Chapter 606: Chapter 606: Here’s 2 Billion to Start Your Business

During the first semester of her senior year of high school, Er Bao received invitations from several prestigious universities, including her top choice. This meant Er Bao didn’t need to take the college entrance exam, and she was already eager to visit the campus. Her family was overjoyed for her when they heard the news, and her teachers and classmates were no exception.

That Saturday afternoon, her teacher treated Er Bao’s entire class to a meal to celebrate her admission to the university of her dreams. They had fun until past eleven at night. When the teacher saw how late it was, he suggested it was time to go home. After a few reminders, everyone finally said their goodbyes.

When Er Bao got home, Lin Feng had been waiting for a long time and had even been considering whether he should go pick her up.

"You’re back? Did you have fun?"

"It was great!"

Er Bao’s face was flushed. She had been so busy lately that she hadn’t had time for a haircut, so she’d let it grow out for convenience.

She looks so quiet and pretty... Lin Feng thought. But just then, he saw Er Bao flop onto the sofa. The way she sprawled out... So much for quiet!

"Go wash up and get to bed. Good night!"

"Good night, Dad!"

As he left, Lin Feng added worriedly, "Don’t fall asleep in the living room. It’s cold, and you’ll catch a cold."

"I know, Dad," Er Bao replied lazily. "I’ll just rest for five minutes, then I’ll go up."

「In the blink of an eye, the first semester of her senior year was over.」

While her classmates were still attending cram schools and studying furiously for the college entrance exam, hoping to get into their dream universities, Er Bao was busy organizing her own work: livestreaming.

Once that was sorted, Er Bao went to register for university. They could have done it either before or after the Chinese New Year, but after a family discussion, Lin Feng decided to do it beforehand. The main reason was so they could also pick up Da Bao, San Bao, and Si Bao and bring them all home.

Enrolling Er Bao was a familiar process for Lin Feng. He only needed to sign his name; he didn’t have to pay a single cent of the tuition. Er Bao was a small-time boss now and had earned plenty of money. She could easily afford her own tuition.

Ultimately, Er Bao chose an off-campus dormitory with facilities comparable to a five-star hotel. It had private rooms, which was fantastic, because aside from her studies, Er Bao had her own business to attend to.

Back in her senior year, even before receiving the invitation from Sifu University, she had already planned to start a business as a purchasing agent, run through a website. Now the website was designed, and the next step was for her to secure suppliers. Once the time was right and all preparations were complete, she could launch.

She had planned this venture with Da Bao and San Bao. The sourcing of domestic goods needed to be investigated and finalized around the Chinese New Year. If all went well, the business would officially launch after the holiday.

Lin Feng gave his children two billion yuan to start their business, telling them not to worry about future funding if they needed more. To say the children were surprised would be an understatement; they never expected Lin Feng to support them with two billion yuan. Hmm, so the family is pretty rich...

Da Bao loved physics and chemistry, San Bao loved music, and Si Bao loved sports. Er Bao had a passion for design and was now also developing a taste for making money—a taste that was growing stronger by the day.

After enrolling, Er Bao began to research suppliers. She knew that Rome wasn’t built in a day, so she wasn’t in a hurry.

Da Bao and San Bao were both prominent figures at their schools, which were full of scions from powerful and wealthy families. Many were willing to help and even wanted to invest, but the siblings turned them all down. It was simpler to keep things within the family. The other siblings weren’t concerned with how much money they made; they left the profit-sharing decisions up to Er Bao. Bringing outsiders into the mix would only complicate things and could potentially strain their relationship.

Er Bao figured that once the business grew bigger and stronger, it would naturally attract investors anyway. There was no need to rush to find shareholders now.

And so, the children were brought home one by one. The four siblings immediately dove into meetings and preparations, staying busy right up until the Chinese New Year. They only got a few days of rest during the holiday itself to celebrate with everyone.

This year also brought good news: Xiao Ya was pregnant. The happiest of all were Lin Dashan and his wife. The family was welcoming a new member!

"Do you prefer a daughter or a son?" Lin Rui asked with a smile.

Lin Jie couldn’t hide his joy. "I’d love either a son or a daughter. We’re planning on having two anyway, and we definitely want a daughter."

Lin Rui clicked his tongue. "The men in our Lin Family seldom have daughters. It’s all up to you now."

He had barely finished speaking when Du Yan, who was beside him, gave him a discreet nudge. After all, Lin Feng wasn’t technically part of the Lin family.

Lin Rui quickly corrected himself, "Oh, and I forgot about our Director Lin! But he doesn’t really count. He’s on another level, not someone we ordinary men can compare to."

Pointing at Lin Feng’s handsome face, he said with envy, "Look at your brother! After all these years, he’s still so young and handsome. Give the rest of us a break, will you?"

Du Yan, his wife, chimed in, "Exactly! And Yu Xi is the same. I wonder what skincare she uses. She hasn’t changed a bit!"

This topic struck a chord with everyone.

Lin Jiajun lowered his head. "Look at me," he lamented. "I’m already going bald, aren’t I? And look at all this white hair."

Xiao Ya also laughed. "Lin Jie’s hairline has receded quite a bit. He’ll probably be bald soon, too..."

As men, they were truly envious of Lin Feng’s enduring youth. Time waits for no one, and looking at the younger generation now, all they could do was sigh with resignation. They felt that their strength was failing them; they simply couldn’t compare to how they were in their prime.

Lin Rui sighed. "All I’m left with now are the three highs!"

He was indeed getting fatter and was starting to resemble the affable Lin Dahu from his younger days, no longer possessing the same fierce energy. "This year, I’m considering shaving my head," he added. "Out of sight, out of mind!"

Eventually, the conversation drifted back to the children. When they started talking about the quadruplets, everyone was filled with emotional sighs of admiration.

Truly, they were the very definition of "other people’s kids"—so successful it was impossible not to be envious.

Lin Rui’s two children had also entered the workforce. One took over the family business while the other became a civil servant, so both were doing well. "I don’t ask for much," Lin Rui said. "As long as they have a useful skill, are responsible, and are good to their parents, that’s enough for me."

Yu Zheng’s son, Chuan Chuan, had also found a job as a manager in a factory, earning twenty thousand a month. Outside of the quadruplets, he was the most successful of the younger generation so far.

Lin Jiajun sighed. His eldest had just graduated from university and was getting ready to come back and help with the family business. His younger one, however, had terrible grades. At this point, Lin Jiajun didn’t have any high hopes for his future.

And Lin Jie’s child, of course, had only just been conceived.
