Zhou Li fried an egg for himself and cooked a pack of spicy turkey noodles, extra hot, for breakfast.

As a person from Yi Province, a brand-new day starts with a blast of spice.

After breakfast, he washed his bowl. There was still no movement from the bedroom.

Zhou Li walked to the bathroom and looked at himself in the mirror.

The faint dark circles from when he woke up had almost vanished, and the bloodshot in his eyes was gone, leaving him looking energized.

He nodded with satisfaction, returned to the living room, picked out a book, and nestled into the sofa to read quietly until it was nearly noon.

Zhou Li quietly opened the bedroom door and peered inside.

The curtains were drawn, and the room was well-lit. Brother Nan was asleep, covered head to toe with a blanket, not moving an inch.

Tuanzi, however, had already awakened. She had taken the form of a Little Cat Girl and was sitting on the bed, looking out the window. What Zhou Li saw was her small, adorable back. She sat in a lazy, natural pose, with a tiny pink foot peeking out on either side of her bottom, somewhat like a duckling's posture but not quite.

Hearing the noise, Tuanzi turned her head. Her delicate face had a pair of large, sparkling eyes, unlike human eyes, which she had just been using to stare outside.

"MEOW? Zhou Ni."

"Why didn't Lord Dumpling come out after waking up?" Zhou Li asked quietly.

"Lord Dumpling is waiting here for Your Highness," Tuanzi whispered back very softly.

"Your Highness might not come again until the evening... at the earliest, not until the afternoon," Zhou Li replied. "I'll call for Lord Dumpling then."

"Really MEOW?"

"Zhou Li doesn't lie."

"Oh..."

As Tuanzi muttered to herself, "Lord Dumpling is as well," she turned and crawled towards him. It was clear she didn't want to wake Brother Nan, but crawling over Brother Nan's legs wasn't something a little kitten could control.

And so, Brother Nan began to show signs of waking.

Climbing off the bed, the Little Cat Girl, barefoot, walked up to Zhou Li, pulled at his clothes, and looked up at him, "Zhou Ni..."

"Hmm?"

"Why, MEOW, would Your Highness stay on Brother Lan?"

"EMMM..."

This question indeed stumped Zhou Li; the difficulty lay in how to explain it to this silly little cat.

If he answered normally, he would undoubtedly have to say a lot, and then Tuanzi would stare at him with her big eyes, puzzled. But if he asked her if she understood, she would nod. It seemed quite pointless for her to listen to so much if she wasn't going to understand. It was truly a waste of effort.

So after a short thought, Zhou Li said, "Maybe she thinks it's fun?"

"So that's why!"

"..."

Zhou Li gently crouched down, put his arms around her small form, picked her up, and said helplessly, "I've told Lord Dumpling so many fables; how come you haven't become smarter?"

"Lord Dumpling is the smartest!"

"Yes. Is Lord Dumpling going to have breakfast?"

"Yes, I want to eat."

"Then how about I cook turkey noodles for Lord Dumpling for breakfast? Well, it's already lunchtime."

"That's too spicy. Lord Dumpling wants fish soup with rice."

"We don't have fish soup at home."

"HMM..." Tuanzi thought for a moment, then crisply declared, "Then Lord Dumpling wants to eat roasted elephant!"

"Okay, I'll order you some fish soup."

"Okay MEOW!"

A sly look flickered in Tuanzi's eyes as he held her.

「About half an hour later.」

Brother Nan awoke.

She immediately saw Tuanzi standing on the coffee table, heartily eating fish soup with rice, making smacking sounds and occasionally huffing softly. Zhou Li sat beside her reading a book, unusually studious, as usually at this time, he would be watching Tuanzi eat with a fascinated expression.

"Morning!" she greeted.

Zhou Li immediately put down his book when he heard her. "It's noon. Are you hungry? What do you want to eat?"

Tuanzi also lifted her head, a grain of rice still clinging to her mouth, "Morning, Brother Lan!"

"Have you eaten?" Brother Nan asked Zhou Li.

"I had turkey noodles this morning," he replied.

"I'm eating MEOW!" Tuanzi chimed in.

"Then just order some takeout," Brother Nan said.

After saying this, Brother Nan went into the bathroom to brush her teeth and wash her face. Then, she dried her face with a towel. Looking at herself in the mirror, she also pinched and straightened out a stray strand of hair.

She stood still, continuing to stare at her reflection.

