and Lou Mingyu are rather indifferent people. They exchanged glances, nodded slightly, which was considered a greeting, while Yue Zhao smiled at Lou Mingyu and also nodded.
"Let’s go in." Lou Mingyu’s gaze fell on Gu Qingqing, and he said calmly.
Gu Qingqing nodded, and the group entered Tianqi Forest together.
After entering Tianqi Forest, Lou Mingyu glanced at Si Lin, lightly tapped his toes, and disappeared, leaving Gu Qingqing and the others behind. This was what they had agreed upon; Lou Mingyu would only accompany them and wouldn’t appear unless they encountered an unsolvable problem.
Just like yesterday, when encountering spirit beasts below the Heavenly Immortal Realm, Gu Qingqing and the others took turns to battle. After all, they came looking for opportunities to break through, and couldn’t just stand aside watching.
At this moment, they encountered a Cloud Splitting Leopard at the middle stage of the Heavenly Immortal Realm, and it was Gu Qingqing’s turn to fight. Under her control, the Mixed Immortal Silk flew around, attacking the Cloud Splitting Leopard from different angles, leaving wounds of varying depths on it. Before long, the Cloud Splitting Leopard was covered in blood, its aura significantly weakening.
With a flick of her hand, the Mixed Immortal Silk pierced through the Cloud Splitting Leopard’s body. The leopard struggled a few times on the ground, then fell with a crash, completely losing its breath.
She extended her hand, and the Mixed Immortal Silk returned to her, without a drop of blood on it.
"Senior Brother, how far is it to the place where you caught the Silver Thread Fish?" Gu Qingqing collected the Cloud Splitting Leopard’s body and turned to ask Si Lin.
"Just another mile west," Si Lin thought for a moment, then replied.
"Alright, let’s hurry over," Gu Qingqing’s eyes lit up, and she said eagerly.
The others naturally had no objections. They all followed in the footsteps of Gu Qingqing and Si Lin, rushing towards the place Si Lin mentioned.
...
The Silver Thread Fish grew in a lake within Tianqi Forest. The lake wasn’t very large, but it was deep, and contained numerous Silver Thread Fish. However, they were quite cunning, making them difficult to catch. Moreover, Silver Thread Fish were classified into levels, with different levels offering varying meat quality and purity of contained immortal power.
At that moment, there were quite a few people by the lakeside aiming to catch Silver Thread Fish. Yet up till now, no one had succeeded. Besides the Silver Thread Fish, there was also a kind of Cannibal Fish in the lake. These fish, although small, had incredibly tough teeth and were carnivorous. Human flesh had a unique attraction to them, making it impossible for people to enter the water, which was another reason why the Silver Thread Fish were hard to catch.
When Gu Qingqing and her group arrived, some had already given up and left. Their arrival drew some attention, primarily because of their striking appearances. They seemed like noble young masters, looking somewhat out of place in such a setting.
"Mr. Si."
A delighted voice suddenly rang out, drawing the attention of Gu Qingqing and her group towards its source.
They saw a woman dressed in a bright red, round-collared riding outfit, her hair tied up in a high ponytail, quickly approaching Si Lin and the others with delight.
Both Si Lin and Yue Zhao clearly knew the woman. Si Lin frowned slightly and turned his gaze away, while Yue Zhao glanced at Si Lin with a slightly meaningful smile.
"Mr. Si, long time no see. I didn’t expect to meet you here. Are you also here to catch Silver Thread Fish?" The woman’s personality was hearty, and she was naturally familiar. Upon approaching, she ignored the others and greeted only Si Lin.
But Si Lin didn’t have a good impression of the woman and walked straight to the lakeside, seemingly not wanting to speak with her.
The woman’s smile faltered for a second before she toned it down, pretending to have just noticed Yue Zhao and greeted him, "Young Master Yue, long time no see."
"Miss Lan," Yue Zhao responded with a perfect smile, nodding to the woman in greeting.
Lan Linlin didn’t mind that Yue Zhao’s attitude towards her was lukewarm, as she knew it was just his personality. Besides, she wasn’t really concerned with how Yue Zhao behaved towards her; she cared more about Si Lin’s attitude.
"Mr. Si, do you also like Silver Thread Fish? They’re hard to catch, we’ve been at it for a whole hour, and only caught one," she went straight to Si Lin’s side and said gently.
Si Lin glanced at her indifferently, then looked away, with no desire to speak to her at all.
Seeing Si Lin like this, Lan Linlin felt a sense of hopeful grievance. Ever since she first laid eyes on Si Lin, she had liked him. In her heart, no other men in Tianqi City could compare to a single hair of Si Lin’s.
