My College Teacher is My Children's Mom-Chapter 674: The Eccentric Classmate
At that moment, Erbao’s assistant came over and respectfully poured Lin Feng a glass of water. Lin Feng stood up. "I might as well go check on Erbao," he decided.
Erbao had also started with just a small studio, but now that she had more people, it had been divided into several departments.
Erbao was at a workbench, talking to one of her designers. The once quiet and gentle girl now possessed a bold, striking beauty. It was reflected in the designs she was working on, which showed a style vastly different from before.
Through the display window, they saw Erbao and the others.
Erbao said coolly, "Do as I said. You can all go now."
Erbao was holding Xiaobao. Lin Feng, following behind them, naturally took the little girl into his arms.
"What’s wrong? Still unhappy?"
Xiaobao shook her head. "No... When will my toy be fixed?"
Erbao thought for a moment. "In about three days."
Xiaobao said, "Oh."
Erbao added, "How about Big Sis tries to do it as fast as possible?"
At that, Xiaobao finally smiled. "Thanks, Big Sis! You’re the best!"
「After sorting things out with Xiaobao.」
Lin Feng drove, and the group headed back home.
Sanbao had been quite busy these days, leaving early and returning late without asking the family for help.
When Erbao had free time, she would supervise Xiaobao’s homework. Feeling completely fried from the effort, she dashed into the kitchen. "Dad, Xiaobao is a little slow."
Lin Feng sighed. "Don’t say that in front of Xiaobao, or she’ll get upset with you."
Erbao replied, "I know, Dad. As if I would dare say that to her face." As she turned around, she saw Xiaobao blinking her big eyes at her.
"Say what?"
Erbao gave an awkward smile, unsure if Xiaobao had overheard. Feeling like a thief caught red-handed, she said, "Nothing, nothing! Come on, let’s get back to our homework."
Xiaobao cocked her head and asked, "Big Sis, am I really slow?"
Erbao quickly reassured her, "Not at all, you’re so smart."
Xiaobao pointed out, "But that’s not what your face is saying. I know my older brother and sister are very smart, and I’m a bit slower!"
Anyone else with such outstanding siblings might have been somewhat affected. But Xiaobao wasn’t an ordinary child. She was very optimistic, much like Si Bao in that regard.
She looked up and said, "It’s okay! I’ll get smarter in the future!"
Erbao cupped the little girl’s face. "Haha, you’re already very smart! Did you know about your older brother, Da Bao? His handwriting used to be really, really ugly.
"But after he practiced hard, his handwriting is now the best among all of us.
"When you run into trouble, don’t be scared. We just have to work hard to overcome it! Besides, what’s wrong with being a little slow? We’re cute!"
It was a strange point to make, but Xiaobao loved this kind of comfort. "That’s right! I’m super cute!"
The people around her were constantly singing her praises in creative ways, making Xiaobao extremely self-confident and convinced she was, in fact, super cute.
Because of the last incident, the teacher had rearranged the seating. Xiaobao’s new deskmate was a little girl who had just transferred to the school. Xiaobao had a reputation in class for being fierce and having a strong temper. However, being her friend came with perks, like getting to play with lots of toys at her house. It was just how kids were; their conflicts were often fleeting. Boys would get over things in a moment, but girls could hold a grudge. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
After Zhang Yuxi found out about this and saw Xiaobao was unaffected, she finally felt relieved.
That evening, after hearing from her husband that the seating had been changed and the boy had been moved to another group, she propped her chin in her hands. "Sigh, raising kids these days is so difficult."
In the mirror, she looked as young and beautiful as ever, showing no hint that her children had already graduated from college and started working.
"Do you remember us ever having this much trouble raising our kids? They were all quite obedient, but children these days are so unruly."
Hearing his wife’s lament, Lin Feng smiled and asked, "What’s wrong? Did you run into some trouble?"
Having been married for so many years, he knew Zhang Yuxi had worked her way up from a teacher to her current position as principal based on pure merit. Those who had initially doubted her because of her looks had long since fallen silent. But over time, Zhang Yuxi had gradually stopped telling her husband about things that happened at school.
What have I really contributed to this family besides giving birth to a few children? she thought. Lin Feng handled everything at home, big and small. Taking care of the little rascal Xiaobao now must be exhausting for him. She didn’t want to burden him with her troubles from school and make him worry.
But since the topic had come up, she mentioned it in passing. "Well, the semester just started not too long ago, so we conducted a dorm inspection and confiscated all the high-power appliances."
"And then there were those keeping small animals... Just thinking about it gives me a headache..."
Lin Feng put an arm around her. "It’s okay. Take your time and tell me all about it."
Zhang Yuxi felt a need to get it all off her chest. "Honey, the high-power appliances are one thing. It’s no longer surprising to find microwaves and rice cookers."
Lin Feng nodded along, comforting his wife. "That’s pretty normal. Back when we were in school, lots of students used electric kettles to boil eggs or make instant noodles. We’ve all been through that stage, so we should be understanding."
Zhang Yuxi took a deep breath. "Right, I understand that. But the problem is them keeping small animals! Can you believe it? Someone was raising a crocodile, and others were keeping snakes."
Lin Feng let out a sound of surprise. "Ah! I saw a news report before about a student keeping a crocodile in his dorm. I can’t believe it’s happening at your school too."
"Are those the kinds of snakes people keep as pets?"
Zhang Yuxi’s expression turned grim. "The crocodile was just a hatchling. I have no idea how they got it, but I’ve already had the proper authorities come and handle it."
"Pet snakes? Heh, that would have been one thing. But this person was keeping a banded krait! Supposedly its venom glands were removed, but it’s still a krait!"
Lin Feng’s breath caught in his throat. Damn, what was that kid thinking? Keeping a krait in a dorm is incredibly dangerous!
Zhang Yuxi began to explain how it all came to light. "I had the dorms inspected before. Right after the semester started, the kids were all well-behaved.
"After a month, they started showing their true colors. I decided to wait and spring a surprise inspection one day while they were in class.
"This guy with the krait—his snake went missing! Can you believe it? It was gone for three days before he finally told the dorm matron!
"We spent the next full day searching the boys’ dormitory. I had to call in a lot of people to help, and we finally found it in the pipes!"
Just talking about it gave Zhang Yuxi a headache. "The news is already out. I don’t even want to talk about it anymore."
Lin Feng didn’t watch the news much these days. He preferred to read novels, watch videos, or watch cartoons with his daughter. He held his wife, cursing the student under his breath. "What about his roommates?"
Zhang Yuxi sighed. "None of them have come back. It’s such a headache."
Lin Feng had her sit comfortably and then gave her a head massage, lulling her into a drowsy sleep.
After Zhang Yuxi fell asleep, Lin Feng checked the local news. Holy cow, the incident was trending. And sure enough, a bunch of clever netizens had started digging, causing Si Bao and his friends to surface online once again. This time, however, the focus was on the student who kept the krait...
There were plenty of bizarre students every year, but this one currently held the top spot for the year so far.
Of course, Si Bao and his friends saw the news too. What young people don’t use VB these days?
Lin Feng sent a reminder in their group chat not to bring up the incident, as Zhang Yuxi was already getting a massive headache from it.