Given her personality, she could naturally accept almost any outrageous thing. However, when she calmed down to reflect on it, there was still a sense of strangeness.

"HEH..."

Brother Nan cracked a smile, raising her hand. "Hello."

She walked out of the bathroom.

Zhou Li told her he'd already ordered takeout: a grilled fish and two pounds of crawfish. Her first thought was that it was too little, but then she remembered why.

"Where's Huai Xu?"

"He left."

"Where did he go?"

"Don't know," Zhou Li shook his head. "He was teasing me this morning, but I managed to tease him back until he ran off."

"Oh."

Without Huai Xu, that amount of food was enough.

The takeout arrived quickly.

Through her explorations yesterday and early this morning, Brother Nan had grasped a few things. For instance, she could now distinctly feel another consciousness within her, like a ghost hiding in the shadows, observing the world through her eyes.

She tried to ignore her and eat normally.

「After the meal.」

Zhou Li went back to reading his book.

Brother Nan, meanwhile, went to the balcony. She lightly ran her finger over the surface of the coffee table, then lifted it to look; her fingertip was still clean. It seemed Zhou Li and Huai Xu were doing quite well with hygiene.

She sat down, spread a piece of paper on the coffee table, picked up a fountain pen, and placed her phone beside her to help with Traditional Chinese characters. Then, under the intense afternoon sunlight, she bent over and began to write:

"Fine.

"But you have to report to me in advance what you're going to do. You can't do anything I wouldn't like.

"I have a few questions for you: How long can you appear each time? Will this duration change in the future? Are you currently a Demon or a human? What exactly is our relationship now? How will you teach me spells? How long do you plan to stay in my body? Apart from giving birth, how else can you leave? Answer the last three questions in more detail."

After writing, Brother Nan picked it up and gave it a careful look—

Damn, my handwriting really has character!

Suddenly, she noticed she had several messages on WeChat and casually clicked to open them.

Mianmian: Brother Nan, I bought you some nourishing supplements for Yin and beauty. I sent them to Zhou Li's place, remember to collect it (adorable).

Mianmian: SF Express: SF****

...

Qian Qian: Brother Nan, Brother Nan, the sun has been so intense recently! I bought you two of those super light, thin umbrellas. Remember to take an umbrella when you go out (emoji).

Qian Qian: SF Express: SF****

Several lines of frustration appeared on Brother Nan's forehead.

「It was already Tuesday.」

「Wednesday morning.」

Brother Nan unwrapped the kraft paper, looked at the beautiful calligraphy, and struggled to read:

"I will answer your questions in order.

"Currently, about half a shichen each day, which is also influenced by you. If you don't feel resistant, the duration will gradually increase. If you start to resist, it might decrease.

"To be precise, I am a segment of memory. However, since your body was transformed from my original one, I can be brought to life through your body and brain. So, whether I am a Demon or human actually depends on you. I myself am more akin to the human concept of a soul.

"In one sense, I am you, and you are me. But from another perspective, you are you, and I am I. We have an indescribable relationship, yet we are distinct.

"Leveraging the answer to the previous question, I can directly transmit some of my knowledge and experience regarding the use of Spiritual Power to you. As long as you don't resist, the chances of success are high. This is much faster than you learning through someone else's teaching or your own exploration.

"I will temporarily leave your residence tomorrow night to issue commands to a few Great Demons, instructing them to begin searching for methods to create a physical body for me and a way to transfer myself into it. This actually answers two of your questions.

"You don't need to write to communicate with me.

"Whenever you are awake, I am certainly awake, and I cannot close my eyes on my own. Everything you see, I see; everything you hear, I hear. Therefore, you only need to talk to yourself to converse with me, and I will surely hear it.

"Lastly, you are still looking for ways to seal me away!"

Brother Nan read it three times, making sure she hadn't misread or misunderstood anything. Then, she muttered to herself, "Remember to use punctuation when you write letters next time, like I do.

"Having a sword and choosing not to use it is a completely different thing from having no sword to use.

"..."

Then she started feeling smug. If what Elm King said was true, learning spells would be as simple as learning skills in a game!

Way faster than Zhou Li!

"SIGH..."

Brother Nan let out a sigh.

Being the Child of Destiny is truly as lonely as snow.

She had almost blurted this out loud subconsciously. However, upon realizing there was a soul from a past life peeking from within her body, like a playful spirit, she had instead kept the lament to her thoughts.