Si Lin was always cold towards others. Except for when he was with Yue Zhao, he never showed any emotions. Lan Linlin didn’t mind at all. She even had the thought of making Si Lin fall in love with her, letting his gentleness bloom for her alone.
Unfortunately, Si Lin spent most of his time in Tianqi Forest, or in the courtyard he shared with Yue Zhao, hardly ever going out. She couldn’t find any opportunities to approach him, so their relationship remained at just acquaintance level.
Moreover, it was a one-sided acquaintance. Si Lin never spoke to her, but this didn’t dampen her enthusiasm. Instead, it made her more determined, wanting even more to win Si Lin’s love.
"Mr. Si, why aren’t you talking? Do you dislike me?" She looked at Si Lin with red eyes, as if seeing a heartbreaker.
"Miss Lan, I’ve said it before, I don’t like you. We are impossible. Please stop pestering me!" Si Lin didn’t like being pestered. In the Sub-immortal Realm, his status was high, and women didn’t dare go overboard; it was easier to dismiss them. But in the Immortal Realm, he hadn’t reached that level yet, so he had to make it clear to Lan Linlin himself.
"We haven’t even been together, how could you know it’s impossible? Mr. Si, I like you, I won’t give up on you!" Lan Linlin said stubbornly, looking at Si Lin.
"Then let me be clear too: if you insist on pestering me, don’t blame me for being rude!" Si Lin’s face turned cold, very dissatisfied with Lan Linlin’s persistence!
Hearing this, Lan Linlin’s face turned pale, especially when she saw Si Lin’s indifferent gaze, devoid of affection, instead filled with aversion, as if looking at something detestable, making her expression even worse.
Seeing Lan Linlin remain silent, Si Lin walked past her directly towards Gu Qingqing.
"Qingqing, do you want to catch the fish yourself, or should I help you?" Si Lin’s usual coldness disappeared entirely when facing Gu Qingqing, his tone gentle, completely different from when he was with Lan Linlin.
Gu Qingqing was happily on the sidelines as a bystander, unexpectedly having Si Lin approach her. Turning to him, she noticed Lan Linlin’s eyes filled with hostility. She then looked back at Si Lin, "I’ve heard Silver Thread Fish are hard to catch, Senior Brother, I’d like to try first."
To Gu Qingqing, Lan Linlin was just a stranger, while Si Lin was a senior brother who had pampered her since childhood. Si Lin clearly expressed his disinterest in Lan Linlin, so Gu Qingqing needn’t care about Lan Linlin’s attitude at all, simply ignoring her.
"Alright, let me teach you." Si Lin nodded, personally explaining to Gu Qingqing how to catch Silver Thread Fish more easily.
Lan Linlin stood nearby, witnessing the always cold Si Lin gently teaching Gu Qingqing how to catch Silver Thread Fish, without a hint of impatience, and looking at her with a doting gaze.
"It doesn’t sound that hard," Gu Qingqing said after listening to Si Lin’s explanation. It seemed doable to her, so she turned to Jun Wu, "Ah Wu, let’s catch Silver Thread Fish together and see who gets more in half an hour. The winner gets a reward."
"Oh?" Jun Wu had been watching Gu Qingqing, and hearing her challenge piqued his interest, a glint passing through his eyes, "What’s the reward?"
"If you win, I’ll agree to one thing you ask. If I win, you agree to one thing I ask, how about that?" Gu Qingqing declared confidently.
"Anything?" Jun Wu thought of many possibilities but decided it was best to confirm with Gu Qingqing first.
"Of course, nothing bad." Gu Qingqing replied without hesitation.
"Rest assured, it won’t be anything bad." Jun Wu gave Gu Qingqing a meaningful smile, "Then let’s begin, let Senior Brother be the judge."
"Sure." Gu Qingqing hadn’t pondered over the meaning of Jun Wu’s smile as she was quickly distracted, following him to the lakeside.
Seeing their enthusiasm, Nan Hua and the others exchanged glances, quietly standing aside, ready to watch the show unfold.
Si Lin moved to the lakeside, took out an hourglass, set it in place, and signaled for the competition to start. Gu Qingqing and Jun Wu began catching Silver Thread Fish using the method Si Lin had just explained.
Lan Linlin stood on the side, ignored by everyone, with Si Lin not even sparing her a glance. Nan Hua and the others hadn’t paid attention to her from the start, and continued ignoring her, leaving Lan Linlin standing awkwardly.
Gu Qingqing had quite the luck, catching a Silver Thread Fish within less than a quarter of an hour. After securing it, she proudly looked at Jun Wu.
