My CEO Ex: Let Me Go.-Chapter 93
"Did you finish filming today?"
"Just wrapped up. I’m already back at the hotel."
"Isabella, I need to ask you something. How are things between you and Alexander? Has he said anything about marriage?"
There was a long pause on the other end of the phone.
Seeing Isabella’s hesitation, Miles’ expression grew serious.
It seemed clear that things between Isabella and Alexander were in trouble.
I acted worried, but inside, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of relief. If Isabella and Alexander were having problems, Miles would likely be too distracted to bother asking me for shares.
I knew that the closer Isabella and Alexander got, the more smug Miles would become. If they actually got married, with Alexander’s backing, Miles and his daughter could end up turning the company into their own little dictatorship.
I definitely didn’t want that to happen—those shares were mine by right.
"Dad, why are you asking about this all of a sudden?" Isabella asked.
"Tell me the truth. What’s really going on between you two? I’ll be upfront with you—your uncle ran into Alexander and Vivienne at the club today."
"..."
"Isabella, I’m your uncle. If there’s anything going on, you can tell me and your dad. We’ve got your back. What happened between you and Alexander? You need to be honest with us, and we’ll help you figure it out. You have to remember—we’re family. If you’re okay, we’re all okay."
Isabella’s voice wavered. "Uncle, Dad... Alexander said he wants to break up with me."
"Break up?" Miles paused, then added, "That doesn’t make sense. CEO Hawthorne loves you. He wouldn’t just walk away like that. Did you do something to upset him?"
Isabella sniffled. "Dad, I thought it was impossible too, but we had a fight. Alexander said he wants to break up and be with Vivienne. We’ve been apart for so long, and our relationship wasn’t strong to begin with. Vivienne took advantage of the situation and seduced him! Dad, Uncle, you’ve got to help me figure this out!" 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
"Stop crying. Tell us everything that happened, and we’ll sort this out together."
"Okay, here’s what happened..."
After hearing the full story, Miles said, "Isabella, don’t worry. CEO Hawthorne is just upset right now. Don’t stress about it. Dad will take care of Vivienne for you!"
"Thank you, Dad!"
After hanging up, Isabella let out a cold laugh. "Dad, just wait. I won’t let you down!"
Vivienne, I don’t believe you can hold on to Alexander forever.
Alexander, you belong to me, and I won’t let anyone take you away.
Miles then made another call. "Find out everything you can about Vivienne. I want every detail."

Vivienne’s POV
On the way back,
The neon lights flickered outside the window, and the view through the glass on either side of the car became clearer.
I stared at the window, or more precisely, at Alexander’s reflection in the glass. His features were sharp, his profile defined, and the lines of his face were strong.
Full brows, a prominent Adam’s apple, the sensuality of a mature man.
I turned my head slightly, pressed my lips together, and asked, “I hear you’re really good at poker?”
Alexander remained calm. “Not really.”
“They say you win all the time.”
He gave a soft smile, reached over to take my hand, and gently squeezed my fingers, saying nothing.
“How do you do it? I’ve never seen you show much interest in it.” I asked, intrigued.
Alexander glanced at my curious expression. “It’s actually pretty simple. Texas Hold’em is all about probability. You just need to calculate the chances of the remaining cards.”
It was really just math.
I suddenly remembered that Alexander had studied Math and Finance in college.
And he had excelled at it.
Once again, I felt the gap between us.
To follow in his footsteps, I had chosen an MBA program that shared a campus with the Finance department, working incredibly hard just to keep my grades at the top.
But he did it with ease.
The year I started university, he had already graduated. Yet his legend still lingered on campus. In the hall of honor at the school’s history museum, his name was listed at number twenty—just below seasoned scientists and professors, all of whom had made remarkable contributions in their respective fields.
“What are you thinking about?” Alexander asked, turning to look at me.
“Nothing...” I shook my head.
He didn’t press further, changing the subject instead.
“There’s a gala tomorrow night. Would you like to come with me?”
I fell silent. I rarely attended events like that these past few years. Partly because work kept me too busy, but also because I didn’t enjoy them. The people in that world didn’t really regard me, and I didn’t care to socialize with the rich and powerful.
Deep down, I was still just an ordinary girl.
I remembered the last time—the Aurelia Gala. The banquet was grand, but all I could remember was the cold pool water and the bracelet that had been given to Isabella.
I couldn’t help but speak up. “Let the assistant accompany you. I don’t want to go.”
His gaze fell on my face, and he slowly replied, “Then I won’t go either. I’ll stay with you.”
“No,” I said firmly.
“Why not? Don’t worry, it’s not an important event.”
His words made me furrow my brow, though I remained silent.
At home, I went straight to the living room to work until eleven before heading to the master bedroom to freshen up.
As I pushed open the bathroom door and was about to step inside, I suddenly realized someone was already there.
Of course, it was Alexander.
According to our usual routine, he’d stay in his study until around eleven-thirty, so I didn’t expect him to be done so early.
Alexander looked like he’d just finished his shower. He was wearing nothing but a towel around his waist, and I couldn’t tell if he had anything on underneath.
His broad shoulders and narrow waist formed a perfect inverted triangle, radiating raw, masculine energy. His damp hair fell in a few strands over his forehead, making him look several years younger.
White foam covered his chin as he carefully shaved, the razor in his hand.
When he heard the door, he looked up, meeting my gaze through the mirror.
“Sorry,” I stammered.
After a brief moment of surprise, I quickly stepped back, grabbed my toiletries, and hurried to the public bathroom outside.
Standing at the sink, staring at my reflection in the mirror, the image of what I had just seen flashed through my mind. I couldn’t help but smile slightly, my cheeks flushing.
I had to admit, even though Alexander and I had been married for three years and our intimacy was harmonious, his physique still left me in awe.
After we both showered, we lay in bed. The lights were off, and the room fell into darkness, quieting the atmosphere.
Suddenly, someone grabbed my hand. It was Alexander, his movements eager, almost as if he were seeking intimacy.
I thought about the baby growing inside me and fell silent.
The child in my womb was already three months along, stable enough by now. After all, Alexander’s body was truly remarkable, and I had no complaints.
But for some reason, I felt an inexplicable resistance I couldn’t explain.
I remembered the day at my grandmother’s house. He had drunk some nourishing soup but had chosen to take two cold showers, opting to handle things himself rather than touching me.
I didn’t respond immediately, pretending to be asleep. Eventually, I did fall asleep for real.
Alexander’s POV
I propped myself up on my arm, lying next to Vivienne, letting the moonlight spilling into the room illuminate her peaceful face. I gently lay beside her.
My lips brushed against her neck.
At that moment, Vivienne suddenly opened her eyes.
We locked gazes for less than a second before she quickly closed her eyes, pretending she hadn’t woken up.
Seeing her like that, I smiled.
I reached out and gently rubbed her head, whispering, “Sleep, good night.”
