My CEO Boss Is A Masked Internet Sensation-Chapter 308: The Fake Watch
Chapter 308: The Fake Watch
(Arata)
"May I have your watch for the task? Since you will be wearing the one I give you." Before Karsten could start reading, Roshra demanded, extending her hand towards her brother and moving her fingers open and close.
The watch I had given him rested on his wrist; he always wore it around the clock.
"Is that necessary?" Karsten asked, taking in a deep breath.
"Yes, come now." Reluctantly and unwillingly, he removed his watch and handed it to Roshra.
She handed him a big watch which he fastened to his wrist and concentrated on the piece of paper he had extracted from the pot.
"Read it aloud," Roshra instructed again while I relaxed against my chair.
All of us watched as Karsten’s forehead developed several creases. He then turned to face his sister.
"Really?"
Roshra let her hand hang on her hip while she spoke.
"Yeah! Since you love to worship the clock like some time lord and order people around, making their lives miserable if they are late even by a nanosecond. This is the fitting task for you."
Karsten glared at his sister while everyone else burst out laughing. Stella was recording everything and I knew I was going to be sending this to Miranda and Chan.
"Fine!" He snorted, turning his attention back to the piece of paper.
He began to read. "Your task is to find the hidden objects around the place which belong to your pretty fiancée in exactly about 3 minutes 44 seconds and 7 milliseconds. All units of time should be according to your watch."
Rahsir snickered from his seat, knowing his brother’s obsession with time.
Roshra walked over to me while Karsten read the rules of his task and handed me his watch. She bent down and whispered in my ear with her hand covering the side of her mouth.
"The timer on his watch is messed up. It’s fake and will drop seconds faster than a regular watch. You will have the exact time and will be monitoring him."
I slowly giggled and remembered our first meeting when he reprimanded me for being a few seconds late.
"Perfect." I accepted the watch and began the timer.
Karsten was now silently reading the clues of the things girls had hidden.
One was the ruby earring Karsten had given me on Christmas.
Second was the necklace he had given me as his first gift. He had returned it to me and I had accepted.
The third one was my engagement ring.
Girls had taken these from me beforehand.
"Let the game begin," Roshra announced and all eyes focused on Karsten.
His gaze met mine and I sent him a wink, pointing towards the watch, letting him know time was of the essence.
Frantically, he began his search from glancing under the chairs to checking every visible object in the area.
"Don’t forget to check the time, brother-in-law," Stella teased and Karsten did exactly that.
"Nasia told me how you made her cry on the first day at the job with impossible tasks. I bet that karma is here," Rahsir lazily teased, followed by more laughter from the boys.
Karsten ignored everyone, knowing it was a game and glanced at his watch.
"How in the world do I only have one minute left?" He stood near the pool towels and glanced back at Roshra narrowing his eyes at her.
She sat casually, enjoying her margarita and merely shrugged her shoulders.
"How would I know?"
I glanced at Karsten’s watch, and there were still three solid minutes left, but that was the whole point.
Make him sweat with a fake timer.
"Botched time?" Callum softly asked Roshra and she nodded with a wink.
"Ugggh! Why can’t I find anything?" My desperate fiancé turned to face me with almost a pout on his face, making my heart melt for him.
I tried to stand up and help him look.
Cherry caught the change in my expression and posture.
"Ah! Don’t you dare help him. Keep your ass on your seat," she warned, pointing me downwards.
I hid my tittering laugh and pushed myself towards my seat again. freeωebnovēl.c૦m
Karsten hurriedly moved on his legs, seeing that no help was coming from me and widened his search area.
Any object he believed could have them hiding, he searched through.
The floaties, the towels, under the drink trays, Roshra’s bag but Karsten didn’t find even a single object.
His watch began to beep loudly, announcing the time was up when in reality there were still about a minute left.
Cherry blew out a whistle while Zaylen shook his head in disappointment.
"Bro, that’s not a good look."
Karsten had his hands on his knees as he bent down and breathed out slowly.
"Cheated, I have been cheated. This watch is a fake and I am sure those things are not even here," he protested.
Roshra elegantly placed her wine glass down and stood up, crossing her arms over her breast. She tapped the front of her heel down on the floor.
"Now you understand the pain of all those whom you have judged because of time, including your bride-to-be."
"At least I gave the correct time, not the fake one." Karsten took off the silly cartoon watch Roshra had made him wear and waved it back at her.
"That was the whole point of it." Stella let out a mischievous laugh.
"Where are the hidden pieces of jewellery?" He asked, a tad annoyed.
"Check your pants pocket, my dear brother." Roshra pointed with her perfectly manicured finger.
Karsten’s eyes widened as he realised how they had played him.
His hand instantly went to his right pocket and he extracted a small gold pouch from it.
Whistles sounded from the onlookers while he stretched it open and emptied it into his hand.
And there lay the ring, the earring and the necklace.
"How?" He raised his gaze and asked his sister.
"With the subtle movement of my hands." She wriggled her fingers at him and he shook his head in defeat.
With a wide smile plastered on my face, I got up and walked over to a defeated-looking Karsten. Placing my hand on his back I said.
"Awww, my boy got played."
